Brimstone Blondes are a raucous four-piece Buffalo-based surf punk band that combines aspects of the Talking Heads, Iggy Pop, and Elvis Costello. Their debut album, AGE OF CONSENT (Admirable Traits Records), consists of seven songs, ranging from frantic glam punk to R. Kelly-referencing slow burn ballads, all tied together with energetic performances and piercing lyricism. Produced by Brandon Schlia of Steak & Cake Records, Brimstone Blondes' debut album is witty, eclectic, and unlike anything in indie rock.
AGE OF CONSENT was inspired by listening to R. Kelly's "Ignition (Remix)" drunk and alone on a frigid Saturday night, the horrors of rural Pennsylvania, Dirty Mind by Prince, the Coalition for a Smoke-Free City, The Disaster Artist by Greg Sestero, "Xavier: Renegade Angel," Bangerz by Miley Cyrus, and, of course, BasedGod.
