LEWIS & CLARKE

Perform @ The Museum of Modern Art in NYC, 9:30pm Tomorrow Evening!

The songs of Lewis & Clarke are medicinal, meditative, and trance-inducing. They wind along lengthy lines of chamber folk, full of bows and bells, aphorisms and dreamy dreams. Both literally and figuratively, Blasts of Holy Birth is about being born and re-born.

Eve Miller and Russell Higbee join the folds of nylon-string guitar, harp, keyboard, horns, strings, and drums, with Lou Rogai, the voice and vision, with arms of friends draped in the name Lewis & Clarke.

Rogai is a pastoralist, a rat-race expatriate, an old-soul musician who chose to live more deliberately with his family under the eaves of mountain trees in Pennsylvania's Delaware Water Gap. It is a community distant to the big city's pace, but close enough for gigs and recording sessions with his city-folk colleagues. Among them are Russell Higbee (harp, keys) of Man Man and Eve Miller of Rachel's (cello) who, too, embrace the exploration of sinewy eastern melody and unaffected compassion called Lewis & Clarke.

"A profound work of earthy, orchestrated new-folk, Blasts Of Holy Birth raises the bar for both listeners and players in search of evolution in roots-oriented music. Meshing gorgeously hushed melodies and plucked guitars with baroque string arrangements and ethereal pulses and surges, Lewis & Clarke ( a.k.a. Del. Water Gap's Lou Rogai) has crafted a transcendent work of epic proportions. Themed around the birthing experience, the album moves in tidal breaths through meditative and hazy soundscapes, delicate minimalism, and goose bump inducing chamber sections. An expose of grace, beauty, peril, triumph, and the interconnectivity of all things - musically and lyrically, it's really that good." - Impose Magazine

In Delaware Water Gap, one can tune in to vibrations that only exist in certain areas. It is here that Rogai, with his family, took to nest in an antiquated dwelling within earshot of an historic jazz landmark: tuned in, turned on, and just far enough away from the rattle of the rest of the world.

Blasts of Holy Birth was written not with the usual pen-in-hand love-lost scribbles that song scribes commonly sing; here are celebrations, hand-in-hand, of life's travails and joys!

Lewis & Clarke songs are long and unhurried life lessons, believed and still unveiling truths, to himself and his son, who was months away from LIFE: Day One while this album was being composed. The only piece here not written by Rogai, "Comfort Inn", is by his friend, Aaron Ross, the CA mountain dweller and singer of Hella. Ross was awaiting the birth of his daughter during same time that Rogai expected his son, and so it only fit that they share in each other's song.

Over the last few years, Lewis & Clarke have toured and performed with Isobel Campbell (Belle & Sebastian), Blur, Robyn Hitchcock, Joan of Arc, Okkervil River, Mi & L'au, The Black Swans and other contemporaries.

And as is the case with good artists and smart adults, it is through big change and artistic redemption that we re-learn who we really are. And as the meat of life is inseparable from the weight of song, Lewis & Clarke's heavy-duty beauty, Blasts of Holy Birth, is born.

"Blasts of Holy Birth" Tracklist:
1. Secret Of The Golden Flower
2. Blasts Of Holy Birth
3. Comfort Inn

Royal Oak Music Theatre Concert Announcement: Robin Trower

Experience a Euphoric Evening of Blues,
“Pyschedelia” and Sheer Power!
ROBIN TROWER WORLD TOUR 2008
Live at the Royal Oak Music Theatre Saturday, March 29th!

Royal Oak- AEG Live presents Robin Trower, a timeless blues legend at the Royal Oak Music Theatre on March 29, 2008. Tickets will go on sale Friday, December 7th at 5pm.

Robin Trower is an English rock guitarist whose symphonic rock sound generates an inventive style that is all his own. In 1962, Trower’s first professional group was the rhythm and blues band, The Paramounts, which included drummer BJ Wilson, pianist Gary Brooker and bassist Chris Copping (later replaced by Diz Derrick). In 1967, after The Paramounts’ breakup, Trower joined Procul Harem, a progressive rock band best known for their 1967 hit single “A Whiter Shade of Pale.” The group maintained a devoted following throughout their career, with their music principally noted for its classical influences and blues and pop embrace. Trower's first venture alone, Jude, was a Led Zeppelin-influenced four-piece featuring ex-Jethro Tull drummer Clive Bunker, bassist James Dewar of Stone the Crows, and pub-rocker Frankie Miller. However, Jude never managed to record an album. Instead, Trower played a few solo gigs before signing with Chrysalis in 1973, which was shortly followed by the release of his début “Twice Removed from Yesterday.” In 1974 Trower released his magnum opus “Bridge of Sighs,” which was recently re-mastered and re-released this year.

This tour promises to be musical treat for the senses. You won’t want to miss this icon of blues rock as he brings us a night of musical intrigue and haunting melodies.

Mahjongg Announce 2008 Winter Kontpab Tour Sophomore LP Kontpab Out on K Records February 12th 2008

As a collective, Mahjongg believe that the body of human knowledge is our most prized asset, and that the harmonic proportions of music are universal in other fields of endeavor. They are fighting for the power of science. Many are against science, but Mahjongg believe in the power of Humanity, and influence people to dance, to make love energy, to love each other and care for each other. They creatively forge the primal forces they've derived from other cultures to curtail our self-destructive tendencies and spawn a soundtrack for a new community.

Mahjongg began in Columbia, Mo., which many consider a small, isolated place.Through the communication revolution that has transformed our culture in the past generation, this isolation gave Mahjongg the advantage of encapsulating their community spirit, as cogently summed up on Kontpab. Mahjongg get real and Kontpab keeps you elevated, raking across several strata of dance floor enchantment to sustain the listener in a cocoon of measured propulsion; "listener" transformed by empirical data into a "believer". Hard facts, hard rhythms.

