Blood Orange (Dev Hynes' most recent musical
nomenclature) returns with a gorgeous video for "Champagne Coast"
off his 2011 release Coastal Grooves. Directed by
Haley Wollens, the video takes the simple concept of girls dancing alone in
their bedroom and transforms their realities into fantasy worlds inspired by
artists Ed Ruscha, Morris Louis, Sonia Delaunay, Helen Frankenthaler with
the help of Berlin-based animator, Andreas 'Nout' Schmidt.
Dev Hynes explains the song and video: "The
song, as with every other piece of music I seem to make, is mostly about
longing. Creating scenarios in your head in regards to an unrequited lover:
plans that will never see fruition. So you're left alone in your digitally
created interior to dance by yourself."

Animation: Andreas 'Nout' Schmidt
