TAAKE: Full Album
Stream Available Via The Onion's A.V. Club
Noregs Vaapen, the latest offering of
blackened mayhem from Norway's TAAKE, was unleashed to North
American fans via Candlelight Records
yesterday, November 1. In celebration of its long-anticipated release, a full
stream of the record is currently available via The Onion's A.V. Club at THIS
LOCATION.
Produced by Bjørnar E. Nilsen (Dead To This
World, The Batallion, Helheim, Vulture Industries, etc.), and featuring guest appearances by Nocturno Culto
(Darkthrone), Attila Csihar (Mayhem) and Demonaz (Immortal),
TAAKE again crush ears with new twists on their
trademark black metal sound by
incorporating black 'n' roll grooves, mellotron and banjo. The A.V.
Club called the outing, "an impeccably raw, morbidly melodic
disc that erupts spasmodically into jagged grooves and soaring choruses,"
MetalSucks dubbed it a "strong contender for black
metal album of the year..." and Blistering championed the effort saying,
"Noregs Vaapen should become TAAKE’s staple
release, the product of a band (or one man, rather) finally hitting its creative
stride." Metal Underground shared the sentiment: "Noregs Vaapen is a
solid album that should appease the ravenous black metal hordes," while Metal
Review added, "Noregs Vaapen is filled with engaging songwriting and
surprising left-turns, and brims with an enthusiasm and vitality that was
somewhat lacking in its predecessor."
