Paper Bag Records To Release Sally Shapiro's US Debut Disco Romance

Paper Bag Records is pleased to announce the track listing and release of Swedish singer Sally Shapiro’s 2007 debut Disco Romance in North America on October 30. The album was written and produced by Johan Agebjörn and saw its breakthrough European release last year, making an impact around the globe. The US release will feature three brand new tracks: “Skating in the Moonshine”, “He Keeps Me Alive” and “Jackie Jackie”, as well as the extended version of the single that started it all, “I’ll Be By Your Side”, previously only available on vinyl.

The European release of Disco Romance was met with overwhelming praise, earning an 8.5/10 and “Best New Music” at Pitchfork in early 2007, a number 11 position in the iTunes US electronic charts and numerous featured interviews in publications such as Vice and XLR8R magazine’s with the reserved and ambiguous Shapiro. Among others enthusiasts were the Village Voice and The San Francisco Bay Guardian, who claimed, “Fans of St. Etienne and Annie should run out and buy it before they've finished reading this sentence. (It’s an) early contender for album of the year.”

Sally Shapiro has remained somewhat of an enigma and a mystery to her followers. She has, for example, turned up to her own release party incognito, and is rarely photographed. From a relationship born out of mere office acquaintances in 2001, Shapiro and Johan Agebjörn found common ground in 2004 when an exchange of mix tapes revealed their shared musical taste which included such artists as Madonna, Limahl, Visage, Savage and Fun Fun. Eventually “I’ll Be By Your Side”, the single penned by Agebjörn, premiered on the popular Swedish P3. The care put into this new version will further secure its place as one of the year’s most heartfelt and utterly irresistible albums.

Disco Romance tracklisting:

1. I'll Be By Your Side (Extended Mix)

2. I Know

3. Find My Soul

4. Time to Let Go

5. Anorak Christmas

6. He Keeps Me Alive

7. Hold Me So Tight

8. Skating in the Moonshine

9. Jackie Jackie (Spend This Winter With Me)

10. Sleep in My Arms

Art Brut Announce Mini September Tour, Including 3 US Festivals

Bumbershoot (Seattle, WA) - Hideout Block Party (Chicago, IL) - Monolith Festival (Red Rocks, Co)
Secret Fall Tour Still To Come / "It's A Bit Complicated" Out Now On Downtown Records

Check Out Art Brut Backstage at The Conan O’Brien Show with the one and only Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) - Best Friends Forever!
"Very very cool...the most entertaining [band]...they're great" - Daniel Radcliffe on Art Brut, to Conan O'Brien

Spin Magazine “Complicated shows a real grasp of musical history.” [Jul 2007, p.99]

Pitchfork Media “By only gently nudging the musical formula on It's a Bit Complicated, Art Brut have succeeded in crafting a satisfying half-mature sequel, but may have only delayed, rather than thwarted, the sophomore jinx.”

Rolling Stone “It all adds up to something lovably unpretentious – and pretty unique.”

Entertainment Weekly “Idiosyncratic yet entertaining guitar-based pop.” [22 Jun 2007, p.69]

Los Angeles Times “ As good as much of the new British rock can be, it is experiencing a creeping seriousness these days. "It's a Bit Complicated" is a welcome corrective.”

Fresh off their “Direct Hit” performance on Late Night With Conan O’Brien, Art Brut return to the US this September for a slew US festivals and a handful of dates in between. Art Brut are currently celebrating rave reviews to their sophomore release "Its A Bit Complicated" out now on Downtown Records. In honor of this much festive occasion, Art Brut have been touring the world and will return to the US for a very special tour in late Fall.

It makes sense that Art Brut share its name with the mid-20th century art movement characterized by a breaking of traditional cultural boundaries. Much like that Art Brut—outsiderish, rebellious, punk before punk— this Art Brut, too, is deliciously libertine.

Art Brut was willed into being in 2003 by its sardonic frontman Eddie Argos. Argos seemed to think that everyone should be in a band—why not? Jonathan Richman-obsessed and more of a talker than a singer, Argos fronted The Art Goblins in his native Bournemouth, before packing up for London and convincing guitarists Jasper Future and Ian Catskilkin, bassist Frederica Feedback and drummer Mikey B to record a demo. The band recorded Brutlegs in 2004, and it included early versions of “Modern Art,” “Formed a Band,” and “Moving to LA.” “Emily Kane” was released in early 2005, about, yes, Argos’ actual high school love. It didn’t win her back (she’s got a boyfriend, natch), but it did turn Art Brut into a buzz band in their native UK.

A few months later the band released Bang Bang Rock and Roll. Touring commenced. They played with Oasis, and performed at Coachella. Then came the cover of Rolling Stone in Germany. There seemed a good chance that Argos might get his long-held wish of playing on Top of the Pops (it never happened).

While they haven’t yet written the song that “makes Israel and Palestine get along,” as promised in “Formed a Band,” Art Brut have succeeded in garnering a dedicated legion of fans and copycats. It’s all part of Argos’ master plan—Art Brut “franchise” bands. He swears there’s “at least 30 or 40 around” and it’s cutthroat competition to be the best. In a recently held battle of the franchises Art Brut 7 won (they’re Argos’ favorite). Art Brut 4 is rather sour about that.

Having just finished the band’s second full-length, It’s a Bit Complicated, Argos and crew are set to head back on the road this spring and summer, playing dates across the U.S. and Europe with Maximo Park in tow. Argos claims the new record is poppier than the first—could that be possible? Either way, with tracks titled “Pump Up the Volume” and “I Will Survive,” expect it to be tongue-in-cheek and rancorously funny.

And yes, it might just lead to peace in the Middle East.

“Yoshitoshi Montreal”

CD Release Date: September 25 2007

www.djsultan.com/yoshitoshimontreal.html

“This compilation is a depiction of the DJ and producer in me as well as a reflection of the impact that Yoshitoshi has made on the Dance scene, Montreal and myself over the years. It encompasses a colorful array of moods and styles starting with melodic and housey, moving into electro and progressive and ending with down tempo.” – Sultan, July 2007

Montreal, Canada has a reputation for being one of the world’s infamous party capitals. The cities French infused scene is driven by a large population of young people that enjoy partying hard until the wee hours of the morning on any given night. Vital to the development of Montreal’s modern clubbing scene is DJ / Producer Sultan.

Since bursting out of the Montreal scene in 2000, Sultan has gone on to be a huge presence both locally and internationally. His tracks have appeared on countless numbers of top-quality compilations and he’s forged a wonderful relationship with Deep Dish and their famed Yoshitoshi Recordings. This relationship breeds Sultan’s first ever solo compilation in tribute to the city that he holds dear to heart. Featuring Sultan’s own original productions, remixes and mashups of tracks from other respected artists, Yoshitoshi Montreal is both the perfect representation of Sultan’s skills and the Montreal vibe.

