DAVID MAYFIELD PARADE RELEASES STUNNING SELF-TITLED DEBUT

Grammy-nominated musician and producer David Mayfield released his debut album, The David Mayfield Parade, last week on 9th Grade Records (January 4, 2011), and there is already a strong buzz surrounding the release. In fact, Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Songs called it “an absolutely brilliant record.” The album is Mayfield’s debut and the label was co-founded by Mayfield and his current manager, Josh Joplin, and the music on it effortlessly ventures from classic AM radio rock with lush string arrangements to unadorned alt-country ballads whose lovelorn subjects evoke the outlaw songs of the early 70’s. It succeeds and endures because at its heart it does not pretend to be anything but what it is, a sincere rock record.

"I had these songs together and knew I wanted to make a record,” said Mayfield. “I had just finished a long tour with Cadillac Sky, and when I got home I called my good friend Bob Cesare (Drums) in Akron, Ohio. Bob played drums on my sister’s record, Blasphemy So Heartfelt, as well as Dan Auerbach's solo record. I knew he would understand my concept for how the Parade should sound. We recorded the majority of the album live at Bobs using his huge collection of vintage guitars and amps. After that we drove down to North Carolina and my fiends The Avett Brothers where kind enough to sing and play on about half the record. They bring such an honest emotion to this project, and I couldn't imagine it without them."

Mayfield, known to be a force of nature on stage with boundless energy and enthusiasm for performing, also has a sincerity that is reflected in every performance. There is no posturing, no façade, nothing but great songs and the instruments to play them. His ability to connect with audiences from performances at Bonnaroo and MerleFest, to NPR’s Mountain Stage and The Grand Ole Opry, have earned him the reputation of being the kind of extraordinary artist who goes beyond trend and simply delivers genuinely essential music—and much of that stems from Mayfield’s roots.

"I grew up in a family band, with my baby sister (Jessica Lea Mayfield),” says David. “We lived in a bus once owned by bluegrass legend Bill Monroe. We didn't have a lot but we did have two fantastic parents who taught us the value of doing what you love and to not be afraid to jump head first into an adventure. We supported the entire family for years with nothing but music."

Mayfield says while making the album, he drew inspiration from his musical heroes Buddy Holly, Harry Nilsson, and Randy Newman and the albums he grew up listening to, Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and Melanie's "Gather Me.”

"I used to buy albums at the thrift store for a quarter, I had no idea who I was buying some stuff I would hate and some stuff just blew me away,” he says. “I remember running to my parents like I had just discovered something – ‘Hey Dad, have you ever heard of Simon & Garfunkel? They are awesome.’ He would just laugh and say, ‘Yeah, I think they were pretty popular.’"

So far, in addition to Paste Magazine debuting the video for “I Just Might Pray,” one of the album’s tracks, “BlueSkiesAgain,” will be the single on Jessica Lea Mayfield's Nonesuch release produced by Auerbach. But Mayfield’s music is not exactly new to some. His song, “Bible Days” was featured on an episode of CSI:NY; and “Ballad Of Restored Confidence” was the featured cover mounted track on Uncut Magazine.

“Mayfield’s songs...Push the sonic boundaries”---Washington Post

"David Mayfield quietly has been making waves as a support player, but his album should turn ears and heads on its own." -- Charlotte Observer

“David Mayfield has a voice as warm and friendly as a James Taylor smile." ---Atlanta Music Guide

Hello Bella Release 'Echoes of the Atmosphere'

If you look past the big-city flair of major metropolitan areas you’ll find small towns that possess amongst other things, a lot of heart. Hello Bella, a dynamic five-piece can attest to this. They’ve already made a name for themselves by taking their catchy, earnestly crafted pop tunes throughout their hometowns in Southwestern Ontario. And now, with the release of Echoes of the Atmosphere on January 25th, the band is poised to take big cities everywhere by the horns the only way they know how, with an ear for great song-writing and of course, heart.

“The songwriting is catchy, accompanied by radio ready production values” - The Windsor Star

The story of Hello Bella is one of adversity and triumph. Officially formed in 2007, the band released their first EP, That Girl in the summer of 2008. Following the release, they launched their “Small Town Tour,” focusing on playing small Ontario towns in the dead of winter. Between garnering airplay on local radio stations and landing a chance to perform in front of a celebrity panel of MuchMusic’s “Disband,” Hello Bella moved in together to begin writing their debut full-length. They were soon granted their big break: a chance to open for international pop icons Black Eyed Peas at Sarnia Bayfest. The day after receiving the news, a house fire broke out and quickly spread to their jam space. The gig now in jeopardy, their local communities rallied around them and raised enough money to replace damaged equipment. This kind of rousing sentiment doesn’t show itself everyday, but it can be heard in spades on Echoes of the Atmosphere.

>From the epic build of ‘Stand,’ the album’s stirring opener and first single to the catchy stomp of ‘Cosmo,’ Echoes of the Atmosphere is full of polished, radio-ready pop-rock that leans on uplifting synth and keys, diverse hooks and the palpable emotion heard within lead singer Stephanie Poort’s vocals. There is no shortage of grand aspirations on Echoes. Hello Bella balance playful hooks with a stretching sonic landscape on ‘Argentina,’ give weight to the soaring romantic swoon of ‘Earthquake,’ and let their true rock and roll aspirations shine through on the crunchy groove within ‘Any Road But Here.’

“Hello Bella is regarded as one of the most recognizable musical acts in southwestern Ontario. Their musical style has allowed them to cross over into multiple genres...I can say with full confidence that Hello Bella can become a national icon in Canadian music.” -Tony Frangis, 99.9 The Fox FM Sarnia

In short, Echoes is poised to set dance halls and speakers on fire very, very soon. The album is full of spur of the moment production including recording a marching band walking by the studio’s open window during an art festival and an opening synth line on one track realized by bumping a member’s love handles against the keyboard. Yet there are no processed pop songs here; these are five musicians who are aware of their upbringing and are ready for listeners far and wide to hear both their story and their unmitigated groove.

Hello Bella is Stephanie Poort (lead vocals, keys) of Wyoming, ON, Nic Malara, (keys, guitar, etc.) of Coral Springs, FL, Mitch Fiddick (bass guitar) of Petrolia, ON, Rob Pearse (drums), of Petrolia/Port Stanley, ON, and Matt Naylor (lead guitar) of Sarnia, ON.

RELISH SIGNS WORLDWIDE DEAL WITH ROCK RIDGE MUSIC

Northern Ireland-based trio Relish (Ken Papenfus - lead vocals, guitars; Carl Papenfus - drum, vocals; Darren Campbell - bass, vocals) has signed a worldwide deal with Rock Ridge Music, who will release the band’s forthcoming album, “Connected,” in June 2011. Worldwide distribution will be handled via ADA and ADA Global. Initial plans call for release in the UK, Ireland and the U.S., with the first single, “Something To Believe In,” scheduled for digital release on March 11, 2011.

Says Rock Ridge Music CEO Tom Derr of the signing: “Relish encompasses exactly what this business is about to Rock Ridge Music - great songs and great people.”

Band vocalist/guitarist Ken Papenfus is pleased about the deal, saying, "The reason we signed a label deal with Rock Ridge was a very simple one for us. Tom Derr. Inspired.” His brother, band drummer/vocalist Carl Papenfus agrees, stating, “This is a fantastic opportunity for the best album we have ever done.”

Relish, who hail from County Down, North Ireland, have sold platinum albums, won prestigious music awards, written global hits, graced some of the world's most famous stages and have fans among the likes of Paul Weller, Brian May, and U2, and are virtually unknown beyond Ireland. The trio formed in the mid-90s and signed with EMI Ireland in 1998, where they released two albums. They began recording their debut album, “Wildflowers,” with John Leckie (Radiohead), and the album was subsequently finished by Al Clay (mixer for the Stereophonics and The Pixies). A string of Irish radio hits from “Wildflowers” followed, resulting in a platinum album, awards, glowing reviews, and numerous high-profile endorsements from the likes of U2's Larry Mullen Jr. and Queen's Brian May, who paid them the courtesy of a handwritten letter expressing his appreciation. U2 personally invited the band to play at their first Slane Castle show in front of 80,000 people. Relish also supported the Stereophonics, Coldplay, Kelis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Ocean Colour Scene.

