NOAH AND THE MEGAFAUNA CELEBRATES DEBUT
LP, ANTHEMS FOR A STATELESS NATION, WITH
HOMETOWN RECORD RELEASE SHOWS
"WHEN YOU'RE DOWN" PREMIERES ON BUZZBANDS
LOS ANGELES, CA, October 14, 2011 - Los Angeles-based indie big band Noah and the MegaFauna will celebrate the October 18 release of their debut LP, Anthems for a Stateless Nation (Silence Breaks), with two hometown performances this month. The official record release show will be held at The Satellite in Silver Lake on Friday, October 21 followed by a special performance at Echo Park Jazz at Lot 1 in Echo Park on Thursday, October 27, a benefit for 826LA, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills. The band's boozy horn-laden shuffle "When You're Down (The Slackjaw's Serenade)," a song that is equal parts New Orleans funeral dirge and The Kinks' "Village Green Preservation Society," premiered last week on BuzzBands.LA and is available for free download: http://buzzbands.la/2011/10/04/premiere-noah-and-the-megafauna-when-youre-down-the-slackjaws-serenade/
Noah and the MegaFauna is the 10-member musical vessel helmed by singer/songwriter/guitarist Noah Lit, the former frontman for revered indie rockers Oliver Future. His new project is a complex amalgamation of dark indie folk, swinging gypsy jazz and big band orchestration threaded together by a series of apocalyptic allegories. Early reviews for the record have been nothing short of glowing. "There's a cornucopia going on here musically, and the songs all demand some close attention be paid to them. The end result is a powerful musical statement, exclaimed Impose Magazine.
Noah and the MegaFauna are just getting started and exciting things are a brewing. Following the LA shows they will return to New York for a series of gigs in mid-November. They are putting the finishing touches on a video for their track "Liquid Modernity (You Can Never Go Home)." The ensemble isn't wasting anytime getting back to making new music either. They are currently working on the score of two films set for release in 2012.
