Presenting a Twisted Take on Wild Women of Wongo

Just last month, the brilliantly insane minds behind the cult classic TV show “Mystery Science Theater 3000” (MST3K) thrilled fans with the first installment of their newest venture, The Film Crew. Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett joined forces with Shout! Factory for the new direct-to-DVD line, satiating appetites for more warped B-movie comedy. Following the release of The Film Crew: Hollywood After Dark (June 10) and The Film Crew: Killers From Space (August 7), Shout! Factory announces the third, and perhaps most twisted DVD title yet. The Film Crew: Wild Woman of Wongo, complete with fun bonus features and a limited-edition Film Crew bumper sticker, creeps its way into stores on September 11th for the suggested retail price of $19.99.

This fall, The Film Crew continues their mission by accosting the 1958 tropical fantasy film Wild Women of Wongo with a heavy dose of snark. Wild Women of Wongo features a clan of beautiful untamed maidens from the lush, tropical island of Wongo. These women believe the only men in existence are the ape-like creatures that dwell on the opposite side of the island – making marriage an act of duty rather than of love. Then the women set eyes on a handsome prince from a neighboring island, where all of the men are equally gorgeous! Meanwhile, the beastly men of Wongo, on their way to select their mates, are less than thrilled about their new competition. It all makes The Film Crew’s running commentary look as easy as shooting fish in a barrel.