GIANT STEP CELEBRATES 2007 AS THE LEADER IN MUSIC & LIFESTYLE MARKETING

New York, NY- November 27, 2007 – Maurice Bernstein, Co-founder/CEO of marketing heavyweight Giant Step, announced today that his company is wrapping up one of its most successful years in its 17-year history. With a diverse client list that includes international corporations, luxury goods and the hottest musical talent from Amy Winehouse to Joni Mitchell to Robin Thicke, the company’s visionary approach to marketing sets itself apart as the “gatekeepers of style and success,” he reported.

Giant Step is at the epicenter of movement, pulse and scene. The company creates lasting, authentic relationships between brands and consumers by utilizing its own vast network of influencers. With strategies laid out by renowned marketing aficionado Bernstein, Giant Step’s rich history includes an instrumental role in introducing the biggest names in music such as Radiohead, Lily Allen, Jill Scott, Bjork, Gnarls Barkley & Outkast and executing memorable campaigns for companies such as LG Mobile Phones, Kodak, Puma and LeSportsac.

"The Giant Step name has always been synonymous with introducing quality music and products to a wider audience. In 2008, we are looking to maintain this high standard and broaden our reach," states Bernstein.

Giant Step’s strong grasp on the early-adopter community has resulted in many fruitful campaigns for a diverse group of brands in 2007. The company brought Absolut Vodka to life on the streets of New York City to launch their first new advertising campaign in 27 years. Over at New York City’s Hudson Hotel, the marketing company initiated a successful event series that will carry on into 2008. Luxury skin care line Jurlique looked to Giant Step to create the sonic look and feel of their stores globally. Sony Playstation, Levis Strauss & Co., Mini Clubman and Stoli Vodka all tapped the company to create unique, high-end experiences, both online and offline, throughout the United States.

Record companies—major and indie—look to Giant Step to introduce their next big talent to influential music consumers. With this year’s quality artist roster including Mark Ronson, Feist, M.I.A. and more, Giant Step was once again able to target a market segment like no other and play a pivotal role in shaping the global music landscape.

Giant Step has the tools necessary to pack a venue and create excitement around an event stemming from its vast experience in underground club and concert promotion. This year’s highlights include Amy Winehouse’s U.S. debut, Central Park shows such as Joss Stone and Common’s sold-out concert and Daft Punk’s groundbreaking performance at Coney Island.

TAD - BUSTING CIRCUITS AND RINGING EARS

Available on DVD
February 19, 2008
Through MVD

Sex, Drugs, and Rock N Roll with a side dish of lawsuits and in-band turmoil, Busting Circuits and Ringing Ears chronicles the band’s rise and eventual disintegration. It contains archival footage spanning the band's entire career, from the club days to the arenas. The documentary also utilizes insightful interviews from some of Seattle's most respected musicians including Krist Novoselic (Nirvana), Chad Channing (Nirvana), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Mark Arm (Mudhoney), Mark Felchtone (Zeke), and many others.

The audience will be taken on a musical journey from the highest of the highs, to the bands all time lows. It’s truly a frustrating story of the band's repeated bad luck juxtaposed with a close-up look at their influential musical approach. As Charles Cross (author/writer) states in the movie, this is a story of, “What could have been as opposed to what was”.

ANBERLIN

AS THE GROUP’s ‘CITIES’ ALBUM CONTINUES TO GARNER CRITICAL ACCLAIM, BAND RELEASES NEW B-SIDES COLLECTION ‘LOST SONGS’

NEW VIDEO FOR ”THE UNWINDING CABLE CAR” UP NOW ON MYSPACE

U.S. TOUR WITH MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK ARRIVES IN
LOS ANGELES TUESDAY, DECEMBER 4 AT THE WILTERN THEATER

As acclaim continues to grow for the ANBERLIN’s third studio album CITIES--which debuted on the Billboard Top 200 chart at #19--the group just released a special collection of B-sides and rarities titled LOST SONGS. The 19-song disc features rare and never-before-released material spanning the band’s entire career with special acoustic versions, cover songs and B-sides (see full track listing below).

ANBERLIN are currently crossing the U.S. on their fall tour with Motion City Soundtrack, Mae and Metro Station. Upcoming high-profile tour stops include The Wiltern in Los Angeles on Tuesday, December 4, the Agora Ballroom in Cleveland on Friday, December 14 and a two-night stand at the House of Blues in Chicago on Saturday, December 15 and Sunday, December 16.

ANBERLIN recently shot a video for “The Unwinding Cable Car,” the second single off CITIES which follows the popular track “Godspeed.” The group took a pared-down approach by shooting the clip in black and white and perfectly capturing the epic track. Alternative Press magazine praised the song for containing, “shimmering acoustic instrumentation,” Outburn called it “breathtaking…” and All Music.com heralded, “the acoustic guitar-driven “The Unwinding Cable Car’ is emo at its most naked.”

Check out the video for “The Unwinding Cable Car” here: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.showvids&friendID=3844590&n=3844590&MyToken=a99d2022-aa12-4dc1-9f75-0e0b56e6d15c

2007 continues to be a breakthrough year for the FL-based ANBERLIN--STEPHEN CHRISTIAN (Vocals), JOEY MILLIGAN (Lead Guitar) DEON REXROAT (Bass), CHRISTIAN MCALHANEY (Rhythm Guitar) and NATE YOUNG (Drums)--who announced earlier this fall they’ve signed with Universal Republic Records and will release their fourth studio album mid 2008.

