“I Want You” Video
Released w/ Pitchfork Today!
"…conjures the darkest corners of Thatcher-era Manchester."
– The New Yorker
“Clay Class is nearly an indie classic.”
– Rolling Stone
“Their vocals move in two separate but parallel lines, eschewing harmony for the aural equivalent of a march.“
– Los Angeles Times
With the release of their sophomore album, Clay Class, January 31, DFA’s Prinzhorn Dance School delivered their unique, progressive sound to audiences across the US. Now, Tobin Prinz and Suzi Horn are back with the new single EP that builds on their minimalistic aesthetic featuring album track “I Want You” and four brand new b-sides. The band’s I Want You single EP will be released digitally April 10 on DFA Records.
The widely dispersed guitar lines and a simple, steady rhythm of “I Want You” allow the duo’s complementing vocals to shine. Sincere lyrics show a vulnerable side of the band, which is highlighted by the track’s accompanying video. Watch the intimate “I Want You” video where it premiered on Pitchfork or HERE.

“Promise” features a vocal and guitar melody that play off one another, taking turns atop a prominent, pulsing beat. “Love In The Ground” is full of intentional pauses and singular melodies. The band recorded their interpretation of “Green Worms” by Brian James Gang of legendary punk band The Damned. Brian James Gang returns the favor with a lo-fi version of Prinzhorn Dance School’s “Usurper,” closing the single EP the punk-rock influenced track buzzing with electric guitar and snarling vocals.
New York Magazine's Nitsuh Abebe called Clay Class “a welcome return for the band — solemn and pensive, often beautiful, and wrapped around big themes.” Having performed for enthusiastic crowds across Europe, Prinzhorn Dance School’s sophomore LP Clay Class has re-solidified the band’s mark in the US.