Their follow-up album, “Karma Calling,” produced by Clay and the Papenfus brothers, peaked at #8 on the Irish album charts, went gold the first week of release, and boasted one top 10 and one top 20 single. Their songs featured on UK advertisements, in Hollywood movies such as “The Long Weekend” and “Intermission” (featuring Colin Farrell), and on UK television such as “Eastenders,” “Coronation Street” and “This Morning.” Global smash boy band Westlife took a cover of the Relish song “Rainbow Zephyr,” rechristened “Hey Whatever,” to #4 on the UK singles chart.

After parting ways with EMI, Relish as a collective took a hiatus. Ken and Carl lent their talents to the British jazz/funk group The Players, consisting of members of Paul Weller’s band and Ocean Colour Scene. Ken toured as guitar player for Paul Weller and was featured on his “Studio 150” DVD, and Darren had a cameo as bass player for Weller on the “Jonathan Ross Show.” Carl lent a rhythmical hand to the likes of Paul Brady, Hal, Lesley Roy, Juno Falls and other major label artists.

Their new album "Connected" sounds more like a debut album. The band has a renewed excitement and love for music again and the future looks bright as for the first time ever the true cultural impact that this band was able to deliver at home can be an experience shared worldwide. More information about “Connected” will be released soon.

Past Relish press kudos:
- “Relish prove themselves worthy of their accolades by releasing a debut brimming with promise. This is an uplifting album epitomized by simple, accomplished song-writing and soulful vocals. Given the right support, this Irish three-piece have the potential to clean up the huge album-buyer market.” – Music Week
- “The band’s sound is a pleasing mixture of commercial soul, pop, and funk influences based around Ken Papenfus’ strong vocal pyrotechnics, which at times recall Jeff Buckley and Stevie Wonder.” – Billboard
- “...joyful surges of gospel-tinted soul rock. Musically, Relish are pitched somewhere between Curtis Mayfield and the Rolling Stones.” - NME

THE JOLLY BOYS TO RELEASE GREAT EXPECTATION; FIRST ALBUM FROM THE LEGENDARY GROUP IN 20 YEARS

EOne Music and Geejam Recordings are excited to announce that Jamaica¹s legendary Jolly Boys will release their first album in 20 years on May 3, 2011. Entitled Great Expectation, it¹s a collaborative project between Geejam¹s Jon Baker and Wall of Sound¹s Mark Jones and the results are 12 joyous interpretations of contemporary songs given a modern Mento makeover.

While Jamaica is known for its reggae and ska, Mento is the original sound of the island and the forerunner to these two genres. With an amazing history spanning 60 years, The Jolly Boys¹ name is synonymous with the Mento sound and they are arguably the most recognizable Mento band in the world.

The Jolly Boys quickly rose to local prominence in the 1950s as the house band for the Rat Pack¹s Jamaica chapter, chaired by the swashbuckling enfant terrible Errol Flynn. Singing songs of double entendre and ribaldry to those in search of escape and excess, the group served as Port Antonio¹s go-to band for 30 years.

The band have continued in different incarnations throughout the years and have a truly charismatic leader in current front man Albert Minott, who in his younger years, used to entertain at Jolly Boys¹ shows with his hand walking, fire eating and limbo dancing. His saturated vocals, natural retro chic stylings and limitless charisma convey a rare originality and musical creativity that is entirely his own.

Great Expectation was produced by Baker, founder of Gee Street Records, the seminal UK hip hop label that first brought the likes of the Jungle Brothers, Queen Latifah, PM Dawn and the RZA to the attention of the British public and that also developed a domestic roster with acts such as the Stereo MC¹s, and DJ Richie Rich. Now based in Jamaica, Baker recorded the album at his Geejam studios in Port Antonio. It was mixed by Tom Elmhirst who has worked with the likes of Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Hot Chip and The Kills.

In the summer of 2009 Baker held a recording session at Geejam to capture some of the Jolly Boys¹ vintage material. That session led to a fresh creative idea to dip into the rock repertory, take the songs that resonate with Mento¹s raucous history and put them in a different setting. Baker, together with his long time friend and creative partner Mark Jones, chose tracks from artists like The Clash, The Stooges, The Stranglers, New Order and Amy Winehouse. Over several months the group worked incessantly with Baker¹s co-producer Dale Virgo on a set of innovative arrangements and modern beats to compliment and contemporize an older sound defined by banjos, maracas and rumba boxes.

The result is Great Expectation, and with it comes the birth of modern Mento.

The album has already been released in the UK and the reviews have been stellar. The Times said "The Jolly Boys are enjoying a glorious renaissance," the Telegraph called Great Expectation "Utterly engaging," the Observer hailed "The Jolly Boys are enjoying a remarkable 'Buena Vista Social Club' like revival," and MOJO, The Times and Mail on Sunday each awarded 4 stars for Great Expectation.

HAVOK: Denver Thrashers Return With Their Second Studio Offering

On their 2009 Candlelight debut, Burn, Denver-based HAVOK quickly proved to metallers of all walks that they were far more than your average fly-by-night thrash act. Even Fear Factory's Gene Hoglan took note of the young band saying, "HAVOK lays it down old-school heavy like a sharp stick in the eye."

Time Is Up, the band's follow-up to Burn, will be released via Candlelight Records on March 29, 2011. Featuring ten tracks mixed by the legendary James Murphy, the record immediately showcases the band's collective penchant for writing mammoth thrash anthems and the flawless musicianship that's come from the last year's worth of tireless live performances including national tours with Primal Fear, Hatchet, Hammerfall and Wretched, as well as regional dates with Destruction, Cephalic Carnage, Exodus, Anthrax and others. Blistering guitar and drum work once again highlight the record, particularly on standout tunes like “Prepare for Attack,” “Fatal Intervention,” “Covering Fire,” and “Scumbag In Disguise.” Bringing it all together is striking cover art by illustrator Halsey Swain.

Time Is Up Track Listing:
1. "Prepare for Attack"
2. "Fatal Intervention"
3. "No Amnesty"
4. "D.O.A."
5. "Covering Fire"
6. "Killing Tendencies"
7. "Scumbag in Disguise"
8. "The Cleric"
9. "Out of My Way"
10. "Time Is Up"

HAVOK formed in 2004. After two self-released albums, the band caught the attention of England’s Candlelight Records and by the Spring of 2009, the band unleashed Burn to the metal masses. The album peaked on CMJ’s Loud Rock chart at 15 and broke MediaGuide’s Top 10. Continued radio play came from KBPI/Denver, KUPD/Phoenix, WKLL/Waterville NY and WSOU/South Orange NJ. Music Choice and the syndicated metal program Full Metal Jackie also gave HAVOK repeated airtime.

HAVOK will kick off their first tour in support of Time Is Up next month as support for Florida death metallers Malevolent Creation. Stay tuned for tour dates and further info.

La Sera drops new single, extends Winter / Spring tour

MP3: "Devils Hearts Grow Gold" -
http://hardlyart.com/mp3/LS_DevilsHeartsGrowGold.mp3

VIDEO: "Never Come Around" (Dir. by Brady Hall) -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKwZSoIrAnY

Since joining all-female punk trio Vivian Girls during the spring of 2007 Katy Goodman's DIY-style bass playing and drifty-faded vocals have sent waves of adoration rippling throughout Brooklyn's pop punk circuit. Her newest band La Sera showcases her signature style, bringing her talent for creating dreamy pop songs even more to the forefront. La Sera just finished a west coast tour and had a smashing time at CMJ.

After touring the world with Vivian Girls, releasing a handful of well-received records, and starting record label Wild World with her band mates, Goodman started exploring other outlets. She played in the short-lived dream-pop band All Saints Day in the spring of 2010, and a self-titled limited-edition 7" of spectral tunes was released on indie label Art Fag earlier this year.

In February 2010 Goodman started working on some fresh material that inspired the formation of her brand new band, La Sera. Her inspiration sprung from an attraction to early pop hits from the 1950's and ethereal choral vocals. Her new songs contain warm celestial-pop melodies that echo with the dreamlike effect of a church choir and effuse a softer, less aggressive sound than the Vivian Girls.