SHAW/BLADES, STYX SIGN WITH BIDFORGREEN

November 26, 2007 - Environmental solutions provider BidForGreen announced today that they will be fuelling the famed rock band Styx and Tommy Shaw's side project Shaw/Blades in 2007-2008.

BidForGreen, which fuels Willie Nelson, Pat Matheny and Merle Haggard among others, will provide biodiesel and logistics for the tours. The service has been popular with artists, who get access to quality biofuel, and to drivers, who get help with logistics and delivery.

Tommy Shaw, legendary guitarist and singer for Styx and Shaw/Blades, wrote a blog for BidForGreen highlighting his interest in the company's services: "Bid For Green is doing what needed to be done--creating a data base of fuel suppliers and setting up accounts so that it has been made even easier for us to use biodiesel than to spend the time fueling up in the stinky line at the truck stop, something we've all accepted as part of traveling by tour bus."

Shaw/Blades—Styx/Damn Yankees guitarist/vocalist Tommy Shaw and Night Ranger/Damn Yankees bassist/vocalist Jack Blades—is currently touring the U.S. in support of their critically acclaimed INFLUENCE album, which was released March 6 on VH1 Classic Records.

BidForGreen President Dale Wiley was ecstatic with the addition of Styx and Shaw/Blades to their roster. "Many of my teenage hours were spent listening to 'Blue Collar Man' and 'Renegade.' Tommy Shaw is really ahead of the curve on environmental issues, and it is a pleasure to work with him."

Shaw's blog on the environment can be viewed at http://www.bidforgreen.com/bid/guestblog.php. Shaw also conducted an interview with BidForGreen, which can be seen on the site.

FUCKED UP

Announce Holiday Charity Single featuring Very Special Guests!

As reported from the band themselves. This is not a joke:

In honor of the season, Fucked Up has recorded a special festive single.

The a-side features a brand new holiday themed song by Fucked Up. Clocking in at four minutes, this ripper is about the birth of our lord and savior: David Eliade and serves as a taste of what is to come on Fucked Up's forthcoming LP, "The Chemistry Of Common Life," that will see the light of day next year.

The b-side of the record boasts a very special Christmas / Hanukkah / Kwanzaa song which has Fucked Up collaborating with:

James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem)
Cole (Black Lips)
Davey Havok (AFI)
Kevin Peterson (What's Your Rupture?)
Faris Rotter (The Horrors)
Mike Fellows (Rites Of Spring)
Matt Sweeney (Chavez/ Zwan)
Dave One (Chromeo)
Jacob Thiele (The Faint)
Morag and Ursula
Jay Reatard
Dan Romano (Attack In Black)
Trevor Keith (Face To Face)
Jason Green (Panthers/ Orchid)
Jerry A. (Poison Idea)
Shenae Grimes (Degrassi: The Next Generation)
Scott Vogel (Terror)
and Nelly Furtado.

This is not a joke. All of these people (willingly) participated in the recording of this song. This probably the most bizarre collaboration that they have/ will ever do. The recording time for this record was generously donated by Chris Hegge of Audiolab Studios Toronto (402 Salem Avenue North. 416-516-5542).

The record comes gift wrapped in special Fucked Up wrapping paper, graciously donated by Simone (sometime member of Fucked Up) of Punchclock (http://punchclock.org/) and it will be limited (there is no way we are going to wrap too many of these).

All proceeds from the sale of this record will go directly to George Herman House: a transitional housing and life skills program that supports women who are living with mental health issues in Toronto (http://www.georgehermanhouse.ca/).

To celebrate the release of this record and everything wrong/ right about this time of year Fucked Up will be hosting a very special event at Sonic Boom Music (512 Bloor St. West) on December 15. With the help of the very talented Tim Oakley, Fucked Up will be playing a live set in Santa's Workshop and the ol' jolly fat elf himself will take over the vocal duties for Fucked Up at this event. There will be surprise guests and a chance to take your picture with Santa and best of all it is all for free (of course you can bring a donation for George Herman House)!!! All we are asking is that you please bring some non-perishable food items (and please don't bring in something stupid like cream corn or something that has been sitting in the cupboard for years) for the food bank (we will have a box for donations).

So come down with some food, take a photo with Santa, watch Fucked Up and buy a 7". It is all for a good cause.

For the people that can't make it down to the show: have no fear. The 7" will be available (while quantities last) for mail order. More info will be posted on the Fucked Up blog (www.lookingforgold.blogspot.com) or on the What's Your Rupture? site (http://www.whatsyourrupture.com/)

RYAN ADAMS & THE CARDINALS ANNOUNCE WEST COAST DATES

NEW EP FOLLOW THE LIGHTS IN STORES NOW

Continuing an apparently endless run of some of the best-reviewed performances of his career, Ryan Adams and his Cardinals have confirmed their first dates of January '08.

The west coast tour extends what has already been an immensely productive year. In addition to the unanimously acclaimed new album Easy Tiger (lauded by Time as "a career breakthrough") Ryan & The Cards recently released an EP entitled Follow The Lights, comprised of "reflective and sober renditions of a handful of Mr. Adams' near-classics" (The New York Times). The two new songs on Follow The Lights (the title track and "My Love For You Is Real") will be featured prominently in the ABC primetime drama "October Road", which premiered Thanksgiving night. Finally, the band's live shows continue to thrill audience and critics alike; The Washington Post recently noted that "[Ryan's] perfectionism was apparent from the stunning arrangements and interplay with The Cardinals... the group sounded rehearsed and precise without sounding at all formulaic."

The itinerary for the January tour is below. All shows go on sale the weekend of Nov 30, except San Diego, which is on sale now.

SIEGE OF AMIDA RECORDS

Announces First 2008 Releases / North American Distro Through Ferret Music!

