SKOLD vs. KMFDM

Featured on NCIS Soundtrack And Episode

Tim Skold and Sascha Konietzko collaborated Transatlanticly to bring industrial, metal and goth fans worldwide a new album titled SKOLD vs. KMFDM. The album¹s international release date is April 7, 2009.

The SKOLD vs. KMFDM track Love Is Like will debuted on NCIS Feb 18th. The eponymously titled new full-length album, out via KMFDM Records together with The Bicycle Music Company, streets internationally on April 7, 2009. NCIS: The Official TV Soundtrack was released on Tuesday, February 10th.

The Bicycle Music Company handled the SKOLD vs. KMFDM placement on the CBS Records produced soundtrack for the hit television series NCIS. The two-disc set also features brand new tracks by artists such as Oasis, Ministry, Seether and Perry Farrell. The Skold vs. KMFDM track titled, Love Is Like, was specially produced for this compilation. The song is included on the second CD titled Abby's Lab Disc named for a forensic scientist character on the show noted for her alternative appearance and taste in music. The recording is an exclusive version of the song, and differs from the one which will appear on the SKOLD vs. KMFDM record,

Love Is Like is prominently integrated into tonight¹s episode titled Bounce. In the episode Gibbs and DiNozzo reverse roles after a murder leads to one of Tony's old investigations being re-opened. The episode was directed by Arvin Brown and written by David J. North and Steven D. Binder. In its sixth season, NCIS is currently the #1 show on television. More than 18 million viewers watch each weekly episode in the U.S. alone and the show airs in more than 190 countries worldwide.

Tim Skold is a Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist, writer and producer that has played with Shotgun Messiah, Skold (his self-titled solo-project), KMFDM, MDFMK and Marilyn Manson (where his credits, besides songwriting include bass, guitar, drum and synthesizer programming on the albums The Golden Age of Grotesque, Eat Me Drink Me and Lest We Forget).

Sascha Konietzko, the mastermind and frontman of KMFDM, is a vocalist, synthesist and bassist as well as a composer, audio-engineer and producer. His production credits include KMFDM, Treponem Pal and Sister Machine Gun. Konietzko¹s remix credits include Metallica, White Zombie, Rammstein, Combichrist, Mindless Self Indulgence, Kittie, Love & Rockets, Megadeth and Flotsam Jetsam.

The SKOLD vs. KMFDM collaborative album was conceived in June 2008 and completed by early October. Notably the entire album was recorded without the two artists ever being on the same continent, much less in the same room. Konietzko explains: We constantly bounced stuff back and forth over the [FTP] server, and with a time-difference of nine hours between us, it turned out that one of us slept while the other one worked and vice-versa,and thus we got two full days of work done in just 24 hours. Before they began exchanging files, Konietzko and Skold agreed to some ground rules for the album, which included a no-guitars proviso and a no real drum kits stipulation. Skold elaborates This is a very electronic album but the majority of the instruments used are actually analog and many of them are not even electric. What we decided to intentionally avoid this time was the traditional electric guitar. This was done to confuse and bewilder our fans. We like to keep them on their toes and many of them appreciate the challenge.

SKOLD vs. KMFDM is Tim Skold on vocals, programming, live percussion, synth bass and Sascha Konietzko on vocals, programming, analogue synthesizers and sequencers and bass. The twenty-two tracks on the self-titled album, SKOLD vs. KMFDM, are 1. Why Me (4:29), 2. Bloodsport Interlude (1:07), 3. Antigeist (5:13), 4. Alkohol Interlude (0:52), 5. Bloodsport (5:06), 6. Error 404 Interlude (1:58), 7. Love Is Like (4:07), 8. Antigeist Interlude (1:07), 9. It's Not What (4:14), 10. Love Is Like Interlude (1:01), 11. A Common Enemy (4:59), 12. Porn, Kitsch And Firearms Interlude (1:40), 13. Error 404 (3:36), 14. All Or Nothing Interlude (0:57), 15. Porn, Kitsch And Firearms (4:36), 16. It's Not What Interlude (1:22), 17. Gromky (5:17), 18. FISCHERSPOONER RETURN WITH FULL LENGTH ALBUM THIS SPRING!

