Plastikman Arkives Pre-Order site now live

* Richie Hawtin comments on the Arkives project

Plastikman's Arkives is a comprehensive box set that pulls together all 17 years of the Plastikman story so far, including remastered versions of all six previously released Plastikman albums and a trove of rarities, unreleased sessions and new material.

Richie Hawtin comments: “Arkives is the first time that I've collected together all the material under the name Plastikman. Once this is released, for me, it's everything that I know, that I have, that I believe is ready or needs to be heard for people to get a full understanding of what Plastikman is today. Where it's come from, where it's been, where it is now, and hopefully to prepare people for where it might go in the future.”

Arkives is a strictly limited, made-to-order edition—only as many copies will be manufactured as have been pre-ordered— that will be released in four different formats:

* Reference (11-disc CD/DVD/book edition)
* Analog (6 records on 180-gram vinyl in a deluxe box, with poster)
* Digital (digital download version)
* Komplete (Reference & Analog + bonus digital downloads)

Arkives Reference, the main personalized edition, features 11 CDs and 1 DVD. The deluxe packaging includes a slipcase with foldout sleeves for all 12 discs, plus a 64-page book that tells the Plastikman story in archival photos and a newly commissioned text. The set includes newly remastered versions of all six previously released Plastikman albums—Sheet One, Musik, Recycled Plastik, Consumed, Artifakts (B.C.), and Closer—and five further CDs of rare and unreleased material.

Editions can now be pre-ordered at www.plastikman.com/arkives until December 31, 2010. The site also carries full album tracklist information.

The releases are priced as follows:
• Reference €129 Europe / $199 Rest of world
• Analog €55 Europe / $89 Rest of world
• Digital €59 all territories
• Komplete (Reference + Analog) €159 Europe / $239 Rest of world

There will also be special bonus content for everyone who orders before November 14: an exclusive Plastikman mix CD upon ordering, plus a Xmas card and unreleased digital music, which will be received by Christmas.

Richie Hawtin continues: “Trying to put Arkives together has been a jigsaw puzzle, a needle-in-a-haystack situation. So much of the content has been spread out all over the world. I made one special trip back to Canada just for this, and I was just going through boxes of things in the studio. Finding not only DATs of music I totally forgot about, but also photos and images and flyers of things I didn't even really remember happening. It's 18 years of history. This project, I hope, is an inspiring and interesting journey for everyone who becomes part of it, who reads the book and listens to the music, but for me also it's been a journey myself. People are complaining about the music industry going down, about the lack of sales, that people are only downloading digital content or even just trading it. But I believe that if you can bring music together in a package and add something greater—we have a book, we have unreleased material and photos—it becomes something greater than the sum of its parts. It's a whole experience.”

BIO:

Long before Richie Hawtin became what he is today—superstar DJ, mastermind of the Minus label, entrepreneur, technological innovator, style icon—he was best known for a single project: PLASTIKMAN.

Between 1993 and 2003, PLASTIKMAN created an astonishing body of work, one that didn't so much define a time and place as explode them, expanding the dimensions of Detroit techno and redefining the possibilities of electronic dance music itself.

Across six albums (Sheet One, Musik, Recycled Plastik, Consumed, Artifakts (B.C.), and Closer) and numerous singles like "Spastik," "Plastique," and "Sickness," PLASTIKMAN evolved into one of contemporary electronic music's most distinctive voices: minimalist, psychedelic, groovy as anything, ever mindful of the transcendent properties of pure electronic sound.

The records alone would be enough to make a legend out of anyone, but Hawtin—as PLASTIKMAN—also had something else going for him: some of the most intense, unhinged, and mind-bending parties that underground electronic music has ever known. Held mostly in and around Detroit and Hawtin's home town of Windsor, Ontario, these events' reputations spread worldwide, by word-of-mouth and message board, to become legendary moments in the history of underground electronic music.

The recipe for their success wasn't exactly rocket science, despite Hawtin's contemporary reputation for technological innovation. The parties were based upon the model that Hawtin had experienced as a teenager at Detroit's legendary Music Institute: a black sweatbox of a room, a single strobe light, and the loudest, fullest sound system that the walls could withstand.

Beginning with those Spartan elements, Hawtin and his friends staged increasingly elaborate events whose every detail was intended for the sole purpose of pulling people out of the everyday and plunging them into the unknown. Their success was attributable equally to the crew's bootstrap ingenuity and uncompromising standards.

Events like Hard, Harder, Hardest, Heaven & Hell, Jak, Sickness & Recovery, and the Fuk Tour raised the bar for what was possible from an underground—which is to say, illegal—party; they not only made PLASTIKMAN a hero across the Midwestern USA, they helped create the platform for an entire scene to develop.

At a time when American rave culture was ballooning with cartoonish neon excess, PLASTIKMAN's parties emphasized fundamentals. But this wasn't the back-to-basics aesthetic of retro-leaning dance-music scenes. They used the materials at hand to create their otherworldly, out-of-body experiences.

The materials could be as basic as a roll of black plastic sheeting that covered the walls and ceiling or as elaborate as 40,000 square feet of abandoned automobile factory. They transformed the spaces they used, rarely setting up in the same place twice, and always altering the structure so completely that if you returned the next day, you would never know what had taken place there. For the duration of the party, it was a world unto itself, cocooned in black plastic or cushioned with four inches of foam. There were probing lights, bowls of fresh fruit, pools full of goldfish, Melba toast dipped in acid.

They mounted four-point sound systems when two were standard. They arranged speakers in the round, the better to immerse the dancers. Their sound system, standing over two heads high, became so famous that it earned its own name—the System—and logo. The speakers ran so hot that they glowed deep inside. Partiers attributed nearly mystical properties to the System, latching onto it like lampreys, becoming one with the vibrations.

Expanding upon the system of info lines and map points that was common in the underground, they developed an extensive mailing list of fans across the Midwest, ensuring dedicated crowds that would travel eight or ten hours for any PLASTIKMAN event. By shrouding their parties in secrecy, they stayed one step ahead of both the cops and the commercial mainstream. They were exclusive but inclusive, designed to remain hidden to all but those committed few who wanted to come along on the journey, but open to anyone who made the effort to discover them.

Even if PLASTIKMAN is inseparable from the context that created him, the music—which is how most of the world has encountered PLASTIKMAN—more than stands on its own. The recordings were as groundbreaking as the events, suggesting new directions and new shapes for techno at every step; indeed, the parties and the records were inextricably connected, each feeding into the other in a dialectic of delirium.

