Concrete Blonde

Announce Tour Celebrating
Bloodletting’s Twentieth Anniversary!
First Live Dates in 7 Years!

Forget about Twilight and True Blood, Concrete Blonde’s landmark album Bloodletting is turning 20 and the real vampires are coming to have a drink and walk around a city near you! Concrete Blonde will tour the US for the first time in 7 years with a set list celebrating the album and their career. Released in 1990, Bloodletting spawned the top 20 hit “Joey,” as well as Concrete Blonde classics “Tomorrow, Wendy”, “Caroline”, and “The Sky Is a Poisonous Garden”. It quickly became their most successful album.

Lead singer Johnette Napolitano explains how the tour came about: “People started emailing me and calling me up and telling me that it was the twentieth anniversary of Bloodletting, which had “Joey” on it and was a big hit for us all over the world. My dad passed away recently and was a big fan of the band and it occurred to me that a twentieth anniversary’s only going to happen once and that my dad would have said that it’s a good idea and that we should do it. So we knocked it together and it looks like it’s going to be fun, doing twenty-year-old vampire songs should be fun.”

Concrete Blonde formed in Los Angeles in 1982 and became one of the most beloved alternative bands in the US. Characterized by Napolitano’s inimitable voice, brutally honest lyrics, and the band’s fearless sound that ranges from punk to ballads to Latin music, Concrete Blonde are true originals whose influence can be felt far and wide. Beyond Bloodletting, the band is responsible for classic alternative songs including “Still in Hollywood”, “God is a Bullet”, and their iconic cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Everybody Knows”. Don’t miss your chance to see these legends live!

For the further details, please visit www.recoil.co.uk.

Alan Wilder’s years in the music industry have seen him go from studio assistant to session keyboard player, but it was his 14 years as a member of Depeche Mode where he really honed his skills. With his attention to detail in the studio, Wilder pushed the boundaries even within the restrictive climate of commercial pop. As an antidote to the demands of the Mode, his studio project Recoil was born in the mid-eighties. Two albums were released: ‘Hydrology’ (1988) and ‘Bloodline’ (1990) both giving an indication of his expanding horizons. After his departure from Depeche Mode in 1995, Wilder resurrected Recoil full-time and has since released ‘Unsound Methods’ (1997), ‘Liquid’ (2000) and most recently ‘subHuman’ (2007).

a-ha Tour the U.S. for First Time in Over Twenty Years

Just in Time to Say Goodbye with
FAREWELL TOUR 2010

Multi-million selling Norwegian trio a-ha will return to North America next week for 7 shows, before heading back to Europe for the final leg of their year-long world-wide Farewell Tour. The band will perform together for the very last time in Oslo on 4 December 2010.

Following a fantastic international career spanning 25 years and over 35 million albums sold, a-ha’s Morten Harket, Magne Furuholmen and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy will perform their final shows together exactly 25 years after the release of the band’s multi-platinum debut album Hunting High & Low and debut single “Take On Me”, which reached number 1 in 27 countries including the USA. Since that time, “Take On Me” has been played 3 million times on American radio… the equivalent of 375 times a day for 22 years! For a blast from the past, check out the video for “Take On Me” here.

In the mid 80’s the Norwegian trio created teenage hysteria and general pandemonium wherever they went. All told, the band has released 9 studio albums in 25 years, and toured the world many times (more than 500 concerts in 33 countries to be exact), including the legendary show at Maracana Stadium, Rio De Janeiro in 1991 which earned a Guinness World Record for the largest-ever audience attendance at a paid concert – 196,000 people (George Michael, Prince and Guns N' Roses managed to gather only sixty thousand each).

In 2006 the band received the ‘Q Inspiration Award’ in honor of their lasting musical influence. The band returned to the UK Top 5 in 2009 with the album Foot Of The Mountain. The video for the title track can be seen here. In recent years the focus has shifted to the musical legacy they will leave behind, inspiring a whole generation of artists such as Coldplay and Keane to Kanye West, Oasis, The Strokes, Robbie Williams and U2.

The band would like to thank their fans and everyone who has contributed to their amazing journey and say, “We’ve literally lived the ultimate boy’s adventure tale, through a longer, more rewarding career than anyone could hope for. Doing this now will give us a chance to get more involved in other meaningful aspects of life, be it humanitarian work, politics, or whatever else – and of course through new constellations in the field of art and music. We are retiring as a band, not as individuals. Change is always difficult and it is easy to get set in one’s ways. Now it is time to move on.” In keeping with their interest in humanitarian and global causes, a-ha still own a sizeable part of the Amazon rainforest as part of a 1980's reforestation/preservation scheme.

BLOOD INTO WINE

SCREENING AT 5 POINTS THEATRE ON MAY 15
1028 Park Street
Jacksonville, FL 32204
(904) 359-0047
www.5pointstheatre.com

LOS ANGELES, Apr. 26 -- Blood Into Wine, the documentary about Maynard James Keenan (front man for Tool, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle) and vineyard partner Eric Glomski’s mission to bring notoriety and credibility to Northern Arizona’s burgeoning wine industry, screens at 5 Points Theatre on May 15.

Blood Into Wine was co-directed by Ryan Page and Christopher Pomerenke, the team behind critically acclaimed documentaries Moog and The Heart Is a Drum Machine and upcoming feature film Queens of Country (starring Lizzy Caplan and Ron Livingston). FilmCritic.com called the film: "a rock 'n roll version of Sideways,” the Los Angeles Times said “The frisson between his [Keenan] well-crafted personal mystique and the way the film presents him as a dedicated new winemaker learning his craft is intriguing” and the San Diego CityBeat added: "It’s a behind-the-curtain peek at a notoriously publicity-shy celebrity, but more than that, it’s a fascinating look at pioneers braving the Arizona elements to create drinkable art."

The film also features a number of actors and comedians including Milla Jovovich, Patton Oswalt, Eric Wareheim, Tim Heidecker and Bob Odenkirk.