Blazing across the pond with such speed and ferocity that it made the Atlantic boil like the contents of a scolding hot cauldron, London's Siege of Amida Records is making the most bludgeoning Anglo-American pact by joining forces with Ferret Music. Like a pack of savage jackal's about to be unleashed on a meaty carcass, Siege of Amida and Ferret are proud to let loose the following artists that will thrust an onslaught onto eardrums everywhere.

THE BREATHING PROCESS
In Waking: Divinity
(January 22nd, 2008)

The first in a set of bands ready to launch a flank attack from leftfield on the world of loud music will come on January 22 as The Breathing Process are set to drop their much anticipated LP In Waking: Divinity. Composed of a rabid hybrid of guttural growls mixed in with icy synth vapors, these New England lads have finally discovered a secret recipe which sees to it that power metal isn't just for pussies anymore. Brave Words For Bloody Knuckles says "Powerful, Epic, Immense, The Breathing Process are bringing vitality, darkness and a new level of brutality to the world of metalcore. World class stuff!" Shredding drums and cacophonous DEFCON 1 like melodies peppered with abrasive thrash metal, The Breathing Process, will have their names etched in stone for years to come and can be seen touring the States this January / February with The Classic Struggle, The Ghost Inside and From Graves Of Valor.

THE RED DEATH
Godmakers
(January 22nd, 2008)

"The Red Death have unleashed an utterly relentless, surgically precise neck-snapper of an album. If this doesn't quicken your pulse, check your vitals - you may be dead" – Metal Hammer. The Red Death is bracing for their sophomore release Godmakers (January 22nd) following much buzz among critics in 2007. With the dual riff goblin spawned by guitarists Aaron Conti and Mark Kelley placed alongside the fire-breathing voice of singer Paul Hamblin, The Red Death have created what is quite possibly the most powerful beast sired from a brutal tryst of speed metal and serrated hardcore.

BAUMER Announces New Album "Were It Not For You" out March 4th on Eyeball!

In today’s current musical landscape, many bands attempt to create their take on a straight-ahead, definitive rock album, but few bands, if any, pull this off quite like Columbia, South Carolina’s BAUMER.

Formed in 2004, the four members of BAUMER, and their home-base Eyeball Records, could quite possibly be preparing the release of what may go down as one of the most powerful and truly epic albums of our generation. Drawing influences from bands like New Order, Nine Inch Nails, or The Cars, BAUMER take the sound of electronic power rock to the next level, representing, much like the aforementioned bands, a future of music we have not yet seen. Most closely and often compared to today’s contemporaries Muse or The Faint, BAUMER creates an album so amazingly slick and balls-to-the-wall, accompanied by their dizzying array of time signatures, it is almost impossible to deny the sheer brilliance of the band’s latest “Were It Not For You.”

Much like the band’s 2005 album, “Come On, Feel It,” “Were It Not For You” is the soundtrack to a late night dance party that ends in a passionate love affair with the girl across the room. Standout ballads like “In Your Stead,” will blow your speakers and your mind, and will unquestionably remain stuck in your brain for the rest of your life, “Hard Drug,” which sounds like what The Smiths would produce if they wanted to rock out, is a swirling and spiraling, gorgeous track that will likely end up on many best songs of ’08 lists, “On Our Way,” which should be the soundtrack to all those kick-ass days when you feel at the top of your game, and “Lucky Strike,” a monstrous rock track that proclaims “Love, you say it calms your nerves, love, stills your hand as it burns, you say it’s cool and keeps you thin, this one’s done, light one up again” will give any listener the chills and is oozing with sexual innuendos.

Bottom Line: BAUMER rocks with an unbridled ferocity that sounds like the band must have twenty members exuding this monstrous and unmatched supremacy. Introducing the future of music, and your new favorite band.

Players:
Nate Boykin (vocals, keyboards)
Kenny McWilliams (guitar, programming)
Chad Rochester (bass, keyboards)
Josh Kean (drums)

HYDRA HEAD RECORDS Release New Albums from TUSK and THE HUGUENOTS!

TUSK
"The Resisting Dreamer"

28 months after the start of initial tracking, 10 months since anyone gave a shit, Tusk is ready to share their magnum opus, their potential swan song, "The Resisting Dreamer", with the world via the Tortuga Recording Company (a sub-division of the Los Angeles based Hydra Head Records).

Two and a half years in the making, "The Resisting Dreamer" is a single 37 minute song divided into four tracks across two sides of vinyl or one side of shiny plastic (depending on your purchasing preference). Original vocalist Jody Minnoch was not available to contribute, but the record benefits from the disparate sounds and intensely talented contributions of Evan Patterson of Young Widows and Toby Driver of Kayo Dot. The two vocalists contributed their own lyrics in tandem and together weave a tale of regret, resentment, and (classic Tusk lyrical theme) descent in madness as the inner worlds of despair and guilt ravage the soul of the album's protagonist, who caves into their nightmarish inner world to ultimately taste "The Lewdness and Frenzy of Surrender."

Recorded and mixed by Tusk alumn Greg Norman at Electrical Audio studios (during Pelican's "Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw" sessions from midnight to five am) and Studio Greg Studios II, the album has a sound and style unlike anything they have attempted in the past. Occasionally groove-laden, occasionally spastic, and often unnerving, "The Resisting Dreamer" is the sound of a band that has absolutely no interest in proving anything to anyone.

Stream "The Resisting Dreamer" HERE!