Recording with a tambourine, guitar, and layers upon layers of heavenly vocals, she started sending her songs to filmmaker/music producer Brady Hall (the director of Vivian Girls videos "Moped Girls" and "When I'm Gone"), who immediately wanted to collaborate and dove into re-recording her rough material himself. After hearing his finished work, Katy flew to Seattle and the two recorded all the vocals, mixed the songs and filmed two La Sera music videos at Brady's home studio.

The eponymous La Sera is the result of these sessions. With a dozen fresh tracks, La Sera muses on death, love, and love lost within the span of two minute choiral pop blisters. The phantasmic quality of Goodman's voice takes hold of the contradictorily upbeat "You're Going to Cry," while "Dove Into Love" seems to send time into drifting slow motion, enveloped by a wave of guitar strums. The lilting and delicate "Hold," meanwhile, tells the story of two people hugging each other to death.

SKOLD joins Metropolis Records

SKOLD waylays 2011 with his first full-length solo album in 15 years. Delivering a snarky CD single prelude on April 12, setting the stage for a May 10th full Album release - SKOLD steps up once again, supplying sonic solvent for the huffing social cynics.

Gestating through production and composition with such artists as KMFDM and Marilyn Manson, producing feats like the #1 Billboard charting album The Golden Age of Grotesque [feat. "mOBSCENE" nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.] and the critically acclaimed Eat Me, Drink Me, SKOLD arrived prodigiously throughout 2009, having dispatched the album SKOLD vs. KMFDM and three new solo teaser tracks: "I Will Not Forget", "Bullets Ricochet" and "A Dark Star" garnished with validation by accolades of TV placement in shows like NCIS and FlashForward, and rabid fan consumption.

The product of an active 2010, the May album and its first single, "Suck", are munitions ready to go and renowned label Metropolis Records has signed on as
gunner to make sure those salvos hit on target. The April CD single raises a flag taken up by cohorts and allies like Combichrist, 16Volt and Front Line
Assembly who have shown up to contribute their own remixes of the track.

Always one to fight on all fronts, 2010-turn-2011 will also see SKOLD continuing with the new Scandinavian metal/hard rock supergroup, Doctor Midnight & The
Mercy Cult. Already finished recordings with the line up of underground heroes Hank von Hell [Turbonegro], Anders Odden [Celtic Frost, Satyricon], Audun
Stengel [Apoptygma Berzerk] and David Husvik [Extol] look set to form an album band of brothers in the new year.

These releases and more lie in waiting for a smug and self-assured 2011 and all she carries with her.

Chilly Gonzales Announces "You Can Dance" Single, Premieres New Video via NME!

“…highly entertaining.” – New York Times

“You Can Dance” Single Available
March 1st via Arts & Crafts

2010 will be remembered as the year that Chilly Gonzales made a name for himself with his latest album (and accompanying film!) Ivory Tower, which received tremendous critical acclaim and best-of 2010 accolades worldwide. Now we’re thrilled to announce the release of a new single from Ivory Tower, in the form of “You Can Dance,” a euphoric hand-clap piano jamboree. The upbeat disco-soul number sees release on March 1st via Canadian tastemaker label Arts & Crafts!

The single, which will be available digitally in North America, comes with several remixes, including one from the nineteen-year old blog sensation Robotaki- other remixes come courtesy of Max Tundra, Shadow Dancer, Gemini Club, Edwin Van Cleef and Popular Computer.

Gonzales is also known as a super-producer of sorts, working with a wide array of artists. Best known for his production work with Feist (whose album The Reminder earned him a Grammy nomination), Peaches and Jamie Lidell, he has more recently worked with Marina & the Diamonds and Tiga, not to mention older collaborations with Bjork and Daft Punk. His single “Never Stop” was recently chosen by Apple to soundtrack the latest iPad commercial, broadcasting Chilly’s magic to millions of homes across the globe.

As for his own material, Gonzo has criss-crossed the musical world. His early releases tended toward lo-fi rap (The Entertainist) and dark, gritty cabaret (Gonzales Über Alles), or a combination of the two (Presidential Suite). In 2004 he took a step in a different direction with Solo Piano, an album consisting entirely of beautifully arranged original compositions of classical and jazz piano numbers that became his most well-known and best selling album to date.

In addition to all this great news, Chilly’s brilliantly hilarious film Ivory Tower, featuring Tiga and Peaches as well as frequent Gonzales collaborator Feist, is due for release on DVD later this year.

'Synth pop icons re-emerge with ’80s allure intact… Andy McCluskey’s ageless croon still conjures ghosts in the synth pop machinery, as vintage Mellotrons weep quasi-operatic tears.'
– SPIN

'OMD has the dignity that made them huge first time' - News of the World

'Fresh, alive and more powerful than on record. This was a great show in which OMD demonstrated what it meant to be a proper band with a proper front man and a proper songs' -Herald

"This is OMD's first tour for 19 years, and, judging by the performance of the band and the fans' reactions, it won't be another 19 years before they gig again." - Leicester Mercury

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, one of the UK’s most iconic bands, are back with their first new album in 14 years. The appropriately entitled ‘History Of Modern’ via Bright Antenna Records through Warner Music Group’s Independent Label Group, has already sold over 100,000 copies. And what a return!

Andy McCluskey has called it ‘our best album since Architecture and Morality’ – and few would disagree. The album was produced by OMD and mixed by one of the UK’s most in demand producers Mike Crossey (Artic Monkeys/Blood Red Shoes/Razorlight).

Last autumn the classic OMD line up of Andy McCluskey, Paul Humphreys, Martin Cooper (keyboards) and Malcolm Holmes (drums) embarked on their sold-out 'History of Modern' European tour. The press raved. The Times praised their “well-crafted song structures, lush arrangements and energetic stage performance” while Q Magazine declared them 'soaring synth-pop of the highest order'.

The tour is now officially heading stateside this March with North American stops including Boston, NY, LA, SF, Toronto and playing select shows at this year’s SXSW. It will be the group’s first US outing with the original line up since their 1988 stadium tour with Depeche Mode. After three years of critically acclaimed sold- out concerts in the UK and Europe these dates will feature the band mixing their most celebrated and classic hits; ‘Enola Gay’, ‘So In Love’ ‘If You Leave’ and ‘Souvenir’ with new songs, creating a distinctly contemporary live show.

It's nearly thirty years since OMD first harnessed their creative and commercial powers, and 2010’s comeback album 'History Of Modern' proves they still have a way with a warm melody and interesting lyric. For all their love of experimental German music, the Wirral duo remains at heart, slaves to the pop song. History of Modern is a powerful, pulsating, vibrant testament to their shared pop sensibility. Tracks such as ‘Pulse’, ‘Save Me’, ‘Sister Marie Says’ and ‘The Future’ are huge dancefloor fillers while downtempo gems ‘Bondage Of Fate’, ‘If You Want It’ and ‘Sometimes’ are simply beautiful, classic OMD songs that invoke their pioneering and influential electronic roots. Many of today’s electro artists such as LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, Mark Ronson, The XX, MGMT and The Killers have repeatedly cited OMD as a massive inspiration.

OMD are offering special VIP tickets which can be purchased at omd.brightantenna.com.
Pre-sale tickets are available Monday, January 10th while normal ticketing goes on sale Friday, January 14th via each venue's websites and Ticketmaster.

THE ACCUSED Announce New Drummer Band To Unveil New Video

Like a bunch of zombies drunk on embalming fluid, veteran hardcore thrashers THE ACCUSED prepare to take their Splatter-Rock-Speakeasy and After-Hours-Sicko-Sideshow into turbo-nuclear-tombstone-kicking overdrive with the announcement of a new stick-breaker in Warren A. Pease (pronounced "war 'n' peace") Said the band in a collective statement: "He's a relatively young chap at the tender age of 25. Then again, with THE ACCUSED founding guitarist, Tommy Niemeyer rounding the corner heading into half-century territory, who isn't young to that old fucker? Warren, or 'Andy' as he's affectionately referred to most noticeably at first brings his youthful enthusiasm and perpetual grin to THE ACCUSED. But don't let the friendly face fool you into thinking this is some run-of-the-mill, trigger-tapping tom-tom-tickler. No! The young Mr. Pease possesses an absolutely mind-boggling, pile-driving, double-kick drumming style that will make you wonder if he's got extra appendages hidden away back there somewhere. Having the freshly-plucked Warren A. Pease now on drums will up the ante for all who are dealt-in when THE ACCUSED bring their horror-filled freak show to the stage sometime early 2011. The Kings of Splatter Rock are back with a vicious and brutal hardcore attack."