More than any of the other recently released Yoshitoshi mix compilations Yoshitoshi Montreal perfectly showcases the DJ as an artist. Sultan’s mixing capabilities are off the chart and he’s added much of his very own flavor to the programming. Appearing on the compilation is Sultan & Ned Shepard exclusive original production “Aidan” which has been heavily supported by the likes of Paul Van Dyk, Deep Dish and Hernan Cattaneo, The track sits along side Sultan’s remixes of his own Shinichi classic “No Why” and G-Pal's “No Other Man” and two new unreleased Sultan mashups of Valentino’s “Flying” with Narcotic Thrust’s “Waiting For You” and Joe T Vanelli's Epic “Prelude.” Other tracks touched by Sultan include his beat rework of 16 bit lolitas hit “Passing Lights” and Ned Shepard’s brand new remix of Sultan's classic “Night Visions.” Rounding out this great mix are previously unreleased tunes from Yoshitoshi newcomers Lee Wharton & Jay Lloyd, Spanish superstars Spider & Legaz and Sam Perez and Brusca.

Preceded by Behrouz and Miss Nine’s separate installments of Yoshitoshi Ibiza and Cedric Gervais’ Yoshitoshi Miami, Yoshitoshi Montreal is the latest volume in a popular CD series to come from legendary dance music label Yoshitoshi Recordings. Throughout the years Yoshitoshi and its sister imprints have released numerous worldwide hits and is responsible for jumpstarting the careers of many heavy hitters in the dance music industry.

Yoshitoshi Montreal is released September 25 on Yoshitoshi Recordings.

"In Los Angeles, a city full of actors, artists, and musicians hell bent on becoming the next big thing, it's nice when a bunch of nice guys actually manage to make it almost completely by accident..." - V Magazine

"The Indie-Folk Gods are bestowing another offering on mankind soon, this time L.A based outfit The Deadly Syndrome... mixing traditional folk acoustics and weathered pop melodies, the kind that won't scare away 14 year old girls.." XLR8R

“There’s nothing contrived about the chaos that prevails onstage when the LA quartet The Deadly Syndrome get unhinged…The unbridled euphoria and wry touches… helped The Deadly Syndrome go from zero to signed in a few short months. Well, that and explosive, unaffected songs right out of the Arcade Fire/Modest Mouse/Wolf Parade playbook.”– LA Times

"Lovelorn songs about ghosts and eucalyptus trees are spun around a folkie, amped-up sound reminiscent of a less melodramatic Arcade Fire." - V Magazine

“After seeing The Deadly Syndrome play… it’s apparent to me why they’re being considered one of the LA music scene’s most promising new acts.” – Radio Free Silverlake

Former YMO Members Form HASYMO

Original YMO members Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono, and Yukihiro Takahashi have formed HASYMO (pronounced has eee mo). More than just a melding of their previous incarnations as Human Audio Sponge (HAS) and Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO), HASYMO have developed a new sound that transcends the two groups.

The first single from the group, “Rescue,” written for the film Appleseed: Ex Machina, will be released on August 22nd by the commmons/Avex label.

Produced by John Woo, Appleseed: Ex Machina, is more of a new beginning than a direct sequel to the wildly successful animated feature Appleseed. Once again directed by Shinji Aramaki, Appleseed: Ex Machina will feature original designs by Miuccia Prada and Music Supervision by Haruomi Hosono.

Fennesz + Sakamoto Nominated for 2007 EMMA AWARD

Fennesz + Sakamoto's release cendre has been nominated for a 2007 EMMA Award in the Best World Music category. Other EMMA music nominees include: Rihanna, Norah Jones, Beyonce, Kanye West, Alejandro Sanz, Corinne Bailey Rae, Joss Stone, and more. John Lennon will be recognized with a Legend award, and the Lifetime Achievement recognition goes to Oprah.

After ten successful years in the UK, The EMMA AWARDS (Ethnic Multicultural Media Awards), move to the US for the first time in 2007.
The EMMA award is a televised, feature length, humanitarian media award. EMMA celebrates the very best in diversity, media and cultural excellence. The USA event will be based on the highly prestigious, phenomenally successful UK model and is to be completely tailored to the American audience.

The Event, to be held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, in New York is both glamorous and culturally enriching. The BBC has televised the EMMA's in the UK. The EMMA panel, with most categories open to online voting, has selected the short-listed nominees. The short-list represents the greatest achievements, the greatest achievers and the very best of the best. Previous recipients of the EMMA include: Nelson Mandela, Maya Angelou and Stevie Wonder. "Legend award" winners, (generally posthumous) range from: Ghandi and Bruce Lee to Martin Luther King. The "Legend award"; is always received, by a direct member of the family.

This year's EMMA awards will be in New York, a city of vibrant cultural diversity; it is a metropolis, as famous for Ellis Island, as it is for the United Nations. The entire award ceremony is transmissible, from the "red carpet" through to the after party, sandwiched around the award itself. The event is a hot ticket, one cannot buy seats, and one is invited. The guest list is made up of the greatest luminaries in Film, Television, Politics, The Arts, Theatre and Literature. The award nominees include: Bill Clinton, Spike Lee, George Clooney, Tiger Woods, and Yao Ming. We honour professions ranging from cutting edge theatre to literate surgeons.

Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair said of the EMMA: "The recognition of achievement and talent of ethnic multicultural professionals in the media industry has long been overdue and I commend the organizers of the Ethnic Multicultural Media Awards (EMMA) for their initiative in this area," while Nelson Mandela had this to say upon receiving his EMMA, "I hope that my receipt of this award will in a small way add value to the work that EMMA is doing in promoting cultural diversity and co-operation."

Five O ’Clock Heroes Come to the Rescue & Release Debut Album

Transatlantic Brit-Rock saviors certainly hold a deep routed and unconditional place in most New Yorkers and Londoners heart. Having carved their way amongst the masses from the indie rock explosion back in the early “Noughties” – they ventured on the road, the old school way, without funds and equipped with an array of amazing new songs, top notch live performances and a presence hip and dark enough to attract the hearts and eyes of any rock n’roll dude and doll.

Indeed, Five O’Clock Heroes have garnered a loyal legion of fans, on both sides of the Atlantic, after playing a string of European festival dates and about to throw themselves on the road here in the US this Fall – prepare yourselves for an onslaught of intense and good old fashioned mod rock beats and riffs. Melodies accompanied by the quirky and immediately recognizable vocals of Antony Ellis, singing tales of his tribulations – with tracks such as “Knocked Her Up”, “Corporate Boys” and “White Girls”, it’s not impossible to understand the charm, wit and appeal this band so blatantly possess.

“…rumbustious power pop by a New York / London band drawing equally on the heritage of both those cities.” – The Guardian, UK

Quintessentially a New York City band, regardless of where they hail from, they are the epitome of a gathering of artists from various corners of the country/globe, working together and pulling from their own individual backgrounds, musically and culturally and bonding over their mutual love of the city that is New York.

Five O'clock Heroes: born during the traumatic post 9/11 days here in NYC, the four band members began to write and play together in the East Village and quickly bonded over their musical tastes (and differences, even), then took the show on the road and soon realized that what they had hit a delicate and promising chord in music fans on both sides of the Atlantic, re-emphasizing the relationship between NY and the UK.

To be somewhat torn between the UK and US is entirely understandable yet they decided to reside here in the US but still draw very much from social observations in the UK and comparing to life in the US. A pairing up of two nations - the musical history that bonds them and their love of NYC that brought them together... then you have Five O'Clock Heroes!