In 1993, Sheet One, with a cover designed to look (and feel) like acid blotter, set the conditions for the PLASTIKMAN project. It was intended as a cohesive, album-length statement at a time when techno was mostly a matter of singles; without knowing exactly what he was embarking upon, and without even having yet invented PLASTIKMAN, Hawtin recorded virtually the entire thing, more or less in sequence, across two days and nights in the studio he dubbed UTK (or Under The Kitchen), in the basement of his parents' house in Windsor, Ontario. Released in Canada on Hawtin and John Acquaviva's Plus 8 label, and overseas by NovaMute, it changed the shape of techno virtually overnight.

PLASTIKMAN followed up little more than a year later with Musik, an even fuller exploration of the area between techno and ambient listening music. Like Sheet One, Musik focused on the sound of Roland's TB-303, shaping its output into a lithe, lyrical form that was worlds away from the strident grind of acid house as it had been conventionally known. More than anything, it challenged techno's harder/faster/louder trajectory by slowing down and tripping out, just as PLASTIKMAN’s extended DJ sets took dancers on a journey from passion to mania to something like a kind of enlightened calm.

In 1995, just as the PLASTIKMAN phenomenon was exploding—thanks to the two albums, the parties in Detroit and Toronto, and PLASTIKMAN live shows from Glastonbury to Tokyo—Hawtin was caught crossing the border without work papers and barred from entering the United States. In the end, he was able to return after a year and a half, but the experience affected him profoundly, and PLASTIKMAN subsequently took an even darker, more introspective turn. 1998's Consumed reflected that period of isolation and exile, as well as Hawtin's own ambivalence towards his growing fame. After several years of no-holds-barred parties, Consumed wasn't so much a comedown as a new and unexpected phase of a psychedelic trip that showed no end. Inspired in part by a sense of spatial and personal dislocation that he had experienced one night on acid, deep in the Michigan countryside, Consumed was both PLASTIKMAN's darkest, strangest album and also his best selling. (It was even nominated for Prix Ars Electronica's esteemed Golden Nica award.)

Artifakts (B.C.) followed in the same year, collecting unreleased material intended for an album that had been preempted by what became Consumed. That unfinished album had been intended as the third piece in a trilogy containing Sheet One and Musik—just one of many examples where Hawtin has looked beyond techno's conventional units of measurement (the one-off party, the single, the album), using multi-part series to explore more nuanced ideas at greater length.

In 2003, Hawtin returned with a fifth PLASTIKMAN album, Closer. By now, he had moved from Windsor to New York and was well on his way to becoming the Richie Hawtin we know today. Minus had established a new, global community of artists and fans; Hawtin's reputation as a DJ had exploded, thanks in part to his adventurous mix CDs (Decks, EFX & 909, DE9 | Closer to the Edit, and DE9 | Transitions), and he was headlining bigger and bigger clubs and festivals all over the world. The same year, he moved from New York to Berlin, taking advantage of the European location to take his career to even greater heights.

But for Closer, Hawtin returned to Windsor and delved deep into his alter ego once again, molding the hallmarks of PLASTIKMAN's sound into newly alien forms as he probed the deepest recesses of his own psyche. In an unintended twist upon the album's title, Closer closed a chapter of the PLASTIKMAN story: at the time, Hawtin believed it was the last time he would record in Windsor, a city he believed to be inseparable from PLASTIKMAN himself. Between 2004 and 2007, Hawtin released three PLASTIKMAN singles in a series called Nostalgik, suggesting that perhaps the project was forever to be relegated to the history books. But in 2010 Hawtin returned with Plastikman Live, a wildly ambitious multimedia show combining live performance of PLASTIKMAN classics and synchronized visuals played out on a massive, semi-circular LED screen.

The tour has taken PLASTIKMAN to more than a dozen cities and festival locations worldwide, and it will continue in 2011. After that? Hawtin has hinted at beginning a new chapter of PLASTIKMAN's remarkable story, perhaps to include new recordings, perhaps to focus on even more outrageous and innovative incursions into multimedia live performance.

Before that next phase can start, however, Hawtin has decided that it's time to take stock of everything that's happened until now, gathering together his oldest fans and newest devotees—some of whom are too young to have experienced PLASTIKMAN in his initial heyday—with ARKIVES, a massive box set compiling remastered versions of all six PLASTIKMAN albums along with five additional CDs of rarities, unreleased material, and brand-new remixes of classic PLASTIKMAN tracks from such luminaries as Vince Clarke, Cliff Martinez, Francois Kevorkian, Moby, Chris & Cosey, Severed Heads, Flood, and Mute's Daniel Miller & Gareth Jones. A DVD of live footage and PLASTIKMAN videos rounds out the set, and the deluxe packaging includes a slipcase with foldout sleeves for all 12 discs, plus a 64-page book that tells the PLASTIKMAN story in archival photos and a newly commissioned text.

ARKIVES presents the definitive history of PLASTIKMAN until now, leaving the door wide open for the history yet to be written.

Fresh out of the studio from recording their new record When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes, YELLOWCARD are getting ready for a busy first half of 2011 on the road. With UK and Asian tour dates already announced, the boys have announced the U.S. portion of their tour. Kicking off on the East Coast in Sayreville, NJ’s Starland Ballroom on March 25th and circling around the country, the band will be direct support for Hopeless Records labelmates All Time Low on “The Dirty Work Tour” (Hey Monday and The Summer Set will accompany the bands on tour).

Gearing up for the release of their seventh album When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes on March 22, 2011 via Hopeless Records, Yellowcard have called this record “the product of thousands of miles of traveling to write together, hundreds of emails containing demos and new ideas, and finally, eight weeks of twelve hour studio days, working together again as a full band.” With over three million of their previous records sold, Ryan Key (vocals/guitar) and original members Sean Mackin (violin) and Longineu (“LP”) Parsons (drums) continuing with Ryan Mendez (guitar) will be joined by longtime friend of the band Sean O’Donnell (bass), whose addition has been described as a “natural fit” for the current mindset and progression of the group. Die Krupps

ALS WÄREN WIR FÜR IMMER (Mini-Album)
SPV/STEAMHAMMER

'Als wären wir für immer' is the first DIE KRUPPS (mini) album with exclusively new material since 1997!

With this mini-album, DIE KRUPPS again are breaking new ground, without denying their roots or moving away from their own unique sound... this album is 100% DIE KRUPPS... DIE KRUPPS 2011!

