I AM AWESOME BECAUSE I STILL BUY MUSIC. NEW THIS WEEK: GIFT CERTIFICATES, INURE, EVERYTHING GOES COLD

We here at Storming the Base have been fans of Napster Canada since about 2005. Yes, before Spotify became cool (or uncool if you hate it), before Rdio, before even Lala lived and died was Napster, or Napster Canada if you live up here. Their software was clunky, but their selection was awesome. The setup was similar to what is now considered the standard: pay ten bucks, stream all the music you want all month. We used it to discover all sorts of great music and can truly say we loved the service. But it seems we may have been the only ones, since yesterday we received an email from Napster stating "After seven years of service, Napster Canada will be shutting down all of its services on 12/16/2011." Oh well, another one bites the dust, as they say. So much good music, too little interest. Thank you Napster for all the fun times!

This week's feature is not a new release at all but actually all the new (and old) releases you can handle. From today on, you can buy GIFT CERTIFICATES at Storming the Base. We had several people ask, we always wanted to offer them, and since it's only a month till Xmas, we figured it was about time. They're easy to use, they come in any denomination you want, and they're emailed directly to the person you're gifting. Easy. Easy as streaming music in fact... (maybe that's a bad comparison today). Anyway, GIFT CERTIFICATES are here, hoorah!!

Metropolis Records announced four new releases this week, most notably the new CD and third full-length album from LA-based act Inure. The band has grown a lot since their early days, and the new album The Offering supposedly blows away anything they've done before (actually it doesn't supposedly blow it away, it really does, check out the stream we have online!). We also have Inure's self-released first album on sale for only $9.98, but only until November 30th! Also on Metropolis in February is our friend and general swell-guy Eric Gottesman's band Everything Goes Cold. EGC is releasing an EP on Metro which features remixes by Uberbyte, Alter der Ruine, Be My Enemy, and Aesthetic Perfection. If that's not enough reason to buy it, I would say the cover art alone is worth ten bucks. Seriously.

Metropolis has also picked up two European goth bands for release, first the Italian act The Frozen Autumn which is one of our favourites here at STB, and (less known to us), The Beauty of Gemina. If you know anything about the latter, contact us, we really want to hear about them! Sonic Seducer is releasing a holiday issue complete with a Nightwish cover spot and a DVD that includes appearances from Within Temptation, VNV Nation, Hurts, ASP, Blutengel, Apocalyptica, Tiamat, and more. If your thing is on the noise side of the spectrum, you'll be happy to know that a brand new Esplendor Geometrico is coming soon on both CD and vinyl. Goth on Metropolis, a wicked magazine from Germany, and one of the best noise bands ever with a new album? Yeah, it's a good week.

Now this next band seriously kicks ass: if you're familiar with Jason Novak and his projects Acumen Nation and Dj?Acucrack, you'll be pretty hyped to know that his newest project is a pretty bad-ass metal band called Czar. We've got their new album coming on CD and vinyl, and their first EP, all in a few weeks. Mutant-E is a Spanish label that puts out harsh-EBM and industrial-metal from bands like Inline Sex Terror, Terrorlokaust, Red-Line, and Blood. Many of you have been very interested in this stuff lately, so we've managed to secure some of the limited CDBOX editions from their releases, as well as some back-catalogue titles from Time Of Hate and Blood. Check out the entire selection below.

Trobar de Morte re-release two of their classic albums in double-disc editions. DSBP returns with a new band for the dancefloor called Critical System Error. We have two sales on right now for German editions of popular synthpop bands. Several titles from Colony 5 and Mesh are now available for $13.98. We recently also announced that Chandeen's new album is coming soon: now (and for a limited time only) you can order the album for only $11.98. And we also have Inline Sex Terror's back catalogue up for pre-order, the new album from Orbit Service, the new CD from Suicidal Romance, and a new EP from Roppongi Inc. Project aka R.I.P. Enjoy your weekend!