A band notorious for not bowing down to the record labels and building up a firm fan base by doing it the good old fashioned way of touring consistently. Now they are finally able to release their album with the backing of a record label (Glaze Records) and can show the rest of America what Europe, NY, Australia and Japan have been rocking out to for a while now.

With enough material to record a dozen albums now and from touring all over the globe, they really are a timeless band with a timeless sound - comparisons to Costello, The Clash, The Jam are pretty spot on.

Working For a Nuclear Free City Set To Release Their US Debut Businessmen & Ghosts

Exclusive US Version Features Their Debut UK Album, the Rocket EP + Bonus Tracks

Out October 16th on Deaf Dumb + Blind Recordings

The Times (UK) "it just sounds so damn good."

Q Magazine "An invigorating reinvention of the sound of Manchester. Most refreshing."

NME "their mix of psychedelia, krautrock and electronic does sound strange - deliciously so."

Though the band’s name might suggest otherwise, the members of Manchester rock outfit Working For A Nuclear
Free City are not “a bunch of tree hugging hippies.” According to guitarist Gary McLure, the band plucked the name
from a British street sign they loved for its “subtle ironies and suggestion of secret bunkers hidden just underground.”

The band’s quirky, mysterious name is a fitting match for their music; WFANFC creates lush soundscapes that
are melodic and gripping without being easily sorted into any one genre. The band culls from electronic, dance,
and shoegazer influences (as far reaching as Berlin-trilogy era Bowie and David Axelrod) in an earnest effort to
bring something new to the table. “We want to create an alternative to the current retrospective trend in music,”
says singer and producer Dekko (a.k.a Phil Kay). “We just want to keep moving into uncharted territory.”

This is not to say that WFANFC does not have a distinctive sound – they simply do not sound like anyone else.
Beginning as the studio project of brothers Phil and John Kay and school friend Gary McLure in 2001, the group made
only slow-burning instrumental tracks until they added bassist Ed McLure to the mix, who introduced dance beats and
vocals to the tracks. “Sometimes a song doesn’t need words,” says Phil, “But we always intended to have vocals on
these tracks.”

What resulted is an eclectic mix of orchestral, adrenaline-fueled dance tracks juxtaposed with quiet, bedroom pop
songs and eerie, sparse, acoustic cuts. In the hands of another band, this eclectic mix of tempos and moods could
feel cluttered; on WFANFCs debut, the songs both compliment and challenge each other. “Troubled Son” pairs a
booming bass line with clanging industrial effects, “England” channels rainy day psychedelia, and “So” starts off as a
finger-picked folk track and ends in a booming chorus that would shake any dance crowd.

The band is no stranger to the live club scene, having made their mark on UK nightlife by crafting provocative
remixes--The Rakes, Polytechnic, Shitdisco, Archie Bronson Outfit, The Whip and Starsailor have all called on WFANFC
for an aural facelift, drawn to the band’s unexpected treatments of old songs. “I never listen to the original track if I
can help it,” says Phil. “I’ll take the coughs of the vocalist before he did his take and turn them into a beat, or take
the string noise from the guitar and make them into a new instrument.”

What is truly exciting about WFANFC’s world is that there are no constraints; their new debut US release
Businessmen & Ghosts, on Deaf Dumb + Blind Recordings, draws from loose grooves, neat Krautrock touches, and
even spoken word, and still feels like the work of a cohesive and musically-tight group. Featuring all the tracks from
their self titled UK debut album and subsequent Rocket EP on Melodic, plus a number of rare and unreleased tracks,
Businessmen & Ghosts is a groundbreaking collection from an important band on the verge of breakout success.

For a band that is just now making its United States debut, WFANFC could not be in a better position; they push
boundaries, cross genres, and still sound only like themselves. Just don’t mistake them for a pack of hippies.

Deaf Dumb + Blind is a multi-media company, whose film division debuted their first film at Tribeca Film Festival
this year, entitled Sons Of Sakhnin United this year, to wide critical acclaim. The film was music supervised by
London's very own Crosstown Rebel, Damian Lazarus and scored by Chilean techno wizard Pier Bucci, and features
music by Faithless, Hard Fi and Beck. DD + B Recordings have been busy signing acts such as Fujiya & Miyagi and
Foreign Islands, putting out cutting edge audio visual travel guides with Time Out, and are now ecstatic to
present Working For A Nuclear Free City.

Michael McDermott "Noise From Words"

Michael McDermott announces new tour dates in support of the forthcoming release Noise from Words, available at all retailers on August 28th from One Little Indian US. The tour includes numerous stops in Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia, as well as guest appearances on WGN TV and the WTMJ4 Morning Blend TV Show in Milwaukee. McDermott will also perform two shows in the UK, with stops at The Betsey Trotwood and the Greenbelt Festival in London.

With roots in alt/country and rock and a style reminiscent of John Wesley Harding and Willie Nile, Noise From Words is a candid song collection of addiction and the struggle for redemption. The album, primarily performed live in the studio using sparse instrumentation—at times paring things down to just his vocal and acoustic guitar—captures McDermott at his most intimate and most honest, duplicating the cathartic experience of his solo live performances. “It’s fun to have your buds onstage and jump around in front of a band,” he says. “But when it comes down to the solo stuff, it’s very naked and much more difficult to pull off on an emotional level. After a solo set, I’m just drained, not because I’ve been jumping around, but because I’ve just turned myself inside out.”

It’s precisely this acute degree of psychological self-exposure that makes Noise From Words so powerful. McDermott retraces the path that led him to the very brink of the abyss and back again on such unforgettable songs as “Long Way From Heaven,” “My Father’s Son,” “Broken,” “Just a Little Blue” and “I Shall Be Healed.” These understated but urgent songs form the chapters in a sort of aural autobiography whose thematic range also encompasses relationships (“Still Ain’t Over You Yet,” “A Kind of Love Song,” “Tread Lightly,” “No Words,” “All My Love”) and belonging (“The American in Me”), forming a comprehensive view of contemporary existence at its extremes.

Noise From Words is available from One Little Indian Records on August 28th. Michael’s first track, “The American in Me,” hits radio next week!

BONDI TSUNAMI - The psychedelic surfing adventures of four punked up manga inspired Japanese cha

BONDI TSUNAMI

Available on DVD September 18, 2007 Through MVD Visual

Zen and the Art of a Cult Classic Music Video Motion Picture

Progressive, totally original, and visually stunning, Australian Japanese cult classic road movie Bondi Tsunami heralds a new genre of 21st century inspired film making; `the music video motion picture’.

Inspired by the Japanese Surfing subculture in Australia, and Australia’s love for all things Japanese, the Bondi Tsunami film follows the psychedelic surfing adventures of four punked up manga inspired Japanese characters who embark on a satirical, existential journey through the spectacular `Zen’ Australian landscape. All that is real is surreal in the Land of Oz; the satirical comic book world of Bondi Tsunami explores the sublime, spectacular dreamscape of Shark (Taki Abe), a chain smoking, asthmatic Japanese surfer cowboy in denial of his own consciousness. Cruising along the north coast towards the Gold Coast, Shark, his friend Yuto, his ex-girlfriend Kimiko and a hitchhiking ghost named Gunja Man, encounter spectacular beaches and surreal tourist attractions, with a similar sense of ‘low-fi cool’ to that of Jim Jarmusch’s Mystery Train.

