It's a story about duality and how we, by human nature, contradict our beliefs, perspectives and worldviews; even though we like to think they're perfect and infinite. More specifically though, it's about Love, Revenge, Sex, Drugs, Unity, Sweat & Social Movement; whatever that means to you. Join The Heartwood," said vocalist Jeremy Gilmore on the new album.

Indulgence: A Saga Of Lights is now available for pre-order via iTunes and MerchNow.

The album was produced by Johnny Franck, mixed/mastered by Nick Sampson and includes guest vocals by the aforementioned Trenton Woodley (Hands Like Houses) and Phil Druyor (Attack Attack!,  I Am Abomination).

Boston's Grammar share new track in advance of October release!

"Grammar excels in the unexpected, as evidenced by the shimmering cut, “New World.” Audacious lyrics surround the minimalist pop track, but they’re belied by the sly beats that wrap neatly around Lindsay’s textured, dreamy cooing." - Wondering Sound

Grammar is the project of 24-year-old Barrie Lindsay. Lindsay grew up outside of Boston and studied music theory and composition at Wesleyan in Connecticut. She formed Grammar her senior year as part of her thesis, where it took the shape of a 15-piece orchestral chamber pop group.

After graduating, Lindsay worked as a studio assistant for the sculptor George Sherwood and continued to write music and score short films. She joined her older brother Jack’s band as a keyboardist. As the band changed members and changed directions, they started playing Barrie’s original songs and became Grammar. She started writing songs geared toward the instrumentation of the band, focussing on electric guitar. After a year, they started playing out in Boston. In June 2014, Lindsay started putting together an EP of new songs, slated for release October 14th.

Grammar’s sound moved towards a darker, dreamier, cerebral pop — always with an emphasis on melody. The texture is warm and full but intentionally sparse.

In live performance, Lindsay sings lead vocals and is backed by a group of four childhood friends, including her older brother Jack Lindsay on drums, Chris Hemberger on guitar and voice, Sammy Stewart on keyboard, and Ryan Boyer on bass and voice.

The Pineapple Thief offers free download of new track "Simple as That"

The Pineapple Thief is offering fans a free download of the new track "Simple as That" from the band's upcoming 10th studio album Magnolia at: is set for a September 16 North American release via Kscope.

"Here's the opening track from the new album for you, the beginning of a deep and varied journey," said songwriter and guitarist Bruce Soord. "I hope you get as much from our new music as we do. Thanks for your support!"

Additionally, a Magnolia instrumental teaser video is streaming on YouTube at:

Fans can also pre-order Magnolia via the following links:

Magnolia follows the acclaimed 2012 album All The Wars and marks an important turning point for The Pineapple Thief, as it expands its musical horizons beyond the progressive sphere. Recorded at Snap Studios and mixed at Strongroom Studios in London, Magnoliarepresents the ultimate culmination of Soord's ongoing quest to raise spirits and connect. A devastating yet uplifting collection of 12 beautifully crafted songs, it showcases the band's intuitive chemistry and soulful demeanor, cramming a vast array of emotional shades and inspirational ideas into its 47 mesmerizing minutes. Veering from the strident opening assault of "Simple as That," due to be the first single, through to the cinematic sweep of the closing track "Bond," it marks an important step in the band's story, while skillfully encapsulating everything that has made its musical journey such a relentlessly fascinating one.

"All I ever wanted was to write catchy songs that stay with people," commented Soord, explaining how this record represents an important evolutionary phase for The Pineapple Thief. "The striking thing is that there are no long tunes... all I care about now is writing a good song. I don't think about whether it's rock or progressive or commercial or anything like that. As time went on, I discovered I could say everything I wanted to say within a shorter period of time."
New drummer Dan Osborne, also heavily involved in the production of Magnolia, brought fresh energy and ideas to The Pineapple Thief, strongly contributing to steer the band in a new direction. Completing the line-up are solid bassist Jon Sykes and keyboard maestro Steve Kitch. While string arrangements are courtesy of regular collaborator Andrew Skeet of The Divine Comedy, the stunning final mix was crafted by mix engineer Adam Noble, who has previously worked on albums from the likes of Placebo, Guillemots, Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams and Belgium alt rock band dEUS. The artwork for Magnolia was created by French artist Patrick Gonzales (

Formed in 1999 by founder and chief songwriter Bruce Soord as an experimental bedroom project, The Pineapple Thief has since continued to evolve and refine its sound. The group is seen by many as one of the most interesting and innovative rock bands the U.K. has produced in recent years. Previous albums like Someone Here Is Missing (2010) and All The Wars (2012) have made The Pineapple Thief's reputation and fan base stronger, resulting in interest from a wider audience. Bruce Soord also collaborates with other Kscope artists, joining forces with Jonas Renkse of Swedish band Katatonia on their critically acclaimedWisdom Of Crowds project. Along with this collaboration, we saw Soord join Katatonia on their recent "Dethroned & Uncrowned - Unplugged & Reworked" acoustic European tour.

With a new, blossoming sound, Magnolia has all the potential to bring The Pineapple Thief to the masses. This, the band's 10th record, could not only be a milestone, but also a mainstream breakthrough for the band. With Magnolia, The Pineapple Thief has created 12 musical gems that defy all classifications - anthemic, catchy, intense, honest and straight from the heart.