Dance floor killers meet groove monsters, moving through the room like a steamroller... catchy melodies, massive hooks and lyrics with a message are DIE KRUPPS trademarks, and this album proves it again: body and mind are in perfect synchronicity!

The remixes complete the picture and show the broad spectrum of DIE KRUPPS music - and prove that remixes can very well have a purpose... the UNHEILIG remix for example was a result of a show both bands played together 3 years ago, when UNHEILIG was not yet the headlining band they are today... out of pure sympathy, both bands agreed to remix each other’s music... the DIE KRUPPS remix was the first to be released, but because the band is only now releasing a new album, the UNHEILIG remix of 'Beyond' wasn't released earlier... fortunately, the track hasn't aged a bit and sounds as fresh and exciting as it did when it was originally conceived.

'Dr. Mabuse', an '80s classic by Ralf Dörper’s former band PROPAGANDA, which has been in DIE KRUPPS’ live repertoire since the early '90s and was played more frequently again in recent years, also found its way onto this album... it was decided that it was finally time to release a studio recording of DIE KRUPPS' frenetic version of the cult track.

All new songs were again produced by Jürgen Engler & Chris Lietz... for the music, Jürgen Engler joined forces with guitarist Marcel Zürcher, who has been in the band since its reunion in 2005... Another featured track is 'Beyond' which is a collaboration with Chile’s best Industrial Rock act VIGILANTE.

After 'Too Much History' now there is 'Als wären wir für immer' (engl.: ‘As if we were forever’)... it seems like there is no end in sight for DIE KRUPPS! The motto is as always: Full steam ahead!

Tracklisting:

1. Beyond
2. The Chameleon Man
3. Die Macht
4. Dr. Mabuse
5. Als wären wir für immer
6. Beyond / UNHEILIG Remix
7. The Chameleon Man / VIGILANTE Remix

MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO Announces U.S. Tour

Bringing their Multimedia Onslaught To The Masses

San Francisco, CA - Seminal electronic band MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO (MBM) is gearing up for their U.S. tour supporting the the release of Answers Come in Dreams via Metropolis Records (released October 12, 2010). Widely hailed for their groundbreaking live performances, MBM propels their electronic music into both a mesmerizing aural and visual dimension. "The live performance has become an integral component of my sound and production," sound sculptor and music innovator Jack Dangers explains. "The question is how to do it better than last time." Kicking off in Seattle, WA on February 2, 2011, Dangers and his live cohort Ben Stokes will travel across the country, bringing their mindblowing live performances that combine a sonic electronic assault with their stunning and often provocative and political video mash-ups to the masses. (tour dates below).

Minimal, textural and cinematic in scope, Answers Come in Dreams follows Dangers into more experimental territory. An artist who sees the very fluid connection between audio and visual, Jack created videos for each of the twelve tracks on the record which have been debuted on WIRED.com, URB.com, ElectronicMusician.com, PopMatters.com, among many others, hinting at what's in store for the live show.

Self described half-snarkily as "sub harmonic colonics... schadenfreude with extreme prejudice on those disbelievers of 7Hz," Answers Come in Dreams is just that - a mind-flushing reboot of the current state of music. From the downtempo soundscape of the opening track "Luminol" to the appropriately-titled submerged beats of "Waterphone," Answers Come in Dreams is a fascinating pastiche of sonic textures and electronic rhythms that fans of MBM's past work will find alluringly comfortable while new listeners will find alluringly intriguing.

MBM's consistent musical invention has led to all forms of electronic musical experimentation over its 23 year history, from jungle to techno to industrial to dubstep to jazz fusion. Its long string of influential futuristic classics includes such groundbreaking tracks as "God O.D.", "Strap Down", "Psyche Out", "Helter Skelter", "Radio Babylon", "Edge of No Control" to "It's The Music". The single, "Prime Audio Soup" (from the album Actual Sounds and Voices) was featured in the sci-fi fantasy blockbuster The Matrix and on its platinum-selling soundtrack.

An acknowledged and celebrated innovator in the electronic music scene (his remix of Tower of Power's "What Is Funk?" was nominated for a Grammy in 2006), Jack Dangers continues to stretch sonic boundaries and influence new generations of sound activists. As a premiere remixer, producer and sound designer, he has played a seminal role in defining tomorrows' music today. Past production/remixing projects include: Public Enemy, David Bowie, Orbital, Nine Inch Nails, David Byrne, Bush, Depeche Mode, and Tower of Power.

LAMB - New album!

NEWS FROM: LAMB c/o Strata Music Ltd

It's been over 6 years since our official split in 2004. Back then it felt like we might never make another Lamb record. There were many reasons for this; for one thing we both wanted to go away and pursue divergent solo projects.

A big part of our need for escape though was the experience of making music signed to a major label that tried to direct and package music that was never meant to be anything but creatively free. Lamb was always about innovation and pushing boundaries without constraint. Somewhere along the way our path had become a little too straight.

Earlier this year Andy and I were talking on the phone; just catching up and chewing the fat. Andy was saying how he missed so much of what Lamb had been about. I guess I was a little more reticent, busy touring my solo acoustic project, but when he said to me: "Lou, give me one good reason why we shouldn't make another Lamb album" I really couldn't think of one.

So after all this time we're back in the studio and there's something fresh and new about the music we're writing. It hasn't been this way since we wrote the eponymous first album when we felt utterly unconcerned with what anyone felt about what we were doing. It was about the music and the journey it took us on. We always said we wouldn't make another Lamb album until we had something new to say. That time has definitely come.

The album will be called 5. (After all it is our fifth despite the break). From the 5th of December you can be a part of the process too. You're receiving this email because you've registered your name and we'd like to give you the opportunity to be there first.

In the age-old tradition of art we're asking for your sponsorship so we don't have to sign our souls away to some major corporation. By pre-ordering '5' you will be helping to make it happen. In return you will receive a special limited edition release of the record with additional songs and exclusive artwork in a hardback book version - to retain the albums exclusivity we will only be manufacturing the exact number of pre-ordered albums! You will also receive regular blogs and updates on how the record's going and, when pre-ordering, you'll receive a special download version of one of the new songs "She Walks" fresh off the press. Of course, since you'll be supporting the making of the record, you'll also get a name credit in the artwork and if you're amongst the first 250 to order you'll get a super-limited edition, signed print that we think you'll love.

We've been on the LAMB mailing list, so we got to DOWNLOAD the new song "Strong The Root" and it is just as good as the first time we heard Lou's sweet voice or Andy's throbbing beats. Thank you LAMB!