In related news, THE ACCUSED will unleash a new video for "Hemline," the seventh track off The Curse Of Martha Splatterhead, released via Southern Lord Recordings last year. The video is a mini-Splatter epic starring the lovely and terrifying Martha Splatterhead, was shot in three locations from Marysville, Washington to Los Angeles, California and directed by Federico Aragon. A worldwide premiere of "Hemline" will be announced for later this month. Be sure to check the band's website for further instructions!

Toro Y Moi and Cloud Nothings team up for split 7" and tour dates

Carpark Labelmates Toro Y Moi and Cloud Nothings have teamed up for a new split 7" featuring 100% exclusive and previously unreleased tracks. Toro Y Moi contributes "I Will Talk To You" while Cloud Nothings contribute "For No Reason." The single is in celebration of their Spring tour which will find Cloud Nothings opening for Toro Y Moi on the majority of the dates. The single drops on vinyl and digitally on March 29 but will be available prior to that exclusively at the merch table at the shows they are playing together, starting on March 11.

Toro Y Moi Bio:

Columbia, South Carolina's Chaz Bundick (aka Toro Y Moi) rose to the fore of the music blogosphere in summer 2009 when he and a few peers made their hazy bedroom recordings the most talked-about sound of the season. Critics across the board took notice of the range of his compositions, and his debut album, Causers of This, showcased his ability to make elements of Brian Wilson's pop, 80s R&B, and Stones Throw hip-hop coalesce into a distinct sound that's as suitable for a dancefloor as it is a pair of headphones.

When Chaz first signed to Carpark Records, the plan was to release two records in 2010-- one electronic and one with live instrumentation--and although it didn't quite fit into the same calendar year as his debut, Underneath the Pine is that latter offering. This release sees him following the same creative urges to completely different ends. Having spent the year listening to film composers like Ennio Morricone and François de Roubaix, Bundick returned to his home in Columbia, the birthplace of many Toro tracks of yore, to bring his new ideas to fruition. The result of these sessions is an album evocative of R. Stevie Moore's homespun ruminations, David Axelrod's sonic scope, Steve Reich-ian piano phrasing, and the pervasive funk of his first record. Underneath the Pine announces a new phase for an artist whose talent defies classification.

Cloud Nothings Bio:

It's been a crazy year for Cloud Nothings since they burst onto the music scene last winter. At the time main man Dylan Baldi was eighteen, living at home, and making lo-fi indie rock on a crappy computer in his parent's suburban basement outside Cleveland. Since then, Cloud Nothings has released an EP and a handful of singles, and the band has put a few North American tours under its belt. With all the internet notoriety and their recent signing with Carpark (and Wichita for Europe), Cloud Nothings are now able to record somewhere besides the basement. For a producer, Dylan chose Baltimore's Chester Gwazda, known for his work with Dan Deacon and Future Islands. Recorded this past August in a warehouse studio in Baltimore's famed Copycat Building (home to the original Wham City and many of the city's best musicians and artists), the self-titled Cloud Nothings album shines through with a crispness and boldness that Dylan has always envisioned. The songs now sound as they do live: full of energy, precision, and catchy bits. Dylan plays all the instruments on the album, but this time without the lo-fi scuzz. The excitement and emotion are practically jumping off the grooves.

LESS THAN JAKE re-release "Losing Streak" and "Hello Rockview"! On tour too!

When they decided to start up their own label Sleep It Off Records three years ago to take back control of not only their future but also their legacy, punk/pop/ska band LESS THAN JAKE not only provided their fans with new music (full-length GNV FLA and EP TV/EP) but with re-releases of their classic catalog as well (Goodbye Blue And White, Pezcore, Losers, Kings And Things We Don't Understand, Peoples History Of Less Than Jake). Continuing down their path, they will be re-releasing their classic albums Losing Streak (1996) and Hello Rockview (1998) on March 1, 2011. "I'm crazy excited to add these to my already ridiculous collection of LTJ stuff," says Schwenker, Program Director/Afternoon Show on Friends Or Enemies Radio. "Every new ska album I hear gets compared to these two albums, and Less Than Jake wins almost every time. They started my obsession with ska and, actually, my radio career. I seriously love LTJ."

The physical release of both albums will include the original album along with a bonus DVD of live video recorded at various shows in their native Florida (the digital release will consist of the recorded audio from these shows only). All new artwork for the expanded packaging has been created by longtime LTJ artist Horsebites (http://www.horsebitesdesign.com/blog.php).

In support of the re-releases, Less Than Jake will be kicking off in mid-January and circling around the U.S. in preparation for some big plans in 2011. Support for these dates will be Supervillains and Off With Their Heads. Always plotting new ways to keep their music and live shows exciting, the band is looking forward to keeping things interesting. "We have a few tricks planned," says drummer Vinnie Fiorello, "but we like keeping the element of surprise to the show instead of hype."

Antony and the Johnsons Announce TED Conference Performance, Collaborate with Inez and Vinoodh and Kate Moss

Antony and the Johnsons have just announced a performance at the TED Conference in Long Beach, CA on March 1. TED is a nonprofit dedicated to spreading ideas and bringing together people in the technology, entertainment and design fields.

Antony recently collaborated with artists Inez and Vinoodh, whom have photographed him in the past, on a short video. While shooting the fall/winter 2010/2011 Balmain campaign staring Kate Moss, the pair set up surveillance cameras without anyone’s knowledge to capture her performance. They then edited and added animation to the footage, which became the short film Everglade, named after the Antony and the Johnsons song that serves as its soundtrack. The film can be seen here:
http://tinyurl.com/4nbhavx

Antony and the Johnsons are working on a forthcoming EP and video due out on Secretly Canadian this spring. They released their latest album, “Swanlights” last October on Secretly Canadian. Abrams Image simultaneously released a special edition of “Swanlights” that includes the CD inside a 144-page hard cover book containing Antony’s paintings, collages, photography and writing. The album and book are a continuation of Antony’s work exploring his connection to the natural world.

Alexander Ebert To Release Debut Album Alexander on March 1st via Community Music

Alexander Ebert, lead singer of LA hippie-entourage Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, will be releasing his debut solo album Alexander on March 1st via Community Music (Rough Trade will release the album in Europe on February 28th). The album will include ten brand new songs that Alexander wrote and composed entirely himself. The track-list for the album can be found below.

During breaks from touring with the Zeroes over the past year, Alexander began building and recording the pieces that would become the songs for this album alone in his bedroom. Before this album, all of the music he worked on had been collaborative, especially with the 10-person Magnetic Zeroes. "I wanted to be able to build an album basically with my hands, like building a house by myself," Alexander remarked of his inspiration for making this album without outside help.

There isn't a single sound on the ten-song album that Alexander didn't perform himself. Alone in his room, he had his guitar, a Lowery organ he picked up at a St. Vincent's thrift store in Los Angeles for seventy bucks, a clarinet he used for the bridge on the record's first single, "Truth," and a violin he'd found somewhere in Tucson on tour. He had his own voice, his breath, his knees to slap, his fingers to snap and his toes to tap. When he knew that he wanted to use a violin on the bridge of "Glimpses," he had an urge to call a friend to come play it for him, but then questioned why he wouldn't try it himself. Says Alexander, "To me, it's a very humble album with sky's-the-limit sort of qualities, and so I didn't really shy away from doing whatever I felt like doing."

