elbow to soundtrack BBC Olympic coverage. Bespoke composition to be used across network throughout London 2012

The BBC has announced that elbow are to compose a special piece of music for the organisation to be used across all their coverage of the 2012 Olympics. The piece, written by the band and currently in the final stages of production will accompany coverage related to the build up to London 2012 and the events themselves. The band consider this to be a massive honour and lead singer Guy Garvey said:

“We are knocked out to be involved and it's been quite a challenge. We have feelings of real responsibility as we will be the soundtrack to so many images of personal sacrifice and endeavour while the nation roots for and celebrates with Team GB.”

elbow’s remarkable story continues with them currently celebrating their 20th anniversary since forming in Bury, Greater Manchester. Having long been critically acclaimed, they were shot into the limelight with their fourth studio album, ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’, winning a host of Awards including the Mercury Prize 2009 and The BRIT Award for Best British Band in 2010. Their current album, ‘build a rocket boys!’ has seen them cement their place as one of the biggest and most loved bands in Britain today.
