The Wailers will be using the tour to bring more
awareness to their quest to help eradicate hunger throughout the world.
They will donate proceeds to the United Nations’ World Food Program (WFP).
Recognized worldwide as the only group still capable of
delivering Bob Marley’s message of peace, love and equality, The Wailers are
the most celebrated reggae group in the world having sold over 250 million
albums worldwide. The band, led by musical director Aston “Family
Barrett, who helped forge the template for reggae with his booming thunderous
bass patterns and beats, will be heading to the US with Duane Stephenson to
start their of their 2011 US Fall Tour. Some of the classic reggae songs
they will be sharing with the audience include, One Love, Buffalo Soldier,
Redemption Song, Three Little Birds, Stir It Up, and Funky Reggae.
“Music is the oxygen and reggae is the heartbeat of the
people. It’s the message of roots culture and reality,” says Fams.
It is for all ages and for past, present and the future so even if the people
can’t feel it musically, they’ll feel it spiritually. Music will go on
forever, and so will the Wailers.”
Duane Stephenson has been described as “reggae’s most
talented sons.” He wrote and recorded “A Step for Mankind,” an exclusive track
which calls for world unity and strength to support the ongoing struggle
against world hunger. Recorded with the legendary Wailers, “A Step for
Mankind” features vocalist Koolant, a fresh talent from the heart of St. Thomas
known for blazing a positive future for reggae music with his work. The track
also introduces Dr. Dre protégé Bishop Lamont, an up-and-coming rapper, whose
magical flow in the song’s breakdown melds beautifully with the distinctive
groove of the Wailers. 100% of the sales of the track on iTunes benefit
WFP.
Duane
has teamed up with Hiho Batik on the creation of FEED AFRICA!
T-shirt. All of the proceeds from the sales of this cotton t-shirt benefit
the WFP. This Hiko Batik is 100% handmade in the batik
tradition, making each one an individual work of art. The sale of one t-shirt
for $40 raises enough money to fee 40 children.