Shot on a hand held digital camera in beautiful Australia and edited on a bedroom computer on a budget of 12 credit cards, Bondi Tsunami survived the odds of having a micro budget and a cast of inexperienced Japanese actors and crew, to become a critically acclaimed Australian Cult Classic. Referencing the social revolution, free form `hippy films’ of the Easy rider/ Woodstock era, Bondi Tsunami celebrates a social revolution of a different kind; the Japanese surfer.

The film’s title was inspired by the `big wave’ of bleach blond backpacking, Japanese working holiday students and dropouts that make the rights of passage pilgrimage to Bondi Beach, Sydney Australia in search of sun, surf, salvation and the road trip of a life time. Trading the pressures of Japanese society and the rigors of corporate, salary man life, for a more holistic, free spirited Australian experience, these `new Japanese hippies’ have become a `cool’ and fashionable sub culture within the Australian psyche. Consequently the Bondi Tsunami movie captured the imagination of Australian audiences, when it was picked up as the `pet movie’ of Channel 7’s Sunrise Show (Australian version of the NBC Today show) before going on to launch at Aichi World Expo in Japan 2005 and screen on a successful nightclub tour.

The Bondi Tsunami movie phenomena has since attracted a legion of film critics and a massive following of Japanophile fans from around the world from Brazil, to Germany and India. The film has inherited a Rocky Horror Show / Blues Brothers type cult following amongst many Japanese and Australians, its `undeniably cool’ pop sensibility transcending the East/ West divide. As one of the first Australian films to feature an entire super sexy, super cool Japanese cast, Bondi Tsunami is now set to enchant Americans and Canadians with its unique mixture of Zen philosophy, music video, mixed culture, high fashion, art, manga, surfing and Australian road travel. Rich in mesmerizing color and striking cinematography the film is like a Nintendo Generation’s answer to a Bollywood Musical; although instead of exaggerating sentiments in to songs, it exaggerates sentiments in to music videos.

Designed for a new age of nightclub screens, plasma screen TV’s in sports bars, and home theatre set ups, Bondi Tsunami is a multi platform viewing feature film that can be watched subliminally, as a wall paper movie or as a linear piece. As a `music video motion picture’ the film plays out like a mesmerizing MTV channel, an eclectic visual, Tarantino style soundtrack of electronic, pop, dub, Hawaiian, country and surf guitar. Bondi Tsunami is also one of the first Australian feature films to apply the DJ techniques of sampling, scratching and remixing imagery to its editing.

Bondi Tsunami is a groundbreaking film that is continues to unite Japanophiles, Rock n’ Rollers, Freaks, Misfits and global travelers on video screens around the world!

AMALGAM DIGITAL SET TO RE-RELEASE A CONSTIPATED MONKEY AS PRELUDE TO KURIOUS’ SOPHOMORE ALBUM SEPT 18th 2007

Known for bringing favored acts like The Juggaknots and Smiley Da Ghetto Child out of obscurity and back into the public eye, Amalgam Digital strikes once again, this time signing Kurious Jorge to the label. On Sept 18th 2007 Amalgam will be re-releasing “A Constipated Monkey” as a prelude to his sophomore album which features Mf Doom on production due early 2008. “I’m real glad to be doing these projects with Amalgam Digital. This shits’ gonna be another fun record. That’s my word” - Kurious

Banking on the underground success of his singles "Walk Like a Duck" and "Uptown Shit," Kurious Jorge (the rapper not the monkey from children's books) released his debut album in early 1994. The album's subtle mix of underground vigor and flavorful party anthems pleased many of hip-hop's discerning aficionados. A guest list that included The Hieroglyphics' Casual and DJ Lord Sear on the mic and a back-from-the-dead Bosco Money from Downtown Science, The Beatnuts and Pete Nice and Daddy Rich on production gave the album a session feel. The album's wide range of samples, from The Black Byrds to Fifth Dimension, made for a quirky overall musical effect. Kurious does well to play up the strength of his honest style, a concise and careful delivery without sacrificing wit. In the end, the catchy single "I'm Kurious" positions itself as the album’s true watermark, while cuts like "Top Notch" and the B-side "Mansion and a Yacht" featuring Sadat X from Brand Nubian are also bona fide mid-'90s hip-hop jams. Of all the golden era rap records that are known to inspire feelings of nostalgia in today’s jaded listener, it is possible that Kurious’ “A Constipated Monkey” tugs at a b-boy’s heartstrings the hardest as it embodies the naturally positive and joyous attitude that is romantically linked to hip-hop of the past.

In addition, “A Constipated Monkey” Re-Release will feature several hidden bonus tracks not available on the original pressing.

TAB Announces Summer Tour

Boston’s Latest & Greatest Rock Trio / Tony, Adrian, Ben
Look Out For Debut LP

Boston Herald “With loads more talent than your average rock star progeny, the promising TAB should do fine without parental interference. Unlike dad's relatively clean brand of dirty rock 'n' roll, bassist/vocalist Adrian and guitarist Tony indulge in messy music mired in dark Deep Purple and Black Sabbath riffs and hip White Stripes and Stooges changes.”

July 28 - TT The Bear’s - Boston, MA
July 29 - The Khyber – Philadelphia, PA
July 30th – Piano’s – New York, NY
Aug 8 - Café du Nord, San Francisco, CA
Aug 9 The Echo - Los Angeles, CA
Aug 14 Troubadour- Los Angeles, CA
Aug 24 – Mercury Lounge - New York, NY
Aug 30 The Khyber – Philadelphia, PA
Aug 31 TT The Bear’s – Boston, MA

TAB formed in December, 2006 after Tony and Adrian decided they wanted to start a rap group featuring the characters Professor Bizniss and Tony Vegas, two fun loving lotharios who loved the ladies, money, and pimpin straight out of the south shore of Massachusetts. Luckily, Ben Tileston was there and, using the power of persuasion (and a lot of miller lite), got the band to stop rapping. What resulted was a ragged, hard rock band the likes of which has not been seen since 1974, but sounds like it could still be good in 2074. After their father, Joe Perry from Aerosmith, heard their first demos, he was impressed, but advised them not to write their own bio. They did not heed his advice.

TAB are: Tony Perry, Adrian Perry, Ben Tileston

GOTHICFEST RETURNS TO CHICAGO ON OCTOBER 12 AND 13

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 27, 2007

TRENTON, N.J. – After a successful debut in 2005, Gothicfest will return to Chicago this October 12 and 13 at the Excalibur with another outstanding lineup of music and grand expo featuring everything significant to the gothic subculture.

“Excalibur is the ideal setting for a gothic festival and expo,” said Jeffrey Swanson, promoter for Gothicfest. “We are bringing in DJs, a suspension act and a multimedia projection show featuring highlights from many of the greatest gothic and horror films ever made.”