THE KNIFE Release "Seeds" w/MT. SIMS & PLANNINGTOROCK

THE KNIFE, WITH MT.SIMS AND PLANNINGTOROCK RELEASE “SEEDS” REMIXED BY PORTABLE AKA BODYCODE AND SHINEDOE RELEASED EXCLUSIVELY THROUGH BEATPORT ON NOVEMBER 19th, FULL RELEASE DECEMBER 6th

The Knife, in collaboration with Mt.Sims and Planningtorock are set to release “Seeds”, with remixes by Portable aka Bodycode and Shinedoe, exclusively on November 19th through Beatport, with the full digital and limited edition 12” vinyl release coming December 6th.

Taken from the album Tomorrow, In A Year, “Seeds” is a delicate but driving techno pop track and features vocals by Swedish pop star Jonathan Johansson and Danish mezzo soprano Kristina Wahlin. Since the album’s release earlier this year, “Seeds” has already made waves in the dance world.

The remixers – Ghostly International’s Berlin-dwelling South African deep house producer Portable aka Bodycode, and the Dutch head of Intacto Records, Shinedoe - were selected by Olof Dreijer..."I just really like their music - a very nice mix of melodic and moving dance music. I've been spinning their music over the last few years and most often it brings a smile to people's faces and makes people dance a little more."

Bodycode has injected some Berlin deep-house warmth, stretching the track to 12 minutes, while Shinedoe has turned the original’s sparse instrumentation into a layered, big-room tech-house track.

Commissioned by Danish performance group Hotel Pro Forma Tomorrow, In A Year is a unique musical project, based on Charles Darwin and his book ‘On the Origin of the Species’. The compositions challenge the conventional conception of opera music.

The band recently put out a covers album, Adventures in Coverland, to great acclaim. The covers include distinct takes on Bowie, Joy Division, Buffalo Springfield and Patsy Cline among others. An acoustic version of their song “BB” and a new original Girl in a Coma song, “Yo Oigo,” commissioned by Robert Rodriguez for his film “Machete” are also included. The band displays their reverence for Selena’s music with their amped-up reworking of “Si Una Vez,” a stunning highlight of the record, and were honored to perform the song at the 2010 Tejano Music Awards.

You can also see Robert Rodriguez’ video for their cover of Bowie’s Labyrinth anthem “As the World Falls Down” here and a hot pin up inspired video directed by bassist Jenn Alva for their version of Patsy Cline’s “Walkin’ After Midnight” here.

Having previously toured with and been championed by Morrissey, Sia, The Pogues, Cyndi Lauper, and Tegan and Sara the band just wrapped up their Fall tour with some dates alongside The Dresden Dolls.

Röyksopp Announce North American Tour Dates

To follow fans’ excitement over the tranquil, yet beautifully haunting composition – Senior – the Norwegian electro super duo have announced a 2011 tour, starting in Toronto and Montreal, showcasing in New York, Washington DC and Atlanta, with more dates to be announced.
Röyksopp – Tour Dates:

March 18 – The Guvernment – Toronto
March 19 – Club Soda – Montreal
March 21 – Webster Hall – New York, NY
March 23 – 9:30 Club – Washington, DC
March 24 – Masquarade – Atlanta, GA

Röyksopp's duo of Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland bring an unparalleled creativity to their stagecraft, creating an electro-fantasy world amidst dry ice, theatrics, costume changes, and electronics. The eccentric outfits and the overall atmosphere add to the peculiar spectacle. On these dates, Svein and Tobjørn will be accompanied by vocalist Anneli Drecker, who's featured on previous Röyksopp tracks - 'Sparks' from Melody AM, and 'Vision One', 'You Don't Have a Clue' and 'True to Life' from Junior. In addition, guitarists Kato Adland and Ole Vegard Skauge will be joining them on stage. Audiences can expect to hear Röyksopp performing a collection of their greatest hits from their catalogue.

Röyksopp's newest release Senior (MB3 Records) is officially available online and in stores on November 23rd. This smash album, the follow-up and complement to Junior, is quickly making its way to musically-attuned ears across North America. As part of the tour announcement, the band has set up a limited-time pre-order / bundle offer with ticket orders... go to royksopp.com/events for more details on the shows and to buy tickets now.

RÖYKSOPP OFFER DUELING DANCEFLOOR DELIGHTS

Röyksopp need no introduction. Even if you don't recognize the name, you've likely heard and loved the music. Apple commercials? Those ubiquitous caveman ads? Video game after video game? Check, check, check. So it goes without saying that The MuseBox's relationship with the Scandinavian micro-madness duo is pretty much at "blind-faith" status now. Which makes the deftly delightful Senior all the more gratifying for being such a knockout.

With the international smash of 2009's Junior still on their hands, Svein Berge and Tobjørn Brundtland opted to cool things off considerably with the follow up. The all-instrumental answer was recorded during the same sessions as Junior, and sounds like the last record's submissive, somnambulant twin. At nine tracks, Senior is an ambient wash of haze and texture, but undeniably crafted by the radio-ready hands of Röyksopp.

Berge and Brundtland explain: "The two albums (Junior and Senior) have a kinship, in that they represent Röyksopp's two very different artistic expressions. Junior - with emphasis on vocals, accessible melodies and harmonies - has the energy, the inquisitive temper and confident "hey-ho, let's go!" attitude of youth, whereas Senior is the introverted, dwelling and sometimes graceful counterpart - brimful with dark secrets and distorted memories, insisting, "I'm old, I've got experience...” Senior is furthermore an album about age, horses and being subdued - with devils breathing down your neck."

With the digital release out this week (October 26th), with a physical bow slated for November 23rd, the record is still building buzz off of the interstellar slowdown soundtrack, "The Drug."

SCISSOR SISTERS

TO JOIN LADY GAGA ON ADDITIONAL 2011 MONSTER BALL TOUR DATES
Band Announces Series Of Headlining Tour Shows

Scissor Sisters will join Lady Gaga on seven additional dates on the early 2011 run of her Monster Ball World Tour. The band will open on a total of 24 dates, beginning with the February 19th show at Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ and including shows at New York City's Madison Square Garden Arena (February 21st & 22nd), Los Angeles' Staples Center (March 28th) and Honda Center in Anaheim (March 31st). While on the road with Lady Gaga, Scissor Sisters will also play a series of headlining dates. See below for a complete itinerary.