Tracklist for "The Resisting Dreamer"
1. The Everlasting Taste of Disguise (07:32)
2. Cold Twisted Aisle (07:43)
3. Life's Denial (05:58)
4. The Lewdness and Frenzy of Surrender (16:13)

THE HUGUENOTS
"Discography"

Much like the members of the Protestant Reformed Church of France from which they took their name, The Huguenots spent the mid-to-late 90s reading the works of John Calvin, attempting to abduct the king, and being impaled on hooks outside the Château d’Amboise. When they weren’t doing all that “revolutionary” French shit, The Huguenots were a band truly ahead of their time, pumping out the kind of slash n’ burn noise terror that prefigured the current crop of “avant-punk” poster-children (we’d name names, but what’d be the point?) while razing various New England-area basements, living rooms and VFW halls before hitting their jagged stride on an HH-sponsored split ten-inch with SevenPercentSolution.

Up until (and during) their untimely demise, they subsisted almost entirely on a diet of rabbit meat and foie gras and included amongst their number Messieurs Kurt Ballou (Converge), Aaron Stuart (Piebald), Dan Colby (The Explosion and subsequently and now formerly of hot mods/all-time worst-selling HH band The Never Never) and Matt Oates (also subsequently and now formerly of The Never Never and currently of Boston speed grunge aficionados Angels of Meth). Included here is The Huguenots’ entire discography (hence the title, duh), including the aforementioned split, along with a solemn promise that they are not actually (nor have they ever been) French.

We know you’re asking yourself who the damn Huguenots are. Believe us: There’s a reason Hydra Head backed them with a split 10” in our modest early days (yes, they weren’t always the influential empire they are now). The Huguenots pioneered a style of avant punk that today has spread like the plague.

The Huguenots are defunct. So “no”: They won’t get back together to tour and cash in on this long overdue discography.

Some members of The Huguenots went on to measurable success in their other bands (Piebald, The Explosion, Converge and even The Never Never!). Plenty of people want to know what those cats were up to in their early days. As far as we’re concerned, they were up to making killer music at a time when the underground was alive with thousands of visionary bands. Remember Angel Hair, Clicatat Ikatowi, Twelve Hour Turn, Shotmaker, Gravity Records, Swing Kids? Likely not. Well the same fate of obscurity will not affect The Huguenots!

Tracklisting for Huguenots Discography:
1. Postscript (1:37)
2. Jefferson High (1:51)
3. Bent Wreck (1:26)
4. Sent It Airmail (2:03)

ROCKET SCIENCE - SPELLBOUND DIRECTOR JEFFREY BLITZ’S CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED FORAY INTO FICTION ARRIVES ON DVD

Teen Angst, Wit and a Killer Soundtrack Thrive in this
2007 Sundance Winner’s DVD Debut from HBO Video

IN STORES JANUARY 29

NEW YORK, NY – HBO Video proudly announces the DVD debut of the award-winning theatrical release ROCKET SCIENCE, a wry fictional comedy of adolescent angst by Jeffrey Blitz, director of the Academy Award®-nominated documentary Spellbound. ROCKET SCIENCE stars Reece Daniel Thompson (Dreamcatcher) as a teenager tackling the mysteries of life, love and public speaking in this unconventional coming-of-age tale which debuted at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and took home the Dramatic Directing prize. ROCKET SCIENCE arrives on DVD January 29th ($27.95SRP) and includes a behind-the-scenes featurette, as well as a music video by film’s composer and singer/songwriter Eef Barzeley (Clem Snide).

After wowing the selection committee at Sundance, ROCKET SCIENCE went on to win the Best American Independent Film award at the Philadelphia Film Festival. The film also drew critical raves during its theatrical run earlier this year; USA Today called ROCKET SCIENCE “smart, witty and blessedly unpredictable,” Carina Chocano of the Los Angeles Times wrote, “Blitz’s script crackles with dialogue that’s sharp, brainy and exhilaratingly articulate,” and David Ansen of Newsweek called the film “sharp and painfully funny.” The film’s enduring theme rings true with critics and audiences alike, as Blitz successfully mixes humor with a compassionate regard for his characters and their idiosyncrasies.

Life is not easy for teenager Hal Hefner (Thompson) of suburban Plainsboro, New Jersey. His parents, Juliet (Lisbeth Bartlett) and Doyle (Denis O’Hare), have abruptly split; his older brother, Earl (Vincent Piazza) is a budding obsessive-compulsive who pushes him around; and Hal has an unpredictable stutter that makes high school an exercise in embarrassment, self-effacement and horrendous lunch periods. Given that his active mind and quick wit tend to be obscured by his problematic voice, Hal is not an obvious candidate for his school’s high-powered debate team. So it comes as a complete, though not unwelcome, surprise when the team’s star member, the hyper-articulate Ginny Ryerson (Anna Kendrick), requests that Hal replace her former partner on the team. With his new role, Hal starts to see new possibilities in his life. Perhaps he can tame his balky voice and become master of rhetoric. Perhaps he can succeed in love and win Ginny’s heart.

The ROCKET SCIENCE multi-faceted, original musical score was composed by singer/songwriter Eef Barzeley of the band Clem Snide, and has received critical praise of its own. The stand alone, original motion picture soundtrack was released on CD in August by Lakeshore Records, and includes the “gorgeous” (Los Angeles Times) music of Barzeley, as well as two tracks from the Violent Femmes, both featured in the film. As film critic Peter Travers noted in his Rolling Stone review, “Eef Barzeley, where have you been all my life?” The refreshingly original music of ROCKET SCIENCE only serves to strengthen the film’s ability to surpass the clichés of coming-of-age tales. In the vein of Rushmore, Welcome to the Dollhouse, Thumbsucker and The Squid and the Whale, ROCKET SCIENCE attains a “darkly clever” (USA Today) and unique perspective on perhaps the most challenging, and defining stage of life.