As for the music itself, Alexander explains that some of the inspirations for the "mouth sounds" that you can hear throughout the record were from all-time-favorites of his like the 1970 chart-topping ditty "In The Summertime" by British band Mungo Jerry. He also notes that children's clapping games like Patty Cake and infectious and optimistic Disney tunes like "Zip A Dee Do Da" served as loose inspirations for him.

Alexander will play select shows in Los Angeles and at South By Southwest before returning to the studio to complete work on the upcoming second LP from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, which will be released later this year.

Alexander track listing:

1. Let's Win!

2. Awake My Body

3. Truth

4. In The Twilight

5. Bad Bad Love

6. Old Friend

7. A Million Years

8. Remember Our Heart

KRADDY ANNOUNCES 2011 LABYRINTH TOUR

30-date US TOUR celebrates the release of the Labyrinth EP and Upcoming Remix Album

"Kraddy pretty much defines the hyper-kinetic dubstep side of the “beat” scene that is making global waves" Urb
Kraddy announced his 2011 Winter tour in promotion of his latest EP release, Labyrinth. Fresh off recent appearances with Pretty Lights and a sold-out CD release party that packed L.A.’s infamous Low End Theory nightclub to fire brigade levels, listen for the Kraddy “Led Zeppelin 3000” sound at clubs and festivals through North America in 2011.

Kraddy’s Labyrinth Tour launches on January 13th with a repeat L.A. performance hosted by Do Labs at King King and includes dates during the SIA Snow Show in Colorado as well as guest appearances with Big Gigantic in select cities in the Northeast. Tour features custom-designed lighting system with support by electronic music duo Archnemesis and Love & Light for select dates.

The Labyrinth EP, released in collaboration between Alpha Pup Records and Minotaur Recordings and available through all major retailers, is a crowd moving affair loaded with powerful rhythms, epic symphonics, and savage gauntlets of body-throttling bass… a style Kraddy likes to call, “Led Zeppelin 3000.”

The 5-track original collection includes elements of hip hop, dubstep, dancehall, and rock that are woven together to create a brutally pounding EP - a musical experience that is sliced through with soul and banged from the brain of one of the West Coast’s most prominent future sound pioneers.

The upcoming Labyrinth remix album includes remixes by Heavyweight Dub Champions, DLX, Robot Koch, and Ben Samples and will be available February 2011 in both vinyl and digital formats through Groove Distribution. Special bonus packages will include custom Kraddy skate decks as well as the music video for the single “No Comply,” shot at Thrasher’s skate park arena.

A founding member of the groundbreaking electronic group The Glitch Mob, Kraddy has embarked on his own to more truly pursue his unique style, which continues to emerge as a fully hybridized sound riddled with analog grunge, digital tweaks and blunt force trauma.

Kraddy (born Matthew Kratz) has always been known for shattering genre conventions while moving crowds everywhere from Red Rocks to L.A.’s famed Low End Theory club.

From his breakthrough 2008 hit “Android Porn” to the innovative bangers comprising his latest EP Labyrinth (Alpha Pup), Kraddy continues to hybridize hip-hop, dubstep and dancehall with face-melting panache and rock and roll bravado. But the man himself was as surprised as anyone when the mainstream crossed over to him.

Captivating the listener in a maze of bold sonic innovations,Labyrinth is truly a musical adventure, a soundtrack for the hero’s journey that every human must make. For more information visit Kraddy's website here.

Lord Huron to perform with Calder Quartet at Autry Museum in LA, presented by Brand X

STREAM: "When Will I See You Again" -
http://soundcloud.com/forcefieldpr/lord-huron-when-will-i-see-you-again

Lord Huron

We're pleased to announce a special LA performance by Lord Huron on Jan. 20 at 7pm at the Autry Museum in Griffith Park. The band will be joined by LA's Calder Quartet and a surprise guest vocalist - also on the show are Abe Vigoda and Gamble House - the show is a part of Brand X's LA Unheard series. More event info here and tickets available on Ticketweb. The band has also added a handful of new tour dates.

Bio:
In the spring of 2010 Ben S. traveled easterly from Los Angeles to Northern Michigan. He spent a week at the site of his childhood retreats: the shores of Lake Huron. It was there he set to work developing a batch of songs and a week later, the first Lord Huron EP was complete. He named the recording, Into the Sun.

Upon his return to L.A., Ben set to work putting a band together. He called on his percussion-playing childhood friend Mark, who was in Nashville after performing for a time in the Caribbean. Mark swiftly packed up his drums and other gadgets and drove across country to California. The boys then recruited the rest of the Mighty Band, each of whom hails from Michigan.

Lord Huron's music is an auditory travelogue. Evocative of many places, but tied to none in particular. Lush harmonies inspired by Calypso singers, folk traditions and the American frontier fuse with modern experimentation to create the distinctive sound.

The second EP from Lord Huron is called Mighty and it's out now via Bandcamp. Two of the songs from Into the Sun were released on a 7" via Hit City U.S.A. in November of last year.

ARIEL APARICIO TO RELEASE AERIALS ON MARCH 8th

Brooklyn-based, genre-bending musician Ariel Aparicio will be releasing his new album, Aerials, via digital distribution on March 8, 2011, on Rock Ridge Music. The sound of Aerials reflects an all-encompassing love of music. “I wanted to make a dance record, but with all guitars,” he explains. “I was trying to incorporate all the sounds that I heard when I was first going out to clubs where they didn't just play 'dance music,' but would bring in all these other genres that you can dance to and appeal to everyone.”

Aparicio has grown not only as a musician, but also a father, a husband, and a businessman (he co-owns three successful restaurants). He touches on these themes throughout Aerials, while crafting music that reflects that breadth. Aerials moves through pulsating dance rock (“Love Left Bleeding,” an epic in three parts modeled after David Bowie’s landmark “Station to Station”) to intimate ballads (“Flowers”), and juxtaposes churning guitars and shuffling beats a la shoegazer greats like Curve and My Bloody Valentine (“She Can Show Us”) with driving Latin rhythms (“Amor Sangrando,” a Latin reinvention of “Love Lies Bleeding”). The program also accommodates “Sorry,” an older fan favorite about Aparicio coming to terms with his sexuality which features Lisa Germano on vocals. (See full album track list below.)

The seven songs of Aerials began life as demos fashioned by Aparicio and his longtime guitarist, Steve Dawson. Some were tunes that had been kicking around his repertoire for a while, and others sprang forth during furious writing jags. But the project didn't ignite until Aparicio met producer Tom Gilroy, whose tastes proved to be as eclectic as his own. Gilroy had worked on Ciao My Shining Star, the all-star tribute to songwriter Mark Malcahy featuring performances by the National, Thom Yorke, Mercury Rev, and others. It was Gilroy’s work on the Michael Stipe track for album (“Everything’s Coming Undone”) that made Aparicio want to work with the producer.

Born in Cuba and raised in Miami, Aparicio was surrounded by the rhythms of salsa, funk, and disco. The discovery of Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin in adolescence prompted him to grow out his hair and pick up the guitar, but Aparicio never segregated genres from one another. While the wider world is still discovering Aparicio's charms, trendsetters in the LGBT community have been aware of his work for several years; as early as 2005, The Advocate named him as a rising star to watch. His version of Jim Carroll's classic “People Who Died” was nominated for an OutMusic Award in 2010, and Aparicio was also the subject of OUTMusic's 2009 “Freedom of Expression” campaign, an effort to end the silent discrimination against openly queer artists in the entertainment industry. Songs and videos from his previous releases, including the bEdRoom tapeS, All These Brilliant Things, Frolic & F***, and All I Wanted have made him a popular fixture on Logo's NewNowNext and the Click List. His video for the track “Lucille” was ranked #7 on Logo’s Best of 2010, while his cover of “Pretty In Pink” topped out at #3 on the same chart at Logo in 2009. Time Out New York calls him “a recording artist... who plays Gay Pride events and rock & roll clubs with equal élan. ...Bucking the mainstream... Aparicio...continues to defy expectations.” The Houston Chronicle included Aparicio in their “music you should listen to in 2011” feature, saying, “The Miami-bred, Brooklyn-based rocker makes jangly, joyful rock. Not too slick, but accessible enough to warrant more mainstream love.”