GIFT CERTIFICATES
Now available from Storming the Base! Gift Certificates are virtual gift cards that you can send to a friend (or enemy) to make sure their fishnet stockings are stuffed with the best in industrial, goth, and EBM this holiday season.
Simply follow the link to our brand new Gift Certificates page, fill in the easy-to-use form, and you're on your way to emailing a virtual gift card. We really wanted to give you guys branded, super-cool industrial looking gift cards, but alas where did the time go?? You get ugly, out-of-the-box, Christmas themes, complete with the most offensive green and red colour-scheme we could find.
But they work.
INURE
THE OFFERING
Over a decade of high-powered performances and devastating recordings have finally brought Los Angeles industrial dance-rockers Inure to Metropolis Records. Founded in 1999 by Adam Moore and Robert Vogel, Inure bring together the classic sounds of industrial music's golden era with today's precision production techniques, aggressive synth lines, and focused beats.

Inure’s third full length release, The Offering, wields an even heavier edge than past efforts. With production by Imperative Reaction's Ted Phelps, Moore has given rise to the band's most diverse and compelling work to date. Adam Moore's vocals weave together the haunted, distant shouts of classic European EBM with the raw aggression of American industrial rock while staunch industrial rhythms fuse with the furious riffs of Adam Vex (Imperative Reaction) on guitar. It's this fusion that truly sets The Offering apart. With special guest appearances from Joe Letz (Combichrist) and Eric Powell (16Volt), The Offering grabs hold from the first dissonant note of “This Death” until it releases you to the icy depths of “Cold."
New Metropolis titles on sale for $14.98!

EVERYTHING GOES COLD
THE TYRANT SUN
Creeping at an unsettlingly slow pace out of that weird eggplant-shaped lamp you got for your mother last St. Patrick's Day comes Everything Goes Cold: Corporate America's answer to the Yugoslavian "Cocoon" slashfic.

Industrial music's most dangerously chewy proliferator, Eric Gottesman, fronts the group. A founding member of Psyclon Nine, Gottesman is also an occasional instrumentalist for every backwoods jug band from Ayria to XP8 to Caustic. Joined by washtub bassist James Webb, spoon-virtuoso Kenny Pardo, and future galactic president Mike Blodgett on the mouth harp, Everything Goes Cold will tear you a new one for letting the dog into the neighbor's yard last night. Why did you do that? He pulled up the entire flower bed, and now we're going to have to offer to pay for it or it'll be all awkward at the block party next week.

Six thousand years after the 2009 full-length vs. General Failure (Bit Riot Records), Everything Goes Cold returns in 2012 with an explosive new EP The Tyrant Sun. Featuring the powerful new single "The Iron Fist of Just Destruction," celebrity guest appearances, and remixes by Aesthetic Perfection, DJ? Acucrack, and more, The Tyrant Sun barrels further down the terrifying rabbit hole of supervillainy than a 14-year-old bald kid with dead parents, mind-control powers, and a destructo-beam powered by the tears of misbegotten children.

Lock down your appliances, put on your safety helmets, and get ready to taste a refreshing peppermint breeze as you await brutal decapitation at the hands of your new robotic refrigerator overlord. Or, you know, whatever's convenient for you.

THE FROZEN AUTUMN
CHIRALITY
The Frozen Autumn is an Italian darkwave band, formed in May 1993, characterized by a blend of melancholic vocals, atmospheric gothic-wave, and 80s-style electropop. Having established a name for itself with the classic albums such as Fragments of Memories (1997) and Emotional Screening Device (2002), The Frozen Autumn now presents its latest masterpiece, Chirality. An artistic collage of seamlessly blended styles and genres, Chirality is a beautiful addition to The Frozen Autumn’s legacy. On Metropolis.

ESPLENDOR GEOMETRICO
DESARROLLOS GEOMETRICOS (CD/LP)
Desarrollos Geométricos (Geometric Developments) is the all new studio-album by legendary Spanish industrial pioneers Esplendor Geométrico. Recorded during 2010 and 2011, a few of its tracks have already been premiered in Esplendor’s latest performances in Europe. Over the years, E.G. has developped a unique and personal style that has influenced many groups and is increasingly moving away from the clichés of  Industrial Music. Arturo Lanz, who heads the group, thinks that they can no longer be labeled as “industrial”. “Our music is deep, powerful, primitive and hypnotic, using electronic instruments and new technologies”, says Lanz. “Desarrollos Geométricos” follows in the steps of their previous and impressive album “Pulsión” (2009), which was recently remixed (Re-Pulsión. 10” – deleted!) by renowned musicians such as Frank Bretschneider or Atom TM. Repetitive and mechanic electronic rhythms are intermingled with recordings of voices, shouts, samples from traditional oriental music, percussions... Some tracks induce a kind of trance and you won’t be able to stop listening them over and over again. The CD version includes nine tracks and the limited vinyl edition six (three of them exclusive for this format).