DVD SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE: “HBO First Look – Rocket Science” – a behind-the-scenes look into the making of Rocket Science, including interviews with cast and crew. An “I Love The Unknown” music video from singer/songwriter and soundtrack composer Eef Barzeley.

JAYMAY

AUTUMN FALLIN' CONFIRMED FOR MARCH 11 U.S. RELEASE ON BLUE NOTE
DECEMBER 12 HOMECOMING SHOW AT NEW YORK'S MERCURY LOUNGE

New York City songstress Jaymay has confirmed a March 11 U.S. release for her debut full length Autumn Fallin' on Blue Note Records.

Currently touring the UK where Heavenly Recordings has released Autumn Fallin' to slew of 4-star reviews (see above), Jaymay got her start at a NYC open mic night in 2003. Soon after she was invited to play at various Lower East Side venues such as Pianos, Mercury Lounge and her much buzzed about (and oversold) Living Room Residency, which moved Gothamist to gush "Girls with Guitars are everywhere in this city, but this one --like a siren--was pulling people into this room and leaving them silent, speechless even. Shocked and lulled into a stupor."

Jaymay eschewed the inevitable and numerous label offers that came in the wake of these shows, opting to self-release the beautiful Sea Green See Blue EP, which scored an "indie spotlight" on iTunes and frequent rotation on Los Angeles' influential KCRW). She then began work on Autumn Fallin, a song cycle that vividly details the story of a New York City relationship gone south for the Winter.

Ultimately, EMI made her an offer she creatively couldn't refuse, resulting in perfect homes at Heavenly Records in the UK and Blue Note here in the states.

Since then, Jaymay (born Jamie Kristine Seerman) has taken up residence in London, touring Europe and the UK with the likes of Bright Eyes, Jose Gonzales and in coming weeks Caribou and Okkervil River.

She will be returning to New York to round out her year with a one-off homecoming show at the Mercury Lounge December 12th at 7pm.

JACKSONVILLE SYMPHONY ASSOCIATION CANCELS UPCOMING CONCERTS DUE TO IMPASSE IN UNION CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS

Jacksonville, Fla. – November 20, 2007 – The Jacksonville Symphony Association announces the cancellation of its Music of The Eagles performance, which was scheduled to occur Sunday, November 25. This performance has been rescheduled for June 7, 2008. In addition, the Association announces the cancellation of its Masterworks performances, which were scheduled for November 29, 30 and December 1.

The Jacksonville Symphony Association and the Musicians’ Union have been meeting since the beginning of September to negotiate terms of a new contract. “We had no choice but to cancel after the Union rejected our request yesterday to resume negotiations,” said Jacksonville Symphony Association Executive Director Alan Hopper.

“The Association is committed to reaching a responsible agreement that ensures the financial stability of our orchestra for the future. The contract with the Musicians’ Union must reflect the Association’s and the community’s current economic realities,” said Hopper.

The Symphony Association is asking Music of The Eagles ticket holders to retain their tickets until they receive new tickets for the rescheduled date. Although every effort will be made to reschedule the Masterworks performances, ticket holders will be able to exchange their tickets for a future JSO performance.

A letter outlining options is being mailed to all ticket holders for these events. No concerts after December 2 have been cancelled.

Patrons can receive the latest information on performance cancellations by calling the Symphony’s ticket holder hotline (904) 354-5547 or by logging on to jaxsymphony.org.

Bob Dylan: DONT LOOK BACK

ON NOVEMBER 20, THE MOST SEMINAL ROCK DOC
OF ALL TIME WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR
DOWNLOAD ON iTUNES

See the Musical Icon in a Classic Rolling Stone Calls “One of the Ten Greatest Rock Films of All Time” Available for Download on the iTunes® Store for

$9.99 Before the Dylan Bio Pic I’m Not There Opens in Theaters

NEW YORK, NY, November 20, 2007– On November 20, consumers can spend some time with the American Troubadour at the beginning of his career by downloading BOB DYLAN: DONT LOOK BACK, the seminal rock doc from the father of cinema vérité, D.A. Pennebaker. Available exclusively from New Video on iTunes® (www.itunes.com), it will be priced to download for $9.99.

When, in 1965, rock music’s elusive Bob Dylan combined forces with acclaimed political documentary-maker Pennebaker and his cinema verité style of filmmaking, the result became the most intimate glimpse of the rock legend ever put on film. Pennebaker’s hand-held camera and raw, unobtrusive style caught Dylan during his best performances and his most intimate moments; Dylan’s manager Alan Grossman, folk goddess Joan Baez, The Animals’ Alan Price, Marianne Faithful and Donovan add to the circus that is a rock music tour. Pennebaker’s first music film (followed by Monterey Pop, Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Elaine Stritch at Liberty), BOB DYLAN: DONT LOOK BACK is considered the gold standard for rock docs, and raised the bar for documentaries of any subject. In 1998, the film joined a select group of culturally significant films when it was nominated to the prestigious National Film Registry. DONT LOOK BACK’s release on iTunes will interest longtime aficionados, as well as new fans whose interest in Dylan’s early years will be piqued by the release of Todd Haynes’ innovative biopic I’m Not There (starring Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Adrien Brody, Heath Ledger, Julianne Moore and Richard Gere).

Hailed as one of the best films about a performing artist ever created, DONT LOOK BACK is more than a view into his final acoustic tour. It is a window into the spirit of the 60s, and a poet-musician whose words and songs shaped it.

(featuring members of Man Man, Vaz, Bottom of the Hudson)
Release New Album "Outsides" TODAY on Hot Dog City!