The band's recent North American headlining jaunt elicited stellar reviews. "The smiles, showmanship, disco-era revivalism and finely calibrated ironies are the essence of Scissor Sisters, a New York City band that keeps people dancing to its in-jokes," said The New York Times' Jon Pareles, reviewing one of two sold-out shows at New York City's Terminal 5. "Exuberant, booty-shaking stuff all the way...Under the gurgling, hedonistic dance-rock pulse, there are some arch observations, cautionary tales on living the nightlife. But that doesn't get in the way of living that life for a night," observed the Boston Herald. The New York Post praised the band's "powerhouse set," while The Huffington Post marveled: "For the next 100 minutes, we were treated to a nonstop sensual assault."

Night Work, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums Chart and inside the Top 20 of The Billboard 200, is Scissor Sisters' highest charting album to date. The New York Times hailed it as "dirty fun" and Entertainment Weekly awarded it an A-. "Three albums in, the Sisters are as gleefully hedonistic as ever," said Rolling Stone while Q gave Night Work four stars in a two-page lead review, noting: "they translate anxiety into dancefloor electricity."

The album follows Ta-Dah, which bowed at No. 1 on the UK album chart in 2006, and the band's self-titled 2004 debut, which earned Scissor Sisters three BRIT awards. Scissor Sisters - comprising Jake Shears (vocals), Ana Matronic (vocals), Babydaddy (guitar/bass/keyboards) and Del Marquis (guitar) - have sold over seven million albums worldwide.

BEASTIE BOYS HOT SAUCE COMMITTEE PART 2 TRACK LISTING REVISED, REPLACED ENTIRELY WITH SONGS ORIGINALLY RECORDED FOR HOT SAUCE COMMITTEE PART 1

In what can only be described as a bizarre coincidence, following an exhaustive re-sequence marathon, Beastie Boys have verified that their new Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 will be comprised of the same 16 tracks originally slated for inclusion on Hot Sauce Committee Part 1.

The record (part 2 that is) will be released as planned in spring 2011 on Capitol.

The tracks originally recorded for Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 (which now are actually back on Part 1) have now apparently been bumped to make room for the former Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 material. Wait, what?

“I know it's weird and confusing, but at least we can say unequivocally that Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 is coming out on time, which is more than I can say about Part 1, and really is all that matters in the end.” says Adam “MCA” Yauch. “We just kept working and working on various sequences for part 2, and after a year and half of spending days on end in the sequencing room trying out every possible combination, it finally became clear that this was the only way to make it work. Strange but true, the final sequence for Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 works best with all its songs replaced by the 16 tracks we originally had lined up in pretty much the same order we had them in for Hot Sauce Committee Part 1. So we've come full circle."

Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 marks Yauch, Mike "Mike D" Diamond, and Adam "Ad Rock" Horovitz’s first full length effort since 2007's Grammy winning all-instrumental The Mix-Up. The new track listing of the album is now as follows:

1. Tadlock's Glasses
2. B-Boys In The Cut
3. Make Some Noise
4. Nonstop Disco Powerpack
5. OK
6. Too Many Rappers (featuring NAS)
7. Say It
8. The Bill Harper Collection
9. Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win (featuring Santigold)
10. Long Burn The Fire
11. Funky Donkey
12. Lee Majors Come Again
13. Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament
14. Pop Your Balloon
15. Crazy Ass Shit
16. Here's A Little Something For Ya

Recently nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, Beastie Boys are the single longest lived hip-hop act to continue to enjoy commercial and critical success. Formed in 1981, Beastie Boys first changed the course of popular music when their 1986 debut album Licensed To Ill became the first hip hop record to reach #1. Since then, Diamond, Horovitz and Yauch have amassed 40 million in record sales of a critically acclaimed canon including 1989's landmark Paul's Boutique, 1992’s Check Your Head, the #1-debuting trifecta of 1994’s Ill Communication, 1998’s Hello Nasty and 2004’s To The 5 Boroughs, and 2007’s The Mix-Up. Beastie Boys’ innovative videos earned them MTV’s Video Vanguard Lifetime Achievement award in 1998, while a Madison Square Garden show shot by 50 audience members was painstakingly edited into AWESOME; I F----N' SHOT THAT!, which debuted at Sundance in 2006. The band has also been lauded for its humanitarian efforts, ranging from organizing the Tibetan Freedom Concert series which drew attention to the Chinese government's human rights violations in Tibet, to the New Yorkers Against Violence benefits, whose proceeds went to organizations chosen for their efforts on behalf of September 11th victims least likely to receive help elsewhere.

The exact release date of Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 and touring plans will be announced once details are available

NITZER EBB

Call it what you want – Hard Beat, EBM (Electronic Body Music), Industrial Dance. Nitzer Ebb reign supreme over the genre regardless of the name.

And with nearly fifteen years between releases, the elder statesmen have had some time to reflect on their position. With this month’s release of the cleverly- titled Industrial Complex, Nitzer Ebb signaled loud and clear that their inventive co-mingling of Throbbing Gristle's alchemic pound, DAF's synthpunk oomph and Kraftwerk’s futureshock electronics is every bit as vital as it was when the group skyrocketed into the British music stratosphere in the 80s. Industrial Complex – aside from being a decidedly enjoyable slab of beats, chants and unbridled energy – offers context to the meteoric ascension and the fruitful, chameleonic career of Douglas McCarthy and Vaughn Harris. Taking cues from the group’s gritty early days, along with the streamlined New York dance club years, and the fully-fleshed, highly-orchestrated Flood era, the album has something for every Nitzer Ebb fan, and serves as a masterful primer for the uninitiated.

Building off of the massive tour in late 2009 and early 2010, Nitzer Ebb are making choice stops in major American cities throughout November. Reuniting with Big Hit era drummer Jason Payne, McCarthy and Harris will be delivering live staples from Complex and beyond. Miss it at your own risk.

OMG! New OMD!

OMD To Release First New Album In 14 Years
History Of Modern Out 9/28/10 On Bright Antenna/ILG

Pre-Order Bundles Available At OMD’s Own Webstore WWW.OMD.HASAWEBSTORE.COM

OMD (aka Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark) return with their first new album in 14 years. History of Modern will be released September 28th in the US via Bright Antenna Records through Warner Music Group’s Independent Label Group. The US version of History of Modern contains the US only exclusive track, “Save Me,” which features Aretha Franklin and is the album’s first single. Spin.com has an exclusive interview with OMD’s Andy McCluskey along with the premiere of the new song “New Babies: New Toys.” Check it out HERE. Daily Motion just premiered the video for the first UK single, “If You Want It,” which is can be seen HERE.