Yelle Find Dance-Pop Bliss on Sophomore Album

Safari Disco Club Hits US Shores March 29th on Cooperative USA/Downtown Music

French dance-pop purveyors Yelle return with their long awaited second album, the exotically addictive Safari Disco Club (March 29th; Cooperative USA/Downtown Music). Adding depth and experience to the sweet & sour pop cocktail found on their acclaimed 2007 debut Pop-Up, Yelle find themselves in a more reflective mood and have learned a few new tricks during their time off. The band have been keeping busy – they covered Robyn's “Who's That Girl” as part of the iTunes international exchange, and she covered their track “A Cause Des Garçons” in return. They were also were asked by Katy Perry to remix her hit single “Hot n Cold” which has led to them supporting her UK tour in April.

Yelle is fronted and named by Yelle, nee Julie Budet, a sparky gamine with a deceptively demure schoolgirl voice. Joined by producers GrandMarnier (Jean-Francois Perrier) and Tepr (Tanguy Destable), Yelle first arrived amid a flurry of 80's inspired pop, with the likes of CSS and New Young Pony Club all revered for their take on brightly colored electro. Pop-Up stood out from the crowd with its wry, frothy and unashamedly fun outlook. This infectious appeal not only led to work with Robyn and Katy Perry, but gained them fans in fellow musicians such as M.I.A. and Mika, as well as mainstream personalities like Perez Hilton and Jessica Alba.

The new album’s first single and title track “Safari Disco Club”(which premiered on RCRBLBL this morning), starts with Yelle’s signature bubblegum pop, but soon shifts into a darker sound with a sweeping synth backed by moody dancehall beats. It signals that the innocent and fun part of the party has moved into a more wild and chaotic scene, as Yelle sings over the madness “The animals all dance in the safari disco club”.

If Pop-Up was a breakout set of fun-loving bawdy pop, Safari Disco Club is it's sharper, wiser sibling. Sonically deeper, multi-layered, and emotionally more diverse, it defines Yelle's style and elevates them beyond any particular scenes to find a unique pop voice. It’s an album that takes us on a captivating journey, with as much ingenuity, beauty and mystery as Pop-Up had sparkle and fun.

Indestructible Noise Command Announces US Release of ‘Bleed the Line’ EP

Internationally established thrash metal act INDESTRUCTIBLE NOISE COMMAND is pleased to announce the release of their new Bleed the Line EP, available now in digital format. Fans can download the record at iTunes or Amazon.com now. The Bleed the Line EP was written, recorded and produced by the band between the spring and summer of 2010, aside from the single ‘God Loves Violence’, which was cut by seasoned producer Fredrik Nordström (At the Gates, In Flames, Opeth). The Bleed the Line EP is released on the band’s label, M90 Records, and is the first music that the band has released in 20 years. The artwork for the Bleed the Line EP was illustrated by Dennis Guevera.

EP tracklisting:
1- God Loves Violence (Fredrik Nordström mix)
2- Bleed the Line
3- Rain (feat. Ron Thal of Guns N’ Roses)
4- Full Metal Jacket
5- If I Were President
6- Fueled By Regret

“It felt great being back in the studio after so long,” states lead guitarist Erik Barath. “It didn’t even feel like there was any rust, it just felt natural. It was also amazing to have Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal stop by and lay down a lead on Rain! That guy is an alien from another planet the way he plays guitar!”

INDESTRUCTIBLE NOISE COMMAND and MetalUnderground.com are pleased to post the brand new music video for the single ‘God Loves Violence’, today! Head to this link to view the new video. An original music video depicting scenes of violence and war was posted on YouTube several months ago, but after receiving over 100,000 views in under two weeks, the video was banned. This new video was filmed by New York City based filmmaker Justin Johnson. Justin is known for his popular short political satire, Hillary in Bosnia, which has over 2.4 million views, and was featured on Fox News and other TV outlets.

In addition to this video, MetalUnderground.com has posted a second short video showing guitarist Erik Barath in drummer Dennis Leeflang’s studio working on the lead solo in ‘God Loves Violence’, whilst vocalist Dennis Gergely displays some “interesting” hand motions behind the camera.

Through humble beginnings in Connecticut, INDESTRUCTIBLE NOISE COMMAND exceeded their own expectations and the expectations of others with two successful full-length Giant Records releases, Razorback (1987) and The Visitor (1988). Giant Records signed I.N.C. after witnessing the band’s crushing live performances with the likes of Exodus, Megadeth and King Diamond; all of which taking place only six months after they had graduated high school. In 1988 with The Visitor, the band hit #1 on the CMJ Metal charts and stole the U.K. #2 Import slot out from underneath Aerosmith. Now based in New York City, the band is back with their Bleed the Line EP. I.N.C. is also currently writing and recording a presently untitled release (again with producer Fredrik Nordström), set to hit stores in late Spring 2011. The band will release the full-length with UK-based label Rising Records, who signed the band less than a year after getting back together to record the EP. I.N.C. is an original pioneer of the thrash metal scene, resurrected in order to take back a genre recently flooded with neo-thrash carbon copies. Revived and back with a vengeance, I.N.C. is ready to prove ownership of the scene in 2011.

INDESTRUCTIBLE NOISE COMMAND is:
Erik Barath – Guitar
Tony Fabrizi – Guitar
Dennis Gergely – Vocals
Dennis Leeflang – Drums
Samuel J. Roon – Bass

Fire Records releases self-titled Bardo Pond record

Mp3:
Bardo Pond -- "Cracker Wrist"
http://tinyurl.com/6ecn9z6
Bardo Pond - "Don't Know About You"
http://tinyurl.com/64l2oyu

Fire Records is excited to announce the new release from Philadelphia's Bardo Pond. This is the first Bardo Pond recording for Fire Records. Bardo Pond will be released in the US, tomorrow, January 11, 2011. To celebrate the release, we're giving away a second track from the record; the nine minute epic, "Cracker Wrist"!

Bardo Pond have put out many LPs, most of them named after hallucinogens that make you throw up all night and see things - which was kind of them. The titles let you know what you were in for. All of this recorded output is pretty staggering, because, without exception, they seemed able to toss a lasso around some sort of ineffable hoodoo that felt like it was a million years old. If Carl Sagan would have 1.) smoked a little more weed and 2.) not croaked, we like to think he would have cut a Bardo Pond track onto a Voyager Golden Record and blasted it into space. It may well be a better representation of the best parts of the human spirit than Chuck Berry is.

This cauldron is a bit of a different brew than previous Bardo Pond efforts. It makes sense that the name of the LP is simply Bardo Pond. Why? It's a distillation. Two decades of playing together have sandblasted away everything unessential and left us with what we have here. It was like no one else before them had ever gotten near the plagal cadence, not Lou Reed or the Stooges or 2,000 years of church music. They invented it all over again, independent of any of that, after God knows how many years of flailing away and burning themselves up.

About Metal Mother

The bay area’s burgeoning dark folk phenomenon, Metal Mother, will release her first full-length album, Bonfire Diaries, on March 7th, 2011 led by the single “Billy Cruz” (MP3) on January 11th. Metal Mother visionary Tara Tati drew inspiration for the Bonfire Diaries album from her travels on the backroads of the US, in the deserts of Mexico, and in the Amazon jungle.

Invoking fervent emotion from these experiences, woven together with catchy melodies and alluring lyrical themes of revolution and urban romance, Bonfire Diaries incorporates an experimental mixture of electronic and live world drums and percussion to form a booming and trance-evoking foundation for Tati’s haunting, celtic-inspired vocals.

A California native, Tati first introduced herself to music-making in 2004 after taking a job organizing a vaudeville stage called the Calliope Wondershow, at the annual Harmony Festival, in Santa Rosa, California. Coming off of a long journey of travel, activism, and neo-tribal lifestyle, Tati was studying botany and permaculture when she inherited her first keyboard.

Tati has been deeply influenced and swept away by various underground scenes from a young age. 1960’s underdog bands such as The Velvet Underground and The Grateful Dead, post-punk artists such as The Talking Heads and Kate Bush, the mid-nineties San Francisco rave scene, the rowdy and intricate arrangements of Eastern European gypsy music, and finally by a growing understanding of ethnic and tribal rhythms and traditions.

