Whiskey Avengers, from San Jose, CA, will release “Uncle Sam” the first single this Friday, 9.9.11, off of their forthcoming studio album, Dead Man Rockin’ (due October 25th on Roof Rock Records).
The song and video herald in a new era for Whiskey Avengers, as they take a more serious lyrical approach than their previous releases. “Uncle Sam” portrays an insufferable family member living alone, hoarding his wealth and choosing to exclude his kin from his life.
Through the song and video, “Uncle Sam” delivers a cautionary tale of the path the government and powers-that-be in the United States are taking toward an insular and protective land. While the message is political, the tune builds on the signature rock-steady-reggae sounds that Whiskey Avengers have built their reputation on.