ENTERTAINMENT TO COME FOUR YEARS AFTER THEIR LAST ACCLAIMED SOPHOMORE ALBUM ON MAY 5th

Fischerspooner, the art pop performance project created and helmed by Warren Fischer and Casey Spooner, is back with their third album Entertainment. Recorded over a two-year period with producer Jeff Saltzman (The Killers, Sounds) and featuring Ann Magnuson (Bongwater), Gabriel Olegavich (Lady Sovereign, Spektrum) and Steven Stein (Double Dee & Steinski), the album marks another huge step forward by the group.

Started as a collaboration at The School of the Art Institute Chicago, Fisherspooner evolved from TV pilot to art world sensation to international pop stars in the short span of a few years. Equally informed by Spooner's love of pop confection and experimental theatre as by Fischer's classical training and background in the seminal math-rock band Table, the band exploded into the new millennium, paving the way for electronic dance artists like Justice, MSTRKRFT, and Simian Mobile Disco. Their single Emerge from their debut album #1 broke the UK Top 40 while follow up Odyssey found them collaborating with everyone from Linda Perry to David Byrne to Susan Sontag to Mirwais.

Discovering the hard way that the art and music world do not co-exist, along with the disintegration of their label Capitol, Casey and Warren found their way back to their original ethos. This album will be released on FS Studios, their own label where they had originally released the first Fischerspooner record. With a live show focusing on dance, dialogue, and video over a year in the works, Entertainment is another chapter in the evolving experimental pop synthesis that is Fischerspooner.

KMFDM Gear Up For a BLITZ!

Releasing 17th Full-Length Album on March 24

With 16 full-lengths and 25 years of historic, groundbreaking musical mayhem behind them, the legendary industrial pioneers KMFDM are ready to unleash the next album BLITZ on March 24, 2009 on Metropolis Records. Fronted by the volatile and fiercely intelligent Sascha Konietzko, KMFDM has led the industrial revolution over the last two and a half decades with their self-coined "Ultra Heavy Beat" that continues to expand and evolve, ushering new beats and structures that push their music up into new plateaus. "I like to experiment," says Sascha about the new album. "Going in one direction and then trying something different is part of the way. If I don't change things constantly, I become irritated."

Appropriately abrasive and incredibly rhythm-heavy, BLITZ sees the Hamburg, Germany-based band redirecting the metallic guitars of previous releases and allowing the fiery dance rhythms to breathe and pulsate. From the opening beat of "(Symbol)" with Sascha's trademark growl coming into the forefront with chants of "up Uranus", the album kicks off an unrelenting barrage of heavily orchestrated chaos. "Bait & Switch" ups the ante with a blast of fierce, driving industrial led by the the dominating vocals of Lucia Cifarelli. Their excellent retelling of Human League's "Being Boiled" brings a level of sinister ambience with pounding beats and flourishing horns. "I am standing behind every song, 105%," Sascha explains, "though I am particularly pleased with the fact that native Russian speakers can understand what I am saying on track #3, 'Davai'."

BLITZ was produced by Sascha Konietzko with assistance from current guitarist Jules Hodgson and longtime collaborator and former band member Tim Skold. Although the album title may be returning to the trademark five-letter album titles of yore ("There was no thought wasted on the name of this album. However once decided upon, it seemed a fitting return to convention, especially after having had a string of non-five-letter titles for the past several years"), the album is by no means conventional. With a diverse 25 years behind them, Sascha sees no end to KMFDM's continuing legacy. "There's no looking back," he says firmly. "The future lies ahead."