Fans have the opportunity to pre-order History of Modern at OMD’s own webstore – WWW.OMD.HASAWEBSTORE.COM. They can choose between a limited edition box set and bundles including autographed vinyl, CD’s and exclusive t-shirt designs. All pre-orders come with an instant digital download of the single, “Save Me.”

One of the reasons OMD have called their brand new album – their eleventh – History of Modern is because they are acutely aware of what it is they’re doing with this release. On paper, this is the UK synth-pop pioneers’ first new material since 1996, but in spirit, History of Modern has more in common with the group’s early ’80s heyday, when Enola Gay and Souvenir, penned by two teenage Krautrock fans from the Wirral, lit up the charts and set the agenda for a bold new movement in British electronic music.

In tandem with the Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys, OMD’s tuneful blend of cutting-edge synthwork, cool minimalism and soulful pop – honed to perfection on the albums Architecture & Morality, Dazzle Ships and Organisation– defined the decade, sold millions of records, and turned childhood pals Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys into stars.

“We were trying to be modern,” says Andy, pointing out that, in 1980, OMD were one of the first acts to use a sampler. “After architecture, art and design, popular music was the last of the great modernist movements, and we were genuinely trying to do something new. Quite how we thought we were going to change the world with three-and-a-half-minute pop songs, I don’t know, but we thought we could.”

Fast forward 30 years to the reunited OMD of 2010 and it’s clear that that sense of mischief and youthful idealism still fuels the group. “I suppose the nice thing is that, just like in the early days, we made this record simply because we fancied making a record,” says Andy. “There was no pressure to make a record in order to sell records and sustain a career. It was like making a first album again.”

In these electro-friendly times, OMD’s influence has become ubiquitous. The XX, Brandon Flowers of The Killers, and LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy have cited OMD as an inspiration, while the likes of La Roux, Cold Cave and The Horrors show traces of OMD’s DNA. Andy notes that today OMD is perceived to have its place in the “pantheon of relevant popular music history”, something which seemed unthinkable during the Britpop era, when ’60s revivalism finished off the last incarnation of OMD, a solo venture by Andy (Paul had left in 1989).

Fortunately, by anyone’s standards, History of Modern is an excellent album, one that fizzes with energy and captures the group’s newfound enthusiasm. Then again, between them, Andy and Paul have some 60 years of songwriting and music-making experience, so they do know their way around a hit. Propelled by synth riffs, ‘New Babies: New Toys’ and the two ‘History of Modern’ tracks are very much a return to form, while ‘RFWK’ doffs its cap to Kraftwerk, and ‘The Future, the Past, and Forever After’ has shades of OMD’s northwest contemporaries, New Order. Elsewhere, ‘Sister Marie Says’ echoes ‘Joan of Arc’ and ‘Maid of Orleans’.

Upbeat and bristling with ideas, ‘History of Modern’ was mixed by Arctic Monkeys/Foals engineer Mike Crossey, and offers a slightly rawer kind of pleasure to the serene melancholy of OMD’s early-’80s moments. In a nice touch, the record’s sleeve was designed by Peter Saville, who was responsible for the iconic artwork of those first OMD albums. Saville was the in-house designer at Factory Records, the label that released OMD’s debut single, ‘Electricity’, in 1979. For many, ‘History of Modern’ will be their first experience of OMD, and one hopes their curiosity will lead them, via YouTube and Spotify, to ‘Organisation’, ‘Architecture and Morality’ and ‘Dazzle Ships’ – key works in the Synth Britannia canon.

The music industry OMD have returned to in 2010 is in a very different state to the one that helped them sell millions of records 20-odd years ago. But their attitude hasn’t changed. “Back then, we weren’t following anybody’s rules but our own,” Andy says. “Today, if you’re considered credible and you still have a relevance, then you’re allowed back on your pedestal. That’s what we’ve discovered to our great delight.

“And this record,” he adds, “is just another part of the jigsaw of us reclaiming our place in the broader picture.”

Legendary Pink Dots New Album & Tour

New Album "Seconds Late For The Brighton Line"
will be released October 5 on CD, Digital & Double LP.
North American live dates start October 15.

Unlike most acts of their vintage the Legendary Pink Dots look forward. After more than 30 years they continue to make compelling new music that is demanded by their dedicated fan base and maintains the high level of quality that set their careers in motion.

Led by singer / songwriter Edward Ka-Spel and keyboardist / songwriter Phil "The Silverman" Knight, LPD continues to create their singular brand of modern psychedelia. Ka-Spel is well known for his intimate and dark tales delivered with the whimsy & acid drenched tone of Pink Floyd era Syd Barrett. The Sliverman and a changing cast of players provide a rich sonic backdrop that touches on classic psychedlia, electronica, industrial, goth, psych-folk, post-punk and experimental sounds. Over nearly 40 albums the band has created a sprawling and important body of work that rivals the greatest in underground music.

Their new album "Seconds Late For The Brighton Line" finds the band in familiar territory; pulsing Kraut-rock, dark and sinister pop, epic post-industrial soundscapes. Edward Ka-Spel's lyrics breathe with a sagacity and cleverness found in rock's greatest writers. With the departure of long-time members Neils Van Hoorn & Martjn the band operates as a foursome with added guest players. Standout cuts include: the driving "Russian Roulette" which proves the band still can generate the dark power and tension that help build their world-wide following and the introspective and spare "Hauptbanhnhof 20:10" for which there is a beautiful music video. The core members plus added guest players will tour North America this Fall.

The Dresden Dolls

Kick Off Fall US Tour With Special 10th Anniversary Halloween Show in NYC!

Tickets On Sale Today (9/9) Starting at Noon EST at www.dresdendolls.com

After a long hiatus, The Dresden Dolls are thrilled to announce their first live tour in 3 years! The pioneering and influential "punk cabaret" duo comprised of Amanda Palmer (piano, vocals) and Brian Viglione (drums, guitar, bass) will be kicking off a few weeks of dates starting on Halloween at Irving Plaza in NYC. The date marks the exact 10th anniversary of the birth of the band (Viglione met Palmer on Halloween night of 2000, at an art/salon party at Palmer's house, at which she was playing her solo songs on piano.) "Amanda's songwriting was so brilliant and raw, I couldn't have designed a more perfectly suited counterpart. I knew then I'd found my musical accomplice.", says Viglione. They will also make a stop in New Orleans for a special gulf oil spill relief-benefit for BTNEP, an organization that is working to preserve, protect, and restore the Barataria and Terrebonne estuaries of Louisiana.