This year’s musical lineup will feature 30 bands, including Bella Morte, Attrition, Red Flag, Piviot Man, Grigori 3, Regenerator, Ghost Orgy, Element a440, Deepest Symphony, The Vivid Twisted, Sin Division, Volkmar, 13 Winters, and many more on two alternating stages of continuous music.

Los Angeles’ DJ Absynthesis, hailed by the Austin Chronicle as, "a driving force..." and up for awards including "Best DJ", "Best Electronica", and "Keyboardist of the Year" in Houston, will be the featured DJ on Saturday night. Music appearing alongside Aphex Twin, Skinny Puppy, Covenant, and The Chemical Brothers on "Project Gotham Racing III" for Xbox360 have put this emerging producer-artist on a fast track to global respect and recognition.

Also appearing will be DJ Genesis, a Hollywood-based transplant from Houston, creates and implements audio for one of the world’s largest game publishers, Midway Games, as Project Audio Director. He’s a founding member of up-and-coming electronica act Phase Theory, working alongside producer/singer/composer Kirk Grahman and composer/songwriter Jonathan Kramm. During his years in Houston, he was not only resident DJ at Club 1415, but also became part of the management team and helped turn the club from five-star restaurant to one of Houston’s most popular nighttime attractions. He has shared decks with such DJs such as DJ Keoki of Club Party Monster fame, DJ Skot formerly of Haujobb, Absynthesis, Colonel Clique, Breye7x of Provision, and DJ Tommy Sunshine, and worked with such notable groups as The Azoic, Provision, Vertigo Blue, Luna Tex, Brio Kids, Asmodeus X, System Syn, Imperative Reaction, and many more.

In addition to music, North America's largest gothic festival and expo is the official expo for the gothic subculture, featuring tattoos, extreme exhibits, clothing, fashion, body art, and accessories.

313 Suspension Team, a suspension team based out of Chicago, also with chapters in Madison, Wis., and Tuscon, Ariz., will perform at Gothicfest with Ammunition, a 313 Suspension Team Performance Artist/Spokesmodel/Muse/Art Model/Fetish Model/Pain Slut/Nihilist. Founded in Madison in 2002 by Steve Bennett (head of Chicago Chapter and 313 USA) and John Kid (head of Madison Chapter), the team is a collective of piercers, performance artist, riggers, and individuals with a shared interest in suspension.

Numerous exhibitors will be on hand, including Graveyard Theatre, which has been bringing horror movies to television sets since 1997. Graveyard Theatre will hold its 10-year anniversary party at Gothicfest 2007. Cast and crew will be on hand, and throughout the Gothicfest weekend the group will host famous horror movie celebrities and more.

The Excalibur in downtown Chicago is a castle-like building designed by Henry Ives Cobb and built in 1892. The massive multi-room, nine-level maze can be a bit intimidating at first. With its gothic overtones, dark winding corridors and spiral staircases, it should come as no surprise that the space was once a downtown church. According to rumors, the building was also used to house corpses from a shipwreck before it was turned into the Limelight Nightclub by Peter Gatien in 1985. It is also rumored that the building was a place of Satanic rituals.

Tickets are $32.50 per day and $55.00 for a weekend pass. Tickets will be available at Ticketmaster.com and at all Ticket Master outlets. Due to adult themes, this will be a 21 and over event.

Gothicfest 2007 is sponsored by Rhino/Warner Bros. Records, Dark Star Records, Lollipop Magazine, Invisible Records/Underground Inc., Sonicbids, Goth Magazine, Rebel Radio, and Demons and Darlings

JUNE Are Ready to "Make Party Cool"... On Tour This Summer... New Album!

With the release date of their second album Make It Blur on Victory Records rapidly approaching on August 7, 2007, the members of Chicago indie-rock group JUNE simply can't sit still. Wrapping up a tour with Boys Night Out and Emanuel, June will see the release of their new album in Sweet Home Chicago before jumping back out on the road with The Graduate and The Higher on the 'Make Party Cool Tour'. Kicking off on August 11th in Cleveland, the boys will do a hometown show at House of Blues Chicago on August 17th and then continue south through Colorado and finish up in Lancaster, CA on August 24th. (see dates below)

If that's not enough, they even managed to squeeze in filming a video for the album's first single "I'd Lose Myself". Directed by Major Lightner (Hawthorne Heights, Straylight Run, Asobi Seksu, Norah Jones), the video (release date TBA) will ensure June's ability to turn heads all over the country, beginning of course, with the release of this second album.

Make It Blur is a marked departure from the band's debut album, 2005's If You Speak Any Faster. With Marc McClusky (Hit the Lights, Powerspace) in the producer's chair, the band set out to create their opus, the album they'd be incredibly proud of. And Make It Blur is just that - an album they're incredibly proud of. From the orchestral oomph of the opening track "No Time For Sense" to the acoustic-led intricate guitar work of "Finally" to the harmonica-laden pop gem "I'd Lose Myself", Make It Blur is an album that bypasses transition and lands them in the winner's seat. With each of the 12 tracks a standout, June has created a cohesive album that shows incredible growth and truly presents the band as seasoned musicians not afraid to show their really tight melodic edge while demonstrating their musical chops at the same time. "We definitely drew from our influences much more on this record," says drummer Mark Sutor. "It has a lot more of a pop feel. Influences range from Maroon 5, Third Eye Blind, Foo Fighters, Justin Timberlake, etc. I think the fans are going to love the songs because I feel like we have matured a lot more in-between the last record and this one."

Make It Blur is the sound of a band on the verge of hugeness... With this album, their potential to break through in a big way isn't blurry... It's crystal clear.

HACAVITZ EXPLODES + IMPLODES, REBUILDS AND RE-REIGNS IN BLOOD

Not long after releasing one of 2005's mightiest, most malevolent death metal records in Venganza, Mexico's HACAVITZ had its lineup decimated by half. Bloodied by unbowed, remaining warlords Oscar Garcia (drums) and Antimo Buonnano (vocals, guitar, bass) regrouped as a duo to record an even uglier, nastier, and more malevolently memorable masterpiece in the recently released Katun. Summoning eldritch energies from their native Mayan lands, HACAVITZ reap a whirlwind like no other, infusing death metal with a dangerousness too long missing from the ancient artform. And the Press has paid its respects:

“Primal rage, blinding speed and methodological malevolence, a vile blackened death metal attack” – Metal Maniacs
“Have spawned an incurable disease” – Blabbermouth
"Two better benchmarks [BEHERIT and ANGELCORPSE] for Hacavitz’s sound just don’t exist. This new album literally sounds like 1987, and in only the best way possible…chaotic and mercurial. That at times Katun sounds like some glorious junkyard jam is only a testament to the racket two men can make. To some it will sound like a mess, but there’s a complexity lurking behind every drum breakdown, every tortured moan and every decaying guitar thump that will eventually separate the flock” – Decibel [8/10 rating]
“Bestial black death metal…that most closely recalls ANGELCORPSE and bands like CONQUEROR, REVENGE, NOX and even some MORBOSIDAD…the riffs are sick and evil, militant and barbarous and the drums a full-on destruction ritual” – Maximum Rock ‘n’ Roll
“On Katun, these true believers have taken the swirling chaos, compositional depth, and crushing heaviness of Venganza, complete with bits of superbly incorporated non-traditional instrumentation, and raised its game considerably...A frightening album that speaks to its listeners from deep within the abyss, Katun refuses to be ignored” – Pit
“This primordial echo builds upon the fury of the band’s previous Venganza, churning out pristine facets of death/black metal reminiscent of MORBID ANGEL coupled with the ancient sounds of the Maya, Aztec, and other native peoples of Central America…much darker...Katun is pure chignon, so you best check it out” – Explicitly Intense
“The ominous and evil sounding vocals add an extra layer of darkness to an album that's already extreme” – About.com
“Will assault the aural senses even more with its brand of death metal laced with traces of black metal. The result is one album that will leave an impression on the listener that will last for a long time…Katun was essentially made with only two people; now imagine how the band would perform if it had a couple more members in the fold” – LivingForMetal.com [9.5/10 rating]

Liars – who will release their fourth album "Liars" on Mute August 28, 2007, will open for Interpol on their US tour this autumn. "We can't wait to tour with Interpol," says front man Angus Andrew, "They're all really nice guys we share a lot in common with... We're super excited to play with them in venues like Madison Square Garden and The Forum in Los Angeles, as well as some states we've never been to like Florida and Idaho. Most of all, we hope it'll be a really great night out for fans of both bands."

The first single from "Liars," "Plaster Casts of Everything" will be available digitally and on 7" vinyl August 14, 2007. The download version includes the B-sides "Volcano Police" and "Mimic The Hurricano" and the vinyl version of the single includes the B-side "Volcano Police." The video for "Plaster Casts of Everything" is directed by Patrick Daughters, who has directed videos for Beck, Feist ,The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kings of Leon, The Shins, Bright Eyes and more. It was shot on location in Los Angeles and features a cameo by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O. Check out the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-r8HWri41s

"Liars" – recorded on the heels of 2006’s "Drum's Not Dead" somewhere between LA and Berlin – marks another bold transition for Angus Andrew, Aaron Hemphill and Julian Gross. For the new album Liars have foregone theory for a more practical approach, one based on traditional song structures and instrument usage. The full-length album will be available on CD, white vinyl and download.

“I’d never felt like a songwriter ‘til this album,” explains Angus. “If you told me last year Liars would release a record like this, I would have laughed. If you said I’d be playing guitar solos, I’d have called you a liar. We never know what we’re making ‘til it’s made… this time I’m a bit shocked.”

Vintage Columbia tracks – “Oye Como Va,” “Black Magic Woman,” “Evil Ways,” “Everybody’s Everything,” “Europa,” “Samba Pa Ti,” and “No One To Depend On”

For the first time, the entire 20th and 21st century scope of Santana is presented together on one volume – from the Woodstock era rock and blues band that single-handedly brought West Coast Latin rhythms into the progressive-FM stream in the 1970s, up through their mega-platinum Grammy Award-winning years as Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductees in 1998, and Arista recording artists beginning in 1999. ULTIMATE SANTANA, a career-spanning celebration of an artist and their music, is highlighted by three previously unreleased tracks – separate collaborations with Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, Tina Turner, and a new track in the works – and will arrive in stores October 16th on Arista. The first single and newly recorded track “Into The Night” with Chad Kroeger goes for adds at all formats August 20th and video debut news will be announced soon.

ULTIMATE SANTANA marks the first anthology to include touchstone tracks from the band’s earliest hitmaking years on Columbia Records alongside the groundbreaking collaborations that highlighted their three consecutive blockbuster Arista albums: Supernatural (1999), Shaman (2002), and All That I Am (2005). All three albums were produced by Carlos Santana and Clive Davis – a welcome reunion for the executive who first signed Santana to Columbia Records and oversaw their formative years on the path to international superstardom starting in 1969.

Three decades later, Supernatural became – and remains – an unsurpassed industry phenom, 15-times RIAA platinum in the U.S. alone, the #6 best-selling album in Soundscan history, with nearly double that number of sales worldwide. The album spent 102 weeks on the Billboard chart including 12 weeks at #1 – no album since then has logged more than 8 weeks at the top. The album’s success was fueled by the smash single “Smooth” (co-written by and featuring Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty) which spent 12 weeks at #1 on the hot 100, Santana’s first #1 single; and “Maria Maria” (featuring Product G&B), 10 weeks at #1 pop, and 3 weeks at #1 R&B.

Most significantly, Supernatural generated an all-time record-breaking nine GRAMMY awards for a single album project, including Album Of the Year and Best Rock Album, as well as Record Of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Collaboration, all for “Smooth,” plus Best Pop Performance by a Duo/Group for “Maria Maria,” and Best Rock Performance by a Duo/Group for “Put Your Lights On” (featuring Everlast). There were also premiere Latin GRAMMY Awards (the show’s first year) for Record Of The Year and Best Rock Performance by a Duo/Group for “Corazon Espinado” (featuring Maná). ALL four of these hits are included on ULTIMATE SANTANA.

Supernatural was a hard act to follow – but 2002’s Shaman gave Santana a second consecutive #1 multi-platinum album. The lead single track was “The Game of Love” featuring Michelle Branch- which is also heard here in a previously unreleased version featuring Tina Turner. The album also included “Why Don’t You and I,” a track with Chad Kroeger, who joins Carlos on the new sure-to-be smash hit single “Into The Night.”

The third in this series of collaborative albums was 2005’s All That I Am, which entered the Billboard 200 albums chart at #2. From that album, ULTIMATE SANTANA highlights the anthemic rock performance “Just Feel Better” (featuring Steven Tyler of Aerosmith).

The ultimate triumph of ULTIMATE SANTANA, is how phenomenal the earliest recordings on Columbia sound next to their most recent post-millennial work. From Santana’s self-titled debut album – released on Tuesday, August 19, 1969, following their historic Saturday afternoon performance at the Woodstock Music & Art Fair – comes their first Top 10 single, “Evil Ways.” From their second album, 1970’s Abraxas, come two songs that appeared back-to-back on the LP and are inextricably linked forever, Tito Puente’s “Oye Como Va” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Black Magic Woman,” plus a third original Santana staple, “Samba Pa Ti.”

1971’s appropriately titled Santana III is sampled with two singles that extended their run of Top 40 hits, “Everybody’s Everything” and “No One To Depend On.” Finally, ULTIMATE SANTANA jumps ahead five years to “Europa” from Amigos, the 1976 album that introduced new lead singer Greg Walker, who stayed in the band for more than a decade.

2007 represents 40 years since the original Santana Blues Band played its first shows at Bill Graham’s Fillmore West in San Francisco. Today, Santana is virtually unique among all the first generation Bay Area bands as the only one to have sustained its success on the charts and on the road as a sold-out stadium attraction. Their track record boasts 20 RIAA gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums (including their first 14 consecutive certifications) and lifetime sales of more than 90 million albums worldwide. ULTIMATE SANTANA pays homage to the full spectrum of Carlos Santana’s longevity, creativity, and soulful musical conscience.