You hold in your hands the new and very special album from Philadelphia's COYOTE. Comprised of members featuring the late Trevor Butler (Bottom of the Hudson), Russell Higbee (Man Man, Lewis & Clarke), Jeff Mooridian (Vaz), and Ryan Hamilton, this all-star lineup demonstrates the triumph of a circle of friends soldiering on after one of the more personally catastrophic events in their lives.

Still active after the loss of a band-mate, the sound of COYOTE has become that of subtle, yet raging power. Some might recall a bit of Three Mile Pilot or Black Heart Procession, but nevermind those comparisons. The rhythm section plows right through any chance of being a normal indie band. The keys and guitar meander and toss melodies back and forth amongst one another, while the drums and bass powerfully crush beat after beat. Ryan Hamilton's vocals are not to be forgotten, chanting and screeching in perfect pitch, while remaining in the background 'til the time is right to wallop you w/ a prancing howl.

COYOTE brings elements of sound from each member's aforementioned band to create a spiraling hum that seems most at home in a Stanley Kubrick film or an episode of The Twilight Zone (listen to the track Tea Kettle for a better idea).

To listen to COYOTE is to venture into the dark nether-regions of our universe and psyche, and "Outsides," is a celebration and homage to the band's accomplishments, past, present, and future.

Tracklist for "Outsides"
1. white fox
2. quietly
3. tea kettle
4. headlights
5. old school gratitude
6. no young man

The Hedrons

Scottish Punk Band The Hedrons Runaway Stateside This Month For Select West Coast Club Dates AS SPECIAL GUESTS OF Social Distortion

Hollywood, CA - Indie rock band The Hedrons return to the West coast at the end of November for a string of headlining gigs, intermixed with sold-out dates with Social Distortion and Guttermouth (see below for dates/locations). Just one week prior, the all-female punk outfit will be guests of the seminal punk band, Sex Pistols at the SECC Arena in their native Glasgow, Scotland. Sure...it's Ladies First, but The Hedrons are anything but dainty - packing more ferocious power chords under their skirts than their brethren beneath their kilts.

With heatseeking drummer Soup pacing the tempo, dueling guitarists Rosie and Tippi driving the melody, Gill's bass work binds the sound weighty enough to support Tippi's nihilistic vocals and Mean Girls confident lyrics. Deemed "unashamedly authentic four-piece female rock and rollers" (London's Daily Telegraph),who "simultaneously channel the rebellious rage of the Runaways and the charming edge of Veruca Salt," according to Spin Magazine, The Hedrons create music for rock fans that live by the mantra doubling as the title of the band's debut - "One More Won't Kill Us".

The new concert dates will be the last chance for audiences around the world to see The Hedrons' aggressive and relentless live show in 2007, before the girls return to the studio to work on their follow-up album. With over 150 gigs throughout North America and Europe, including performances at the SXSW festival in Austin, TX and T In the Park festival in Kinross, Scotland, to say The Hedrons played the world this year would be an understatement. The group's west coast tour dates are as follows:

BURNSIDE PROJECT

Digitally Re-Releases Self-Titled Debut
Remixes Radiohead's Cover of Björk to Acclaim

Known for their seamless melding of indie rock musicianship with a beat-heavy electronic pulse, BURNSIDE PROJECT have digitally re-released their out-of-print self-titled debut on Fraga Music. With five added bonus tracks, the album has been remixed and remastered for a digital release and is available on iTunes, eMusic, Rhapsody and the Other Music website.

Vocalist Richard Jankovich's underground alterego, Pocket, quietly released a remix of Radiohead's cover of Björk's "Unravel", which has already been hailed by both Stereogum ("We've always been fans but this is the deepest Pocket's gone yet. Outstanding" ) and Pitchfork ("chops up Yorke's vocal, adding squishy synths and introduces Radiohead to Björk herself"). His Pocket remixes of Antony & the Johnsons, Of Montreal, Catpower and Mendoza Line, have created quite a substantial underground buzz. "Unravel (Pocket Mix)" can be found at his website, www.music-by-pocket.com.

TRACKLISTING for Burnside Project

3) On The Issues

14) Scratch Goes The D.J.
15) If I Think Of Love (Original By Lisa Germano)
16) I Do Believe You're Blushing (Original By Unrest)
17) Audio Liner Notes

Richard Jankovich began modestly as a one-man band with a pocketful of talented and willing collaborators. BURNSIDE PROJECT emerged organically from these sessions, fueled by Jankovich's inate knack for merging strong melodies with indie guitar hooks, manipulated sounds and electronics. His unique sonic blend and cinematically-inspired arrangements were heralded by the press right out of the gate.

Jankovich's melting pot approach charts diverse music landscapes: from the drum n' bass-driven "Blowfish," to the poetic indie dirge "Drainage," to the slo-core meets trip hop of "Wait." Songs like the opening track "Telling," in which old school hiphop beats propel catchy "la-la-las" over jangly guitars, or the melodic storytelling of "Sing With Me" are more then mere hints of catchy pop sensibilities. They are the foundation for Jankovich's multi-faceted approach to music and production, paving the way for Burnside Project's critically-acclaimed 2003 release, The Networks, The Circuits, The Streams, The Harmonies, featuring the hit "Cue the Pulse to Begin," best known as the Queer As Folk theme song.

Seven years later, this album still steers indie pop in fresh directions. The bedroom electronic recording lends an intimate and visceral quality. It's a vital glimpse of the band's earliest stage and a must-have for any fan.

Kate Nash 'Made of Bricks' set for US release

A lovable 20 year old got rejected from acting school, fell down the stairs, broke her foot and wrote an album. That album, ‘Made of Bricks’, found its way into our ears in much the same way, minus the acting school and breaking of bones. That is to say, we heard Kate Nash on a chance trip to Latitude festival in Suffolk this Summer and haven’t been able to get her relatable lyrics and hooky musical sensibilities out of our heads since.