Since The Dolls' last performance (which was at Rock The Vote in DC on the Inauguration Day of President Obama), Palmer has been tirelessly busy building her solo career and online empire, centered around the 2008 release of her Ben Folds-Produced solo album "Who Killed Amanda Palmer". The album was accompanied by a hardback-book of the same name and included a collection of dead photographs of Palmer and short stores by author Neil Gaiman (to whom Palmer recently became engaged). Palmer also recently released a donation-based Radiohead covers ukulele EP titled "Amanda Palmer Performs the Popular Hits of Radiohead on Her Magical Ukulele", setting the tech community abuzz about how a donation-based model can earn a mid-level artist a living wage. Before they embark on tour, Palmer will be starring as the Emcee in the American Repertory Theater’s production of Kander & Ebb's dark weimar musical "Cabaret". The production opened August 31, 2010 and runs through October 29. Many of the dates are already sold out. More information can be found HERE on A.R.T.'s site.

"The time apart has done nothing but given both of us an appreciation of how incredibly special and powerful our band is," says Palmer. "Our live musical chemistry is completely unique, almost magical, and we don't take that for granted. I can't wait to get on a stage with Brian again. Nobody hits the drums like that man - he's in a class all his own. And when we play together live, we create an entire world we can't otherwise create."

Meanwhile, drummer/producer and talented musical jack-of-all-trades Brian Viglione has appeared on 30 albums since 2008, most notably, Nine Inch Nails' "Ghosts I–IV". Viglione's latest hard-hitting album, "Face Of The Sun", which he produced and co-wrote, is available digitally via Bandcamp and will be featured on his new website , www.brianviglione.com. Amidst the busy recording and teaching schedule, he's toured internationally with The World/Inferno Friendship Society, Franz Nicolay, Black Tape For A Blue Girl, Martin Bisi, Botanica, and The Cliks. "A great strength of the band has always been that we've always given each other time to explore creative areas outside The Dresden Dolls, then bring what we've learned back to the table. Our love for the music and playing together is mirrored by the continual support of our fans, and we're more than ready to deliver the goods to them. "

The current wave of theatrical artists are citing The Dolls and their flamboyant emotional and theatrical antics as an inspiration, from up-and-coming theatrical-pop artist and Dolls’ fan Marina & The Diamonds to Lady Gaga (who lists The Dresden Dolls as an influence on her MySpace).

"It's been really inspiring to see an evolution towards theatrical freedom among indie bands over the last ten years", says Palmer. "When we were starting out in 2000, we were surrounded by the likes of The Vines and The Strokes. People often wrote us off as a gimmick because of our weird theatrical bent. Now we're surrounded by comrades...Antony, The Scissor Sisters, The Decembrists, Arcade Fire, CocoRosie, the list goes on and on. People aren't as afraid take risks onstage. It's inspiring, and I'm proud we've played our little part in the continuum of empowered freaky people."

Dates Are As Follows:

Oct 31 - NEW YORK CITY, NY@ Irving Plaza (w/ Surprise Guests)

WE ARE THE UNION SUFFERS WEEKEND ACCIDENT

Tragedy Strikes Fellow Motorist WATU's van after the accident

Detroit, MI – Over Labor Day weekend while many Americans were enjoying the pool and barbecues, Detroit’s WE ARE THE UNION were driving across Canada on their North American tour supporting Strung Out and Rufio. On Saturday at around 5:30AM CST on Highway 16, near Langham, Saskatchewan, We Are The Union was on the way to the next stop of the tour when the band hit a moose on the highway. Not only wrecking their van and trailer, the moose was knocked into an adjacent lane, where moments later a passenger vehicle struck the carcass and crashed, ejecting both occupants from the car. One passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by Canada’s CBC News (http://tinyurl.com/watu-crash).

We Are The Union vocalist/guitarist Reed Wolcott recounted the incident on Punknews.org over the weekend:

“Well, right after the wreck, the moose was in the right lane and we were in the shoulder. We sat there for one or two minutes in disbelief, then after seeing two cars and a semi hit the carcass and almost wipe-out, Matt [Belanger, trombone] grabbed a flashlight and started signaling cars to get over into the left lane. We managed to get everyone to move over and slow down until the pickup came along. Matt tried to signal it with a flashlight to get over and slow down, but they must have been going 20 over [the speed limit]. They hit it and spun 180 degrees, slid across both lanes, hit the grass median and started rolling. Some of the other guys saw two bodies fly from the truck. A bunch of us ran over to see if they could help, I grabbed a flashlight and spent the next 20 minutes trying to convince myself that the screams I was hearing from the wreck weren't coming from a person, signaling cars to get in the right lane until the police showed up to block the freeway.

We appreciate everyone helping us out with donations to get us back on our feet and the sympathy, but the only tragedy here is the two people who lost a family member this morning. We're all okay, trying to figure out a way to continue the tour. Don't worry about us. Worry about them."

With the help of family, friends and fans, We Are The Union is determined to stay on the road and finish out the tour. Donations can be made via PayPal to the email address watubooking@gmail.com.

THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE Debut "In the Dark" Video from PINS AND NEEDLES Due Out September 14th

Playing a Handful of US Dates, Fall Tour to be Announced Video still from "In the Dark"

Undoubtedly one of the most visually stunning and musically exciting bands to grace the scene in a long time, THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE have unleashed the video for the first single "In The Dark" from their upcoming album Pins And Needles (release date: September 14, 2010 via Metropolis Records). Independently produced, directed, filmed and everything else needed to bring their unique, singular vision to the screen by the band, members of Rue Morgue, and their friends, the epically arresting video premiered at Rue Morgue's Festival of Fear that took place last weekend in Toronto. The video has just been released to the public and can be viewed here: http://tinyurl.com/tbm-dark. "I LOVE this song. I love it, I love it, I love it," says vocalist Chibi of the song. "The chorus gets inside my head and plays over and over. I love some of the bitterness of the lyrics here, but to such a pretty melody. To me this song is about how fragile we all are, and how callous some people can be, about how even if you’re with someone and technically you aren’t alone – that can still be one of the loneliest places."

