Atlanta imprint Two Sheds Records releases A Man, Not A Biography from Young Antiques, tomorrow!

"… a minor triumph of ramshackle hooks and underdog charms" – David Pesiner, Spin Magazine Dec '11

The Young Antiques, Atlanta’s longtime purveyors of post-punk power pop with a lyrical core, return with the band’s fourth full-length record, titled A Man, Not a Biography.  In keeping with the band’s oxymoronic name, this release is available primarily on vinyl, with a complementary digital download.

The Young Antiques, founded by mainstays Blake Rainey and Blake Parris in the late ‘90s, have seen numerous shifts in musical tastes and have carved its own path.  Never one to be swayed by the scenesters’ flavor of the month, the band has stayed true to its roots, which is a foundation of ‘70s London punk, ‘80s Minneapolis rock, and dashes of Standells garage rock and George Jones twang thrown in for good measure.

The band affectionately known as The ‘Tiques weathered a series of changes in the drumming position and a two-year hiatus while Rainey focused on a couple of solo records, then returned in 2007 with Kevin Charney behind the kits.  A Man, Not a Biography marks the band’s second record with Charney.  A Man… also marks the band’s return to the Two Sheds label, which also released 2003’s Clockworker, as well as both of Rainey’s solo records.

"… the group's songs are dripping with whiskey-soaked heartbreak and are wrapped up in loose and confessional songcraft driven by a sultry, jangly garage-rock snarl." – Creative Loafing