Throbbing Gristle – Chris Carter, Peter Christopherson, Genesis Breyer-P.Orridge and Cosey Fanni Tutti – formed in 1975 and released a string of albums until 1981 including The Second Annual Report, 20 Jazz Funk Greats and the legendary 24 Hours Cassette Boxed Set (reissued as TG24 on CD by the Grey Area of Mute in 2002 and followed by the companion box set TG+ in 2004). Unlike many of their punk peers, Throbbing Gristle deployed their music as a weapon attacking the apparatus of the music industry, which they treated as the propaganda wing of the then growing entertainment industry. TG set up their own imprint, Industrial Records (giving rise to the term "industrial music"), for the distribution of their clanging factory noises and as a cold parody of the entertainment industry's process of industrializing music.

In 2007 Throbbing Gristle released their first new studio album in over 25 years, Part Two - The Endless Not which was followed later that year by TGV, a live DVD box set featuring 10 full shows - most never-before-seen - ranging from the fascinating beginnings in 1979 through to the notorious RE~TG ‘re-grouping’ 23 years later at London’s Astoria and three further European shows.

2008 saw the reactivation of Industrial Records and the release of Thirty-Second Annual Report, a reinterpretation of The Second Annual Report recorded at La Villette in Paris, 30 years after its original release and available on download and as a special edition vinyl, pre-framed and limited to 777 copies.

Throbbing Gristle have troubled eardrums, shattered preconceptions and changed lives. The repercussions of their sonic, ideological and industrial experiments are still being felt today.

LANGERADO 2009 CANCELLED

Today, the 2009 Langerado Music Festival is cancelled due to sluggish ticket sales. The 7th annual event was slated to happen March 6-8 at their new home in downtown Miami's Bicentennial Park.

Langerado's independent local promoters, faced with a very tough decision in a dismal economy, cancelled the 2009 event only after every possible option was exhausted.

As Langerado Co-Promoter Ethan Schwartz explains, "Langerado has always put the fan experience first. Unfortunately, during these difficult economic times, and facing a first year in a new venue, it's become apparent that we cannot execute a production that lives up to the high standards of our past events. Putting Langerado on hold was the toughest decision we have ever had to make. We are very grateful for the support of the greater-Miami community and the music community during this difficult time."

All tickets purchased will be refunded. Please look for ticket refunds to be processed in the next 5-7 business days. Each order will be refunded to the credit card in full, minus the included order processing fees. Shipping fees will also be credited for those orders that did not select the free shipping promotion. Visit www.musictoday.com for more information.

The Black Lips Get Kicked Out Of India

Like the Sex Pistols' January '78 tour of the Deep South, The Black Lips recent expedition to India was marked by a series of fairly seismic culture shocks. Everything from bottle-throwing fans at a gig in Pune, to livid show promoters in Chennai, all in response to a bunch of full-frontal punk rock provocateurs from Atlanta. For those that still haven't heard the story, the band was booked to play on India's equivalent of American Idol, The "Campus Rock Idol" Tour, a big-ticket televised series with large corporate sponsors. Last Saturday, in Chennai, the band entertained the crowd with what stateside fans would consider a typically raucous Black Lips show, replete with intra-band lip locking, and Cole de-pantsing, mooning the crowd, and attempting to play his six-string with, well, his privates. Barely okay in America, definitely NOT okay in India, the band was subsequently chased out of the country and the sponsors pulled the plug, effectively canceling the rest of the tour and the television season. The events have caused an international wave of news coverage, rounded out by everything from defensive "It's only rock n roll" stories to meatier pieces that tease out the more nuanced concepts at play here, namely artistic freedom versus cultural respect.

Considering the wealth of information - some accurate, some not so much - that washed up on American shores after the event, it's fortunate that VBS.tv cameras were there to document what transpired. Over the coming weeks, VBS will be running a series entitled "The Black Lips in India," which faithfully documents the band's turbulent experience before and after the Chennai gig, their escape to King Khan's pad in Berlin, and beyond. The (100% NSFW!) trailer for the series -- which captures every bit of Cole -- is now available on VBS.tv.
