OPENS FOR BATHS ON A STRING OF EAST COAST TOUR DATES THIS DECEMBER
"It's a dreamy tune laden with rich
atmospherics, thick bass, and killer vocals from Davis and Burleson. You
might need another dose of caffeine after listening, though, if only
because you're likely to get hypnotized."
- Prefix
Ki:Theory (multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter,
Joel Burleson) announces new single “I Wanna Run,” as premiered on Prefix,
the first of a string of singles leading up to the release of his album Kitty
Hawk in 2012. “I Wanna Run” is set for release on November 29,
and features the collaboration with his good friend Maura Davis from the widely
adored indie band Denali. The album also features “Kitty Hawk,” a track
that echoes the album title and gets you on your feet and to the
dancefloor. The “I Wanna Run" single package also features
remixes from Nick Warren and German house and techno producer Robert
Babicz, taking Ki:Theory even further into the realm of electronic music,
and thereby further expanding the range of his sound.
The inspiration for the Kitty Hawk album title
came from a beach in Outer Banks, North Carolina where Joel grew up, and
therefore drips with the weight of nostalgia and fond memories, as he
always knew he would eventually make an album about his special place. In
fact, the video for “I Wanna Run” was filmed on this very beach. As
premiered on Consequence of Sound, the video for “I Wanna Run”
captures Joel Burleson and Maura Davis in mysterious black and white
imagery, the sentiment in their voices and lyrics reflected in the shadowy
visual interpretation.

Ki:Theory’s sound is reminiscent of Radiohead, Aphex
Twin, and captures the live raw energy of Nine Inch Nails, but nevertheless
remains entirely unique, combining elements of electronic and
indie/alternative genres in a fresh and poignant manner. His live
performance is energetic, diverse, and inspiring, channeling the emotion
and joy behind his music, and giving himself to the beat.
“Bring[ing] to mind Peter Gabriel, Radiohead or
Nine Inch Nails, but it’s not a clone of anything.”

A classically trained singer, multi-instrumentalist,
and talented producer, Ki:Theory has officially remixed Daft Punk for
Tron: Reconfigured, Sasha, Queens of the Stone Age, Ladytron, UNKLE and Brazilian
Girls, among others. His music is also consistently licensed and has

and Converse advertisements.
"Ki:Theory is as comfortable
producing organic, minimal pop tracks as he is re-configuring
electro bangers."