Other than music, her inspirations include the literature of Anais Nin, her relationships with plants and animals, the films of Jean-Pierre Jeanet, and the works of photographer Jean-Paul Goude. The one quality that has tied together all of her inspirations is a fervent desire for spiritual revolution, which, is the core message and undertone of the Bonfire Diaries album.

AOL Mail (1638)Lovely Hearts Club Presents: Moving Units

"Not to be confused with 'Pink Thoughts', their quintessential break-up song, or Pink’s rendition of 'Redemption Song', this new track reflects the band’s excogitation on the difficulties of trying to 'harmonize the dualities in everyday life' — which I interpret as 'Why is life so damn hard sometimes?!?!'" - URB.com

Every once in a while a new indie dance rock revolution pops up from the not so distant future to finish the war they started and lay claim to their territory. That revolution is right here, right now...and it's pink!

Moving Units have released a brand new single, "Pink Redemption" as part of their upcoming EP titled Tension War which will be self-released this Valentine's Day with the help of Post Modern and Indigenous. "Pink Redemption" is a reinterpretation of "Pink Thoughts" from their previous album, Hexes For Exes.

Originally having discovered Moving Units a few years back and inevitably starting dance parties every time their songs came on, The Lovely Hearts Club is psyched to bring this goodie to you in anticipation of the many dance parties to come in 2011!

SINGER/SONGWRITER ANNA WARONKER RELEASES THE ANNA WARONKER EP

New EP’s Debut to Coincide with California Fade Release

http://annawaronker.com
(Hollywood, CA) January 7, 2011: Not content to rest on her laurels, Los Angeles based singer, songwriter, and composer Anna Waronker is delivering an EP to coincide with her new album, California Fade, on Five-Foot-Two Records. The personal tone and stripped down instrumentation of the four-track EP are the perfect compliments to California Fade’s lush arrangements and detailed production. “I wanted to show an even more different side of myself on the EP,” says Waronker, “believe it or not, the lyrics feel even more personal than ever before.”

The Anna Waronker EP will be available as a bonus record in the upcoming deluxe and expanded vinyl edition of California Fade. Only two tracks from the EP, “This Place” and “I Never Want To See Your Face Again,” will be available digitally as bonus tracks to the digital download of California Fade. Waronker explains, “most of the songs on the EP are the first ones I had written for myself since my son was born and, since California Fade had been in the making for so long, I wanted to add something new to the mix. I think it’s a really good addendum to the record; it certainly is from a personal standpoint.”

Each of the songs from The Anna Waronker EP give the listener a candid picture of the artist’s life since her debut solo album, Anna by Anna Waronker. The fourth track on the EP, “Can You Feel My Love?” is the first recorded song from Anna Waronker and Charlotte Caffey’s Lovelace: A Rock Opera. “Can You Feel My Love?” gives those who haven’t seen Lovelace a sneak peak at one of the rock opera’s highlights, and offers those who have seen Lovelace a new take on a fan favorite.

The Anna Waronker EP is produced and performed by Anna Waronker.

Sonic Unyon Metal To Reissue Debut AUGURY Album This March

Canadian-based Sonic Unyon Metal are proud to announce that they'll officially reissue Concealed, the classic first album from progressive death metal outfit AUGURY, this March. Originally released in 2004 via Galy Records, this updated version features a fully remastered recording of the album, also expanded to include two bonus tracks from the band's 2006 demo. This definitive edition will also be packaged in a new digipak format, designed by Sven De Calluwe of Aborted.

Formed in Montreal, Quebec at the end of 2001, AUGURY immediately made an impact in the Canadian death metal scene with their technical/classically-inspired progressive death metal attack. The unit entered the studio with Yannick St-Amand (Martyr, Unexpect) in 2004 to record their Concealed debut. The record was mixed by Jean-Francois Dagenais (Kataklysm, Misery Index) and then set loose upon the anxious public. After the release of Concealed, AUGURY signed with Nuclear Blast Records, who in 2009 unveiled the band's critically acclaimed 2009 album Fragmentary Evidence, further cementing the band's name into the upper ranks of the progressive death scene.

Sonic Unyon Metal will re-unleash Concealed to North American audiences on March 8th, 2011. Check out the updated artwork and more at this location.

Lower Dens shares new single "Batman," covers Mayo Thompson, adds new tour dates

Bio:

Swarming guitar fuzz, bass waves, Jana Hunter's voice, and insistent drum throbs are the core components of Baltimore's Lower Dens. Hunter, sometimes known for intimate, ghost-heavy weird-fi, is now writing and playing with a group that might get filed as new wave, or drone pop, or post-punk. With due deference to her solo work, we're very glad.

The swarming wave-throb, coupled with Hunter's lyrics and redolent, charred voice, wrecks. The band's debut record, Twin-Hand Movement, is eleven perfect songs long. From opener "Blue & Silver" (anxiety mounts at a quick clip until the final climactic release) to "Plastic & Powder" (a churning, narcotic slow-burner) to "Hospice Gates" (penultimate album cut, proud weirdo anthem, possible creative zenith), not one is a space-taker. They're rife with the survivalist paranoia you'd expect from residents of a post-urban port hole (and this particular songwriter), crafted methodically and beautifully, and carry you enthusiastically out into the rolling breaks of industrial filth-water.

Lower Dens formed in 2009, when Hunter set about finding a full-time band. They spent the rest of the year sweating in attics and basements, and only stepped out of the shadows to do a quick tour and record. Twin-Hand Movement was recorded by Chris Freeland (ex-Oxes drummer; proprietor of Beat Babies, Baltimore), mixed by Chris Coady (at his DNA, NYC), and mastered by Sarah Register (of the Lodge, NYC and the band Talk Normal.)

SALT-N-PEPA KICKS OFF 20-CITY LEGENDS OF HIP-HOP TOUR

Also Features Kurtis Blow, Doug E. Fresh, Whodini, Kool Moe Dee, Slick Rick,
MC Lyte, Rob Base, Naughty By Nature and Biz Markie

New York, NY - Legends, icons, trailblazers, pioneers, innovators and trendsetters are just a few words often used to describe this group. From Grammys to MTV Video Awards, they have won them all. Whether it's the top of the charts or on stages at sold out coliseums across the country, they have done it all. They are Grammy Award winning group, Salt-N-Pepa, which consists of Cheryl James and Sandy Denton ("Salt" and "Pepa", respectively), and Deidre "Dee Dee" Roper (DJ Spinderella).

As the first ever female rap crew, Salt-N-Pepa, broke barriers and opened doors wide open that were once closed to women in hip-hop. They gave women a voice in a male dominated industry and transformed the way the music world saw women forever. With the hit songs "Push It," "Tramp,""Shake Your Thang," "Shoop" and "Whatta Man," Salt-N-Pepa would defy everyone's expectations and catapult hip-hop to new levels

As the New Year approaches, Salt-N-Pepa have commissioned some of their closest friends and some of hip-hop's greatest artists to join forces with them for the 2011 installment of Salt-N-Pepa's "Legends of Hip-Hop Tour." The VH1 reality show, "The Salt-N-Pepa Show," officially reunited the ladies and made them realize that people really wanted to see them together again. After that, they decided to settle their differences and make this tour and several new ventures happen. Salt-N-Pepa's "Legends of Hip-Hop Tour" is the first of many for them.

Artists who will be coming together with Salt-N-Pepa on stages across the country include Kurtis Blow, Doug E. Fresh, Whodini, Kool Moe Dee, Slick Rick, MC Lyte, Rob Base, Naughty By Nature and Biz Markie. The tour kicks off February 4th in Cleveland, OH at the Wolstein Center. Each city on the tour will have different artist line-ups. Select cities on the tour are on sale now. For more information on tickets and artists log onto, http://www.ticketmaster.com/, http://www.snplegendsofhiphop.com/ or http://www.saltnpepa.net/.

