"From
the coiled fetal cover imagery by artist Steven R. Gilmore, to
the album’s creeping bio-mechanical opening strains that
sound akin to a transmission from a hell spawned HAM radio, to
its melancholy, downbeat yet undeniably sensual mid-section and
its rousingly theatrical closing symphonies, unDeveloped
is Ogre and Walk at the peak of their creative powers, a primal
yet refined work of odd audio sculpted by dogs who are dedicated
to bucking conventions …and who are apparently even more
blood hungry now than they were in their collective youth."

After a watershed
of positive press following the release of its fourth album unDeveloped
(Metropolis Records, 2011), ohGr,
the mechanized juggernaut spawned by Skinny Puppy’s
Ogre and Mark Walk, will be hitting
the road for the first time since 2008 and touring the Western half
of North America. Kicking off in San Francisco on December 1st at
Bottom of the Hill with support from Left Spine
Down and Violent Tremors, ohGr will be
bringing its diverse and unrelenting oueuvre of material that builds
upon the sturdy foundation of the group’s past and looks toward
an even more intriguing future. Tour dates are below.
A darkly cinematic
opus, Ogre says unDeveloped has a “soft theme of
distorted sexuality.” This is readily apparent in the album’s
opening track, “101,” which is heralded
by an eerie, almost apocalyptic intro. On “101,” Ogre
growls its twisted refrain, “Who do I have to f*ck?”
over a mechanical, whirring and shrieking musical backdrop. He describes
the striking chorus as “as much ‘give it to me’
as it is ‘take it from me.’” The press has picked
up on unDeveloped's brand of dark beauty and lavished huge
amounts of well-deserverd praise. San Francisco Examiner
hails, "Prepare yourself. You’re in for a jaw-dropping
audio-visual treat." OrigiVation Magazine
says, "unDeveloped sounds a bit like
a casual, low-key afterparty for the Apocalypse." Not to be
outdone, IGLOO declares, "Ogre and
Mark Walk are in top form and have put together an album of excellent
aggressive synth pop. unDeveloped is both Ohgr’s
most aggressive and accessible to date."
unDeveloped
was released on May 10, 2011 via Metropolis
Records.