CZAR
VERTICAL MASS GRAVE
Chicago trio Czar presents its extraordinary debut album, Vertical Mass Grave. A fusion of brain and brawn, power and finesse, brutality and hooks, Vertical Mass Grave is a progressive, aggressive slab of what Outburn Magazine has coined “thinking man’s metal” and the Chicago Reader has described as “a rich diversity of guitar sounds and textures, riveted in place by inventive percussion”. Czar features members of Acumen Nation and DJ? Acucrack, stalwarts of Chicago’s fabled industrial and electronic scenes. Indeed, Czar’s precise rhythms and dark ambience point to these roots, but on Vertical Mass Grave the band detonates the limitations of any genre, opting instead for an anthemic, emotive sound that transcends time and place. Czar pilots freely across the musical map - parallels can be drawn to the machine-like punishment of Helmet or Gojira, the skyward majesty of Jesu or Mastodon, and even the damaged melodies of Failure - but the result is not chaos, it is one cathartic album’s worth of seamlessly crafted songs, an absolute feast for the ears. The follow-up to Czar’s 2009 self-titled EP, Vertical Mass Grave was recorded by Matt Talbott, guitarist/vocalist of Hum, at Great Western Record Recorders (Emery, Open Hand, Adai), then mixed and mastered by the band. The sound is warm and heavy, and begs to be cranked. Vertical Mass Grave is set for a December 6 release on Cracknation, the label founded in 2002 by Czar’s Jason Novak. In addition to releasing music by Czar, Acumen Nation, and DJ? Acucrack, Cracknation has functioned as a production house, creating instrumental tracks for TV shows (True Blood, MTV Music Awards), original scores for videogames (Vogster Entertainment’s Unbound Saga [PSP]), and remixes for the likes of KMFDM, Frontline Assembly, and Prong.

FAIRYDUST 2CD
After the phenomenal success of the recent ‘acoustic’ album ‘Beyond the Woods’. Spanish TROBAR DE MORTE are currently touring Europe with FAUN and IN GOWAN RING and for this occasion present this much requested and long overdue re-release of their amazing debut-album from 2005. ‘Fairydust’ included two tracks from the project’s debut EP ‘Nocturnal Dance of the Dragonfly’ (2004) and was an instant success in the Neo-classical scene. Until today, it remains a stand-out album of the genre! The music of Trobar De Morte is set in Medieval folk with roots of ethnic European songs, classical orchestrations and a strong epic and poetic feeling. Crowned by Lady Morte's voice, the music of Trobar de Morte is unique! This re-release comes completely re-mastered, with new artwork and a full-length Live bonus CD with tracks from WAVE GOTIK TREFFEN 2011+ and ENTREMURALHAS FESTIVAL.

CRITICAL SYSTEM ERROR
DEICIDE
Critical System Error formed in late 2007. In their short time together, Xero and Residue, have proven to be a vital force in the Chicago industrial scene. Angry distorted beats matched with soul reaping vocals always get their crowd ready for a post nuclear sonic assault. Their debut album, "Ctrl/Alt/Deceive" was digitally released in december 2008 and has been released in print february 2009.  CSE has finished their sophomore album "Deicide" which will prove to be Chicago's most blasphemous industrial album to date.  DSBP Records has released this album on cd and digital, on NOVEMBER 25TH and it features a great variety of dark, harsh, industrial, noize, ebm, and without resorting to the same old tricks and sound the current crop of harsh clones are overdoing in the scene.  This album has a more original approach to the harsh sound with a bit more of a harcore/ metal influence in there (without guitars) and the power noise tracks are totally annihilating as well. THESE SONGS ARE MEANT TO STOMP THE DANCE FLOORS!  CSE show they can take on more than one sub-genre and kill with it! NEW CD IS IN LIMITED QUANTITIES SO ORDER IT NOW AND EXPERIENCE THE WAR ON GOD!
CHANDEEN
BLOOD RED SKIES