Al "Coffee" McDaniel Releases First Modern Day Urban Blues Opera, "The Blues In My Shoes"

Al "Coffee" McDaniel may be a new voice to the Blues, but he is not new to the world of music. He has been performing professionally since he was five years old. It was then that he fronted a gospel band. Granted this band was comprised of siblings, but he knew even then what course his life would take, and the direction he would pursue.

July 29th CPA Records, McDaniel's private label, will release a landmark recording for the Blues. It may very well be the first modern day urban Blues opera. This fourteen track CD, possibly autobiographical, in music and song, tells the story of a man who finds himself married to a woman who is controlling, abusive and unfaithful. He asserts his autonomy from this relationship, meets and falls for another woman who ultimately helps his career as she helps him attain fame and notoriety.

Al Coffee has successfully accompanied himself on this awesome CD with two of the most recognizable names in the music industry, legendary producer/songwriter/drummer, Narada Michael Walden, and blues great, guitarist/keyboardist/songwriter, Lucky Peterson. With this level of incredible future hall of fame artists joining AL "Coffee" McDaniel on this project, "Blues In My Shoes," it has genuine Grammy awards potential.

This phenomenal CD, which will be nationally distributed, includes songs ranging from traditional Blues, to Chicago and Texas blues, mixed in with a nice touch of R&B. While he paints each track with a different tint and hue from the Blues pallet, he defines each track with lyrics that paint a picture as though he were a fine artist. Each track, solid enough to stand on its own, comprises another act and scene that unfolds as it is listened to and considered as a whole. McDaniel's portrayal of the night club entertainer bedeviled by the woman to whom he is married, a woman who would possess him and destroy him, is particularly poignant.
This opus, storyline, lyrics and musical arrangements was conceived and composed by Al "Coffee" McDaniels.

Blues In My Shoes: A Modern Day Urban Blues Opera in 14 Tracks

Storyline synopsis: Women aren't the only victims of domestic abuse. Daily men are victimized by the women in their lives. These cases of domestic abuse go largely unreported.

In this story Al McDaniel plays the part of a night club entertainer who finds himself married to a woman who is abusive, controlling and unfaithful. She is resentful and demeaning of Al's profession.

This story is a poignant portrayal of a man married to such a woman, until he meets the woman of his dreams, someone who ultimately helps him in his career attain fame and notoriety.

Track 1/ Scene 1/ Act 1. Just Tryin' To Be Me. As this story opens, Al's wife Leche has flown into a rage, tearing up the house, throwing things at Al demeaning his profession, demanding that he give up. He sings this song, the opera's opening, just as he leaves the house and enters the streets.

Track 2/ Scene 2. Blues In My Shoes. Al is not scheduled to work. However, when he enters the club, many of his regulars, surprised by his arrival, call out him to perform something for them He sings and dances this number.

Track 3/ Coffee is present in the audience and taken by Al's performance, she approaches management and asks for an introduction. Management takes her to be a star struck fan, and sensing no harm in doing so, introduces her. Her friends think it odd that she does this, and so does Al's friends. Al senses immediately an attraction to this woman, a connection and performs this number.

Track 4. A Shoutout. Unaware of where Al is, knowing that he was not scheduled to work. his wife- Leche arrives at the club with a male friend. She sees and Coffee talking at a table, and flies into a rage. She creates a scene disturbing the club's patrons. She is subdued and restrained until the police arrive. She is carted off to jail. Al sings this number as if taunting his wife for the hell she has made of his life.

Track 5. 2 Headed Monster. At the club, Al's friends ask what this was all about. They have never known him to be anything but professional, and never suspecting what he endured at home. He tells them in this number, the only acoustically performed track on this CD.

Track 6. For The DJ. Recognizing that this scene has made Al uncomfortable, the DJ starts up the music. Al steers attention to the DJ and as the patrons of the bar start to dance, Al and Coffee slip out of the club.

Track 7/Act 2/Scene 1. Taxi. The relationship between Al and Coffee develops, maybe too quickly for Al. Trying to protect his feelings, Al has insulated himself. He breaks things off with Coffee and takes a taxi ride to clear his head and to sort things out.

Track 8. Scene 2. Hey Baby. Recognizing he loves her, Al returns to Coffee. He asks he to slow things down.

Track 9. Scene 3. Hello, Forever. He proposes to her.

Track 10. What A Woman Wants. He recognizes that he is prepared to give Coffee everything she wants.

Track 11/ Act 3/ Scene 1. Don't Touch The Dog. Al's wife has filed for divorce. In court she is present with yet another male friend. Al is prepared to give up everything he owns but pleads, " You can have my ex, but don't touch the dog."

Track 12/ Scene 2. Thrill is Gone. As Al leaves the courthouse, he passes his ex- and her male friend. He sings, "The thrill is gone."

Track 13/Act 4/ Scene 1. Scufflin' Al's friends throw him a divorce party at the club.

Track 14. Finale. Reggae Blues. This song represents the perfect marriage of Reggae--C0ffee is Jamaican--and the Blues--this is Al's background.

Al Coffee McDaniel is a national recording artist, and has released several CDs under his private label, CPA Records. Highly recognized as a premier male vocalist, and a seasoned guitarist, he is an arranger, composer, producer, and a captivating entertainer. No matter where "Coffee" performs, he captures the attention of his audience and fills them with music. While preserving the spirit of the original artists, "Coffee" revives their songs in a personal way, polishing them, enhancing them, customizing them with his own added touches, making each song more beautiful than it's original version. His performances consists of pop, blues, jazz, R & B, standards, mixed in with some of his own music.

McDaniel has become the singing sensation of Clearwater Beach, Florida, performing at the Cabana Grill & Bar (Sand Key) . He has developed a loyal following of locals who enjoy that fine, strong baritone voice, and the visitors love him, too. He has also appeared on several television and radio gospel music programs across the nation in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casinos; Nashville, Tennessee; Atlanta, Georgia; Raleigh, North Carolina; Washington, DC; New York City, NY; and across the state of Florida.

He has also performed with some of the great artists in the music industry to include, Billy Paul, Gene Chandler, the comedian "Sinbad", Joe Simon, Denise Lasalle, and others. While serving in the United States Air Force, he also performed abroad in Europe, South East Asia, and The Pacific Islands.

KASKADE RETURNS WITH NEW MIX ALBUM ‘BRING THE NIGHT’

KASKADE—one of the most exciting names in dance music—returns August 21 with BRING THE NIGHT, his new mix album for ULTRA Records. This flawless musical groove of 15 songs includes KASKADE’s remixes of works by Nelly Furtado, Floetry and his chart-topping hit “Sorry,” alongside tracks by Bob Sinclar, Armand Van Helden and many more.

The collective vision of Bring the Night isn’t a journey nor does it wax philosophical; rather, it marks a timestamp on the party scene and everything current and fresh in house music today. “For me, this mix is about what’s happening right now in the club. This is the kind of set I’ve put together,” says Kaskade.

In conjunction with the release of Bring The Night--the follow-up to his last artist album Love Mysterious (Ultra Records) from 2006--KASKADE will set forth on a major North American DJ tour encompassing more than 40 appearances over a three-month period. The San Francisco resident will visit major and secondary markets including Toronto, Montreal, Los Angeles, Detroit and San Antonio. He’ll also travel overseas for dates in South America, Europe, Japan and Australia.