Stay tuned for more information on The Pineapple Thief and Magnolia.

COLOMBIAN NECKTIE: West Coast Sludgecore Merchants Stream "Kevin's Song" At Skulls 'N' Bones; Twilight Upon Us Full-Length Out Now

Today Los Angeles sludgecore merchants, COLOMBIAN NECKTIE, are pleased to reveal "Kevin's Song" to the masses via Skulls 'N' Bones. The emotionally-driven hymn comes by way of the band's new full-length, Twilight Upon Us, self-released earlier this month.

Crowned "scary sick" by Decibel Magazine, Twilight Upon Us was produced by Erol "Rollie" Ulug (Graf Orlock) at Bright Lights Studios and has been flooring fans and critics alike with its meticulous hardcore/sludge fusion. AngryMetalGuy commends COLOMBIAN NECKTIE's, "heavy, muddy, and chunky riffs," and "no-bullshit song-writing approach," furthering that, "COLOMBIAN NECKTIE are great for getting right to the point and not teasing you or leading you on. Song writing is definitely the band's main focus on Twilight Upon Us, and that's where they shine." In a 4/5 rating, Stereokiller calls the record, "violent and impressive...," Wonderbox Metal dubs it, "highly recommended listen for all connoisseurs of heaviness," while Echoes And Dust adds, "if you're looking for some intense music that brings together some of your old favorites - Dystopia, Mohinder,Pg. 99 or even Cave In, check out  Twilight Upon Us."

As devouring as the record is however, much of Twilight Upon Us is rooted in tragedy as evidenced in ten-minute opus "Kevin's Song," written in honor of their late former bandmate. "As soon as I heard [guitarists] Ben [Daniels] and Juan [Hernandez-Cruz] playing the riffs for what would become 'Kevin's Song,' I knew we had something," relays vocalist Scott Werren. "Lyric-wise, all I could think of at first is the feeling of pain and loss but also this vision of Kevin just moving past a physical form and exploring the galaxy. So I made it like silver surfer riding through the universe giving us a report back on his findings."

Hear "Kevin's Song," now playing at Skulls 'N' Bones, at THIS LOCATION.

And if you missed it, sample "Guiding Light," still streaming at Decibel Magazine at THIS LOCATION as well as "Sleepwalking" available at Metal Insider at THIS LOCATION.

Named in honor of a song by iconic noise rockers Big Black but more commonly known as a method of murder where the victim's throat is slashed and the tongue is pulled through the open wound,COLOMBIAN NECKTIE has earned a reputation for their punishing riffs and maniacal DIY work ethic. Though clearly rooted in hardcore, tracks like the syncopated, sludgy death march of "Play The Game" and midtempo thrash of "Drought," complete with squealing synths, add a welcome dose of variance to an album that's uncompromising in its aggression.

Twilight Upon Us is out now independently. Order your copy today HERE.

THE FUROR - Black/Thrash/Death attack from Australia

This is gnarly, vehement Black/Death/Thrash Metal from a country that knows how it's to be done. Riffing and music takes precedence over anything else and the result is overwhelming. One-man army Disaster/Louis Rando is just going for the kill. This is instantly reminiscent of early Destroyer 666Angelcorpse/Order from ChaosMorbid AngelHate Eternal and of course Impiety. The raging intensity is comparable to the adrenaline-pumped Brazilian bands like Krisiun and its peers, whereas the thrashy edge is vicious, toxic and lethal. The drumming is unreal, Dizazter's main talent. The Furor is a byword for intensity and the band releases what's evidently its best and most accomplished album yet.

Zola Jesus today unleashed her new video for “Dangerous Days” directed by contemporary visionary artist Tim Saccenti who has created an awe-inspiring backdrop for this anthemic song. Saccenti explains, “The song is a pure emotional plea, a future primitive call to arms. To create a moment of light in these dark times was our hope. Eschewing a heavy narrative we let the images of the Earth, filmed in wide screen and mixed with a tense unnatural presence, wash over the viewer while Nika communicates her powerful message.” Nika describes the video making process, “Working with Tim was effortless. His creative ambition to turn the abstract into a tangible feel is a rare treasure.” The video premiered today here on Watch and share the video for “Dangerous Days” here.

Zola Jesus’s TAIGA is due for release October 7th, 2014 on Mute (pre-order here: First single“Dangerous Days” is available for download on iTunes and Amazon and to stream on Spotify. Nika’s record release tour begins in San Francisco on October 8th, hitting major US cities, before the UK and Europe. Full list of dates is below, and tickets are on sale nowhere.  Watch the tour trailer here.

Nika is the 25-year-old behind Zola Jesus’ creative incarnations as sole singer and songwriter. Influenced by her time in Iceland, Vermont, and British Columbia, TAIGA was written on Vashon Island, WA and conjures all these places while creating a sonic space of its own that each listener can travel to, explore, hide in, and celebrate. Nika tracked and mixed the album in Los Angeles with co-producer Dean Hurley (David Lynch, Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse).

At once challenging and accessible, TAIGA is a transition for Zola Jesus. Undeniably branded with what Nika terms a “piercing ambition,” the album is best described by the artist herself: “The music on the record is massive, with big brass and beats, crystal clear vocals…It’s the most accessible music I’ve ever made, but also the most earnest and passionate. I gave everything for this record, more than ever before.”