After their recent and well-received tour with Otep, The Birthday Massacre are on a quick trek through the East Coast in advance of the album. A full-scale national headlining tour will be announced shortly. The confirmed tour dates are:

Sep 08 Webster Underground Hartford, CT
Sep 09 The Palladium Worcester, MA
Sep 10 Highline Ballroom New York, NY
Sep 11 Club Polaris Philadelphia, PA
Sep 13 The Rock and Roll Hotel Washington, DC
Sep 14 Mr. Smalls Millvale, PA
Sep 16 The Mod Club Theatre Toronto, ON

On the new album Pins And Needles, The Birthday Massacre further refine their captivating hybrid of 80's electronica and aggressive guitars, curiously fused with cinematically dark melodic progressions, explored on the band's highly acclaimed previous albums: Walking With Strangers, Violet, and the classic debut Nothing and Nowhere. ABORT Magazine praises: "Counting the minutes and seconds till you heart will be pierced with pins and needles to the sound of The Birthday Massacre’s new album. Chibi and Co. are easily and masterfully doing something that modern synth-rock simply seems to be incapable of: making music that can’t be confused with anything else. Literally, moments into the first song you already know how good this album will be for the next hour... You might want to draw up a will, just in case you die of pleasure." Revenant Media applauds: "The Birthday Massacre have crafted an astonishing release... [Pins and Needles is] an album that will be hard to top and one that many will try to imitate."

Mixed by David Ogilvie (producer of Skinny Puppy, Marilyn Manson, Killing Joke), Pins and Needles promises to be a harder and darker experience than all previous albums, contrasted by Chibi's shining melodic vocals. Pins and Needles will be released on September 14, 2010 on Metropolis Records.

FEVER RAY RELEASES “MERCY STREET” TODAY

STUDIO VERSION OF THE LIVE FAVORITE PETER GABRIEL COVER

September 7, 2010 – New York, NY –Fever Ray aka Karin Dreijer Andersson of The Knife is back. Having performed spellbinding live covers of well-loved tracks by artists as varied as Nick Cave, Vashti Bunyan and Peter Gabriel, her cover of the latter's “Mercy Street” is officially released today as a digital download and on covetable limited edition 7’’ through Mute in the US and Canada. The 7” single will include album track “Dry and Dusty”.

Gabriel wrote ‘Mercy Street’ about influential Pulitzer Prize winning American poet Anne Sexton, with the track taking its title from her 1969 play of the same name. The cover is chillingly atmospheric, all driving beats and Dreijer Andersson’s crystalline vocals imploring us to “wait until darkness comes”. In Karin’s own words:

"It's an interpretation of Peter Gabriel's 'Mercy Street'. We made it more intense and faster to fit our eccentric percussionists and energetic live musicians. It is a monotone track but we worked with the dynamics trying to make it sparkle. I listened to it a lot when I was around 15, and it still moves me. It made me start reading Anne Sexton too."

A limited 24 hour free download of the track propelled Fever Ray into Hype Machine’s worldwide ‘Most Blogged’ chart.

For those who have yet to experience the 'Mercy Street' cover live, you can catch Fever Ray's stunning audio-visual show in Europe – art directed by long term collaborator Andreas Nilsson – on the following dates:

September:

6th - O2 ABC, Glasgow
8th - Brixton Academy, London

Sound Into Blood Into Wine, a twelve-song collection of Puscifer (Maynard James Keenan) tracks which accompany the critically-acclaimed documentary Blood Into Wine, has been completed and is available today, Sept. 7.

Fans that experienced the live incarnation of Puscifer earlier this year will be familiar with some of the countrified versions of songs that appeared in their original incarnations on Puscifer’s debut album (V is for V****a) and C is For… EP. This is the first time these alternate versions have been made available.

2. Momma Sed Vis4V mix
3. Queen B Vis4V mix
4. The Undertaker Vis4V mix
5. Drunk with Power Vis4V mix
6. Rev 22:20 Dry Martini mix
7. Indigo Children Vis4V mix

10. World Up My Ass 7 inch mix

Blood Into Wine arrives on DVD today Sept. 7 as well. The award-winning documentary focuses on Keenan and vineyard partner Eric Glomski’s struggle to create a high-quality wine region in the harsh terrain of Northern Arizona. Filmcritic.com dubbed the film a “rock ‘n roll version of Sideways,” the Wall Street Journal said “as Blood into Wine makes clear… Keenan isn't a musical celebrity who lent his name to a product. He gets down into the soil to plant and destem vines and pick grapes. He's learned oenology with painstaking deliberation” and the Village Voice said the film is “one of the most intriguing documentaries we’ve seen in a while.” The film co-stars Milla Jovovich, Patton Oswalt, Bob Odenkirk, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim.

Ursula 1000 to release “Fuzz EP” on Thievery Corporation’s ESL Music Featuring the track “Hey You!” with Fred Schneider

New York’s Ursula 1000 sets his time machine towards primitive garage punk for his new E.P., “FUZZ!”

Drenched in snarling fuzz guitars, savage drums and spooky organs, this new collection of tracks unleashes his technicolor take on this sound. A pinch of the old and a drop of the new, creating a brand new monster! Inspired by the classics like Count Five, The Sonics and the Nuggets and Back To The Grave collections to revivalists like The Gruesomes, Gravedigger V and The Dukes of Stratosphear, Ursula 1000 takes in this obsession and flips it for a new generation.

“FUZZ” features the inimitable Fred Schneider from The B-52s on the opening song, “Hey You!” Fred and his band paved the way of mixing b-movie surf trashiness and new

wave as does Ursula with his blending vintage grooves with modern electronica, thus making the pairing a no-brainer. This is not pastiche but a re-invention!

Ursula 1000 is the alter ego of Brooklyn, New York based producer/DJ Alex Gimeno. His albums (four artists albums and two DJ mixed CDs) and live/radio mix sessions have taken on a broad scope of retro tinged spy grooves, bumping latin disco funk, hints of post punk, electro, go go and sleazy glam rock. You can hear it in his remixes for the likes of Quincy Jones, Felix Da Housecat, The Faint, Fort Knox Five to a slew of television remodels for themes to Sesame Street, The Powerpuff Girls, The Incredibles and Yo Gabba Gabba. Scenes for Sex And The City, Grey’s Anatomy and How I Met Your Mother popped even more with a helping of a little Ursula as have campaigns for AT&T, Samsung, Adidas and Grand Marnier.

You can find him traveling the world dj-ing at places like Fabric, The Big Chill Festival, Shambhala or even at his home residencies at Trophy Bar and The Commodore. For a more obscure selection of songs that make him tick, check out his radio show, Guilty Pleasures on www.BrooklynRadio.com