KASKADE launched his career with his 2003 debut album It’s You, It’s Me. In 2004 he followed with In The Moment, highlighted by his major breakout single “Steppin’ Out.” From Budweiser commercials to MTV’s The Real World, the rocker-styled guitar riffs of “Steppin’ Out” mixed to a bass-heavy backbeat was contagious in its appeal, and burst open a wholly new and original sound to dance music. KASKADE’s accolades and recognition for his song and other production work—including remixes for The Pussycat Dolls, David Morales, Mark Farina and Floetry--are numerous. He earned a nomination for “The Borders Award for Best New Artist” in 2004 and high rankings in “America’s Favorite DJ Poll” conducted by BPM Magazine.

SHOUT! FACTORY UNLEASHES THE WILD WOMEN OF WONGO

MST3K Stars Mike Nelson, Bill Corbett and Kevin Murphy Return as The Film Crew,

Presenting a Twisted Take on Wild Women of Wongo

IN STORES SEPTEMBER 11

Just last month, the brilliantly insane minds behind the cult classic TV show “Mystery Science Theater 3000” (MST3K) thrilled fans with the first installment of their newest venture, The Film Crew. Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett joined forces with Shout! Factory for the new direct-to-DVD line, satiating appetites for more warped B-movie comedy. Following the release of The Film Crew: Hollywood After Dark (June 10) and The Film Crew: Killers From Space (August 7), Shout! Factory announces the third, and perhaps most twisted DVD title yet. The Film Crew: Wild Woman of Wongo, complete with fun bonus features and a limited-edition Film Crew bumper sticker, creeps its way into stores on September 11th for the suggested retail price of $19.99.

Charged with the task of giving all movies their own hilarious commentary tracks, The Film Crew valiantly steps forward to continue tackling the best of the worst. Fans and critics alike are taking notice of the new project, as Ain’t It Cool News scribe Harry Knowles calls the new DVDs “laugh out loud funny,” and the Orlando Weekly states “Nelson, Corbett and Murphy have not lost a beat in the seven years since MST3K.”

This fall, The Film Crew continues their mission by accosting the 1958 tropical fantasy film Wild Women of Wongo with a heavy dose of snark. Wild Women of Wongo features a clan of beautiful untamed maidens from the lush, tropical island of Wongo. These women believe the only men in existence are the ape-like creatures that dwell on the opposite side of the island – making marriage an act of duty rather than of love. Then the women set eyes on a handsome prince from a neighboring island, where all of the men are equally gorgeous! Meanwhile, the beastly men of Wongo, on their way to select their mates, are less than thrilled about their new competition. It all makes The Film Crew’s running commentary look as easy as shooting fish in a barrel.

CIPES AND THE PEOPLE’S THE CONSCIOUS REVOLUTION STARTS SEPT. 18 WITH RELEASE

Pop-Rock-Reggae Debut from Popular Actor/Voiceover Artist Released through KG2 Music, Distributed by Redeye, Tour to Follow in Fall

“We can free the world,” sings Greg Cipes in “Free Me,” the first single from The Conscious Revolution, the debut album
by Cipes and the People, which comes out Sept. 18 on KG2 Music through leading indie, North Carolina-based RedEye Distribution. The band will also tour in the fall after the release.

It is a lofty goal, but one well within the reach of the talented, Florida-born singer/songwriter, an accomplished actor on hit TV shows House, Ghost Whisperer, Without a Trace and Deadwood, as well as a noted voiceover artist for several popular animated series on the Disney Channel and Cartoon Network. He has also surfed professionally.

Growing up, Cipes traveled extensively with his family, spending a great deal of time in the Bahamas, where he heard, and fell in love with, reggae, one of the main influences in his music, along with rock and hip-hop.

KG2 principal Greg Whitman, who produced the album, first met Cipes playing a bonfire down at the beach, joining in on guitar, and eventually coaxing him into the recording studio.

“He’s the face of the Conscious Revolution,” says Whitman, whose KG2 also has interests in bottled water and a clothing line, with a portion of proceeds donated towards charitable causes around the world. “He will open the door for young people to change the way we think, through music, entertainment and the arts.”

“I do everything in the service of God,” says Cipes. “I’m being lifted so I can shed light on others who have the knowledge, experience, heart and drive to unite cultures, religions and races.”

The core eight-person line-up of Cipes and the People has already built an impressive following after being featured in the MTV reality series Twentyfourseven, which also starred KG2 partners Greg Carney and Whitman. The band attracted more than 200k fans to check out their music on MySpace, where they were the site’s #1 unsigned reggae band earlier this year.

“I saw a unique quality and a raw talent in Cipes, somebody trying to grow,” says Whitman about the label’s first signing. “I knew I could reach inside and open him up to become the real artist he could be.”

For Cipes, The Conscious Revolution starts here.

“It’s about letting people know they have the power to create their own reality,” he explains. “When you start implementing that in your life, You will see the change. I just try to do the right thing because everything is connected. And nothing good comes easy.”

“You can never learn enough,” agrees Whitman. “There is always room to grow and get better.”

For Cipes and the People, The Conscious Revolution is just the beginning.

QUEEN CITY'S 'DIRTY SOUTH REVOLUTIONARIES' TO TOUR BEHIND NEW FULL-LENGTH

The Dirty South Revolutionaries' hard-hitting punk antics will be taken on the road in August and September to promote the release of their new album, "Queen City Underground" on New York's Tent City Records.

DSR came together in 2004 from the filth and sultry heat of the city streets of Charlotte, NC. Each member had been in other high-profile local bands based out of the queen city, but none had found their real niche in the scene before the formation of Dirty South Revolutionaries.

From their do-it-yourself punk roots and metal/death influences to their hardcore virtues of integrity and brotherhood, the band presents an eclectic blend of music's most aggressive genres.

Prepare to have your ears assaulted by the sweet sound of "Queen City Underground."

Two Gallants Announce Fall Tour

TWO GALLANTS ANNOUNCE FALL HEADLINING TOUR
THIRD FULL LENGTH ALBUM, TWO GALLANTS, SET TO BE RELEASED SEPTEMBER 25, 2007 ON SADDLE CREEK

Childhood friends since age five, Adam Stephens and Tyson Vogel have sustained longevity that very few people, let alone band members, can claim. Merging intelligent lyrics that often integrate historical references and human experiences beyond their own familiarity, Two Gallants captivate listeners with their unique breed of folk, punk and blues. As part of a pair of releases this year, the self-titled Two Gallants follows The Scenery of Farewell acoustic EP and marks the duo’s third full-length. Well known for their impassioned live sets and lengthy tour schedules, the recording may be the best translation of the duo's distinctive alchemy yet. Recorded in the band’s hometown of San Francisco at the historical Hyde Street Studios, and produced by Alex Newport (Mars Volta, At The Drive In), Two Gallants builds on the foundation laid by their 2004 debut album, The Throes, and their sophomore release in 2006, What the Toll Tells.
