About "Don't Lose Your Cool"
Thank you Internet. Without you we wouldn't have Chocolate Rain, Chat Roulette, OR Lady Gaga. Even worse, we wouldn't have Diamond. By the grace of extensive video chatting and garage band recordings, Diamond was born in bedrooms scattered across Baltimore, Chicago, and Richmond. Almost two years later, they're about to release six-and-a-half brand new songs on their second EP, "Don't Lose Your Cool."
Featuring members from Trapped Under Ice and Down To Nothing, Diamond offers a distinct blend of hyper-melodic and unpredictable alternative rock. Heavily Influenced by 90's alternative music, Skateboarding, and girls, Diamond has the ability to deliver the dark and driving backbone of a Jimmy Eat World song infused with sugary-sweet melodies reminiscent of Blue Album-era Weezer. Frontman Justin Gilman's vocals are easily identified by his swift jumps between loud, belting choruses to a delicate, whispering falsetto, often compared to that of Josh Homme or Jeff Buckley. Frequently joined by other members of the band, it's not rare to see the full band singing in harmony, as demonstrated on the purely a capella title track of "Don't Lose Your Cool."
The band's new EP follows last year's debut, "DMND," and was recorded by gold-record producer Paul Leavitt in Baltimore. Available for digital download on November 29, you can find exclusive song premieres and updates at http://wearedmnd.com and on Facebook at http://facebook.com/DiamondDMND. To date, the band has toured extensively along the East Coast alongside the likes of Samiam, The Swellers, Balance & Composure, Polar Bear Club, Fake Problems, and Fireworks. Catch Diamond on the road supporting Don't Lose Your Cool this winter, with record release shows soon to be announced.