‘Made of Bricks’, produced by Paul Epworth (Muse, The Kills, Tom Vek, Babyshambles, Bloc Party) is set for release in the States on January 8th, 2008 via Geffen. Subsequent U.S. shows are in the works for January as well with details to be announced shortly.

Gil Mantera’s Party Dream Announces Winter Tour/ Live DVD Live Video Archive Volume 1 out in Time for Christmas

Check out these two guys, Ultimate Donny and Gil Mantera. They’re from Youngstown, Ohio. They’re brothers. They’re blonde, handsome, and strapping. They play rock-style music mixed with alternative-style. They’re Gil Mantera’s Party Dream.

The duo started rocking shows back and forth between the Youngstown and Columbus, Ohio scenes back in 2000, sharing stages with a variety of bands of different genres and dominating all. On the strength of their incredible live show and two self-released CD’s, they grew to own a solid fan-base in every nook and cranny of the state of Ohio (which, believe it or not, is no easy goddamned task) and soon thereafter most of the Midwest.

By 2004, The Party Dream’s storm had expanded to envelop most of the Northeast and even parts of the South. All the while honing their craft, their stage-presence and songwriting abilities had grown to monstrous proportions, thus generating interest from tastemakers, labels, and a whole bunch of other pretentious wing-dangs. Despite the influx of attention, the boys held fast and maintained course until the right men for the job approached them. Which brings us to Bloodsongs in 2006.

SEDUCE IN THE CITY

WRIF AND EMERALD THEATRE PRESENT SEDUCE

Mt. Clemens, MI-Nov. 19, 2007- Detroit has been called many things; Motown, Motor city and Hockey Town. But let’s not forget another claim to fame, Detroit Rock City. Many great musical talents have come from the area, including Seduce. Seduce instantly had Detroit rocking in the 80’s. The band will once again captivate the audience of the Emerald Theatre in Mt. Clemens on Wednesday Dec. 5, 2007, with special guest Proper Villians. The doors for this 18 and over concert will open at 7 p.m.

In the early 1980’s Mark Andrews (bass, vocals) David Black (guitar) and Chuck Burns (drums) formed a rock band unlike any other in Detroit at the time. They called themselves Seduce, and they immediately lived up to their name as they stunned and captivated the motor city. Any crowd became instantly enthralled with the bands’ creative live performances. When Seduce stepped onto a stage, their energy could be felt before they played a single note. Once the band began, the excitement of the room quickly heightened and when the show ended, the crowd always wanted more. Seduce produced a look and a sound that Metro Detroit had never seen or imagined. They were the first band in Detroit to consistently draw over 1,000 people on two consecutive nights playing original music.

After releasing their first independent self-titled album in 1985, the band grew to an even higher level of popularity. They were signed to IRS, which was a national record label at that time. They released their second album in 1987 titled Too Much Ain’t Enough. The song “Crash Landing” was heard from coast to coast and Seduce became Nationally recognized for their unique look and sound. The band as well as their song, “Colleen” was also featured in the movie The Decline of Western Civilization Part II.

After reuniting on the stage of the Emerald Theatre in 2002, the original band members will rock Bath City all over again. Seduce along with special guest, Proper Villians, will perform Wednesday Dec. 5, 2007. Doors open at 7 p.m. for this 18 and over show. Tickets are now available at all Ticketmaster outlets and are $15.00.

The Emerald Theatre is located at 31 North Walnut in downtown Mt. Clemens. For more information or for interviews, please call (586) 913-1920 or visit www.emeraldtheatre.com.

Conscious Alliance’s Youth Against Hunger project (YAH) offers exciting alternative service-learning experiences for college students during their fall/spring breaks. YAH synthesizes service learning by combining education and hands-on service. The inaugural YAH trip took place October 21-26, 2007, with students from Warren Wilson College (Asheville, NC) participating. YAH students learned about hunger related issues, as well as Lakota culture, by providing compassionate cross-cultural community service on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. While on the reservation, students lodged with community leaders Floyd and Natalie Hand, as they sorted and distributed food to community members in need, aided with home repairs for Lakota families, participated in educational sessions with Lakota elders, and communicated with Pine Ridge college students and peers about current cultural, social, economic, and environmental issues. Conscious Alliance’s YAH provides students with the knowledge and support they need to return to their respective communities and, using the skills they have acquired, create positive change in their local communities. The next YAH trip will take place in spring 2008. Royal Oak- AEG Live presents NOFX, wsg/ No Use for a Name and The Flatliners. This will prove to be punk rock at its finest, coming to the Royal Oak Music Theatre on March 6th, 2008. Tickets will go on sale Friday, November 23rd at 10am.

NOFX started back in the winter of 1983 when the band members were only 16 years old. The members of NOFX began writing songs and playing shows in Hollywood and about a year later started touring. Soon they began recording songs and in the year 1989 they hit their big break when Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion heard their song, “S&M Airlines.” They were then signed to Epitaph Records, releasing their first full length album of the same name. From then on NOFX built a reputation of becoming a premier stable of punk revival artists. The band consistently pushed the boundaries of anti-commercial extreme; exemplified by their 1992 album White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean’s accompanying single "Please Play This Song on the Radio," which lured radio programmers with its tight melody, but ends with a stream of obscenities. Fast forward to today – NOFX is set to release their newest album “They’ve Actually Gotten Worse Live” on November 20, 2007. After 15 world tours under their belt and 10 full length albums, NOFX has proven that they’re here to stay.

With the added bonus of hardcore punk legends No Use for a Name, and 1997’s breakout punk revivalists, The Flatliners, this will be a history making event for punk enthusiasts across the country.
