Shot in Iceland during 1 day in Summer and 1 day in
Winter
In honor of the new video release and her upcoming headline show at Glasslands on September 1st, Johanna made the song “Fishbones” available as a free download HERE. Johanna Cranitch (aka Johanna And The Dusty Floor) said this to Noisey about the video: “This stunningly beautiful video was shot in Iceland over two days, seasons apart—first working with three hours of sunlight on a winter's day, when the moon was full and bright at 4PM, and then working with 23 hours of daylight in summer, when the sun was shining at 2AM.” The video was directed by Jeaneen Lund and shot by Jessie Sara English, you can see it HERE.
Aussie-born songstress Johanna Cranitch self-released her debut Northern Lights last year, which earned comparisons to Kate Bush and St. Vincent. Filter Magazine hailed her “light and airy pop filled with haunting vocals”. Johanna And The Dusty Floor is currently finishing up the second studio album, written in Iceland and Paris over the course of 9 days. It explores a new electronica-infused sound that meshes exceptionally with her crystal clear voice.
Johanna And The Dusty Floor Live:
9/1: Brooklyn, NY @ Glasslands (headlining)
“…tread the ethereal path followed by My Brightest Diamond, St. Vincent and similar mystically inclined folk/rock acts. Johanna and her cohorts back up their sonic sorcery with underlying talent and believable emotion.” – iTunes Store Review
“Cranitch possesses an astonishing range, being able to hit some particularly high notes... leaves you wanting more.” - PopMatters
“Johanna Cranitch sprinkles tender harmonies onto her dusty floor pop project” - WNYC