From all of Salt-N-Pepa's greatest hits to "Freaks Come Out At Night," by Whodini, "The Breaks," from Kurtis Blow, "The Show" from Doug E. Fresh, "Children's Story" from Slick Rick," "How Ya Like Me Now" from Kool Moe Dee, "Cha, Cha, Cha" from MC Lyte, "It Takes Two" from Rob Base, "O.P.P." from Naughty By Nature, and "Just a Friend" from Biz Markie, audiences will be able to rhyme with their favorite rappers and relive it all up close and in person for one night. According to Salt-N-Pepa, The "Legends of Hip -Hop Tour" will be a night of non-stop music and nostalgia.

"We encounter so many people who said they long to hear and see us again in concert," said Salt. "People really miss seeing us out there. They come up to us and mention that our music touched them, brings back so many great memories for them and helped them just see life differently."

Salt-N-Pepa will headline and present the "Legends of Hip -Hop Tour." Last year a smaller version of the tour saw unprecedented success. This time around, more dates have been added to the trek across the country and no expenses have been spared on the production value of the tour in an effort to give their fans more of what they miss from the "LIVE" music and rap scene.

"Last year, the response was incredible. From Atlanta to DC, we sold out each date," said Pepa. "People really want to see us and we really wanted to make this happen for our fans. Also, the timing was just right and it just all came together perfectly."

Now, on the 25th anniversary of Salt-N-Pepa's first album release, 1986's Hot, Cool, & Vicious, which featured the hit song, "Push It,"this tour has an extra special added value. Salt-N-Pepa are still at it a quarter of a century later introducing themselves to a new generation of fans and still making those that grew up listening to their music continue to feel the excitement and energy that only SNP can provide.

"We know that the tour happens to be occurring during a milestone in our musical career, but more importantly it gives us an opportunity to reconnect with our fans and our friends in the business," said Salt. "When you have a chance to see people again that you've met along the way and hear their stories again, there's nothing like it in the world."

Outside of the realm of being legends of the hip hop game, Grammy Award winning group, Salt-N-Pepa can also be called "revolutionaries of rap" and "groundbreakers of the game.". Not only using their mic as a means to make big beats and heads bob, but they also used it as means to get out messages of importance and relevance. From safe sex to independence and respecting yourself as a woman, Salt-N-Pepa saw the urgency and importance of empowering the female race and using their voices through the mic to influence millions with their music.

No matter what you call them, Salt-N-Pepa, along with the other artists on the tour revolutionized a people, changed a culture and totally revamped the way the world saw music forever. You can't list or mention the top rap songs of all time without their hit songs showing up. And you can't talk about music history without mentioning their names. Their contributions to a culture and to the world of hip hop has influenced the landscape and look of music as we know it today.

"Recently, we had the opportunity to see Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera at events where we were performing. One of the first things they said to us was 'we are such big fans, we absolutely love you and your music,' " said Pepa. It just blows our mind when we see the impact that we've had throughout the years on such huge, well respected mega stars like them. It's both humbling and an honor all at the same time. It just goes to show us that superstars appreciate our music and we have genuinely impacted and touched their lives and continue to touch the lives of millions of our fans."

Still Flyin to release Neu Ideas this February feat contributions from Papercuts, Love Is All, Hood Internet, more...

MP3: "Victory Walker" (Papercuts remix)
http://terrorbird.alphapupserver.com/online/VictoryWalkerPapercutsRemix.mp3
MP3: "Victory Walker" (2 AM)
http://terrorbird.alphapupserver.com/online/VictoryWalker2am.mp3

Still Flyin' are back with a little holiday cheer, after a flurry of releases during the previous year. What would be a more fitting way to recap a successful year than with a 2010 release retrospective? This release will combine the two 7 inch releases and the super 12 inch, A Party in Motion EP. As a bonus, they have asked some of their friends to reinterpret some of these very tracks. Titled Neu Ideas features remixes by Hood Internet, Love is All, Papercuts, Elephant and Castle, Birds and Batteries, Signals, and more!

Back in the spring of 2010, Still Flyin' released the breakneck party single "Runaway Train II" b/w "All Lips Touch". Both songs were a continuation of their dance pop formula Still Flyin' was vibing on with their debut LP Never Gonna Touch the Ground. While "Runaway Train II" was billed as a sequel to the '90's Alt-rock sociological sing-a-long "Runaway Train" by Soul Asylum. However, this time around Still Flyin' has managed to breathe new life into this story of a failed cross-country trip. "All Lips Touch" sees the band at one of their tightest moments to date, rapping up a mini-dance party in under a mere two and a half minutes.

Last summer, many folks got a taste of what Still Flyin' had been experiencing for a couple of years now, the power of the kraut. After many European tours jammin' the autobahn in our sardine-like sprinter van, lead dude SA Rawls started feeling the pulsating rhythms overcoming his brain. His answer was to funnel these new songs into the Still Flyin' machine. The result, A Party in Motion, a 12 inch of a different kind of dance jam. Bookended by two of their longest songs, the record is intended to be jammed straight through. "Bull Riff" is a true kraut rock anthem. "Higher than Five" is really like a human centipede of three different ideas, but what is realized is a very strong groove that continues all the way through the EP.

The last 7 inch is what some have called their best song, "Victory Walker 2 am". The idea behind this track was inspired by indie stalwart and fellow band member Gary Olsen. Mr. Olsen who is known for his Victory Walks after a gig, in which he would strut from the stage to bar casually nodding to the audience's approval. The character in the song is an ode to the Victory Walker in each of us. Think of it as a modern day reinvention of Cory Hart's "I Wear my Sunglasses at Night". The flip side, "Victory Walker 6 am", finds the Victory Walker stumbling home after an all night coke binge.

At home, is where we find the band now. Fresh off recording their proper full length follow up to Never Gonna Touch the Ground, the band is resting and preparing for what is sure to be an even bigger 2011. Look for the new record in the spring along with yet another reinvention of the HAMMJAMM sound.

"Shout-outs to Eddy Grant's "Electric Avenue" and Lipps Inc.'s "Funky Town" jostle elbows with nods to Swedish pop and show-tune punk, and it's all channeled through a North American indie sensibility."
- Pitchfork Media

"Still Flyin' are a jaw-dropping live act that pack even more excitement into their show than you'd expect from a band of more than a dozen members. Everyone on stage was throwing themselves into the performance - especially the really tall guy who only seemed to enthusiastically dance behind the lead singer. I love the idea that a nationally touring band would bring along a guy just to dance."
- You Ain't No Picasso

"Fun is the new not-fun, and Still Flyin' exemplifies that ethos...Still Flyin' is a sweet-ass band."

“Songs that manage to be happy and haunting all at once” FILTER

"Singh and Laurent have an easy way with large but unexpected arrangements, bouncing from banjo, trumpet, xylophone, and clarinet, sometimes within the same song" UNDER THE RADAR

"Like Grizzly Bear and Mercury Rev taking drugs yet to be invented, the band's music draws on the delicacy of chamber instruments"
LA TIMES

“Pepper Rabbit makes swinging pop that sounds like the result of a raid on Sufjan Steven’s instrument stash” FILTER

“From trumpets, accordions, banjos, ukulele, and even the piano – these guys can and do play it all. How would we describe the sound? Avant-garde folk would be a good place to start.” KEXP

“This is a joyful album” PopMatters

Los Angeles duo Pepper Rabbit is thrilled to announce upcoming west coast tour dates, where they will be supporting Ra Ra Riot and post SXSW dates with Miniature Tigers. Following the October 2010 release of their debut album, Beauregard, on Kanine Records, Pepper Rabbit spent the fall touring the US with Cotton Jones, hitting CMJ, followed by a trek across Canada with Rural Alberta Advantage, and then finishing out the year on the west coast supporting Passion Pit and Freelance Whales.

Xander Singh and Luc Laurent originally met in Boston, where the two began making music together. They then recorded their debut LP, Beauregard, in New Orleans, and chose to make their live debut in India before settling in Los Angeles. Recently, the band has earned high praises from both peers and press, receiving coverage in Under The Radar, Seattle’s KEXP, New York’s WNYC, Blackbook and a feature in FILTER.

Pepper Rabbit's live performances are done as a trio, treating listeners to a kaleidoscopic tapestry of sound, created with an array of instruments ranging from ukulele to clarinet, pounding rhythms and heavy synths.
