Charlene Kaye possesses a mesmerizing, one-of-a-kind voice that seamlessly marries throwback soul, orchestral chamber pop and dazzling rock and roll into a sound unmistakably her own.  Charlene has released a highly praised debut LP and gorgeous EP, recorded with talented outfit The Brilliant Eyes, check out a video for LP single "Human," premiered on Huffington Post and watch the old-timey, glamorous and riotous video for "Mad Tom of Bedlam" off the Charlene Kaye & the Brilliant Eyes EP

Press Praise for Charlene Kaye
A few minutes of listening to Kaye’s jazzy vocals, poetic lyrics, and strong song arrangements will convince anyone that she’s chosen exactly the right profession. Her exotic beauty and effortless confidence onstage present a singer/songwriter who seems primed for success…

the singer/songwriter has continued to tour the country, continued to be name-dropped by (and seen alongside) one of cable TV’s biggest musical heartthrobs, and, most impressively, (in the span of five days) convinced her fans to shell out more than my annual salary to fund her next album.

Check out this jazzy, swinging, rocking group for yourself, fronted by the effervescent, golden-throated multi-instrumentalist Kaye.
Awaiting the Flood

A charming and talented emerging NYC chanteuse that mixes jazz, folk and rock. This lady, together with her band The Brilliant Eyes, has been working hard over the past few years and is finally getting noticed by a growing local audience. An artist on the rise.
Deli NYC

It's not every artist who can extend their repertoire from centuries-old folk tunes to a Justin Bieber cover...But New York-based Charlene Kaye has no problem making that leap. It's all about dynamics here, as Kaye and Co. start off smooth and slinky, building to an explosive climax of abandon and musical madness."
The Atlantic

NYC-based Charlene Kaye & the Brilliant Eyes jazz it up on their debut EP, taking roots-folkie Jolie Holland’s version as their backbone; the result is something that’s a little bit rockabilly and a little bit Western swing. A music video partially set in Coney Island helps amp up the retro vibe.
NBC New York

The album's best described as a balancing act of sound. The songs don't allow the listener to rest too long in either the saucy or wistful, the warm or the cold... And it's just that kind of rhythm of change that keeps the savvy listener suspended, waiting, excited.
Metro Times

Take the heady, theatric dressing-ups of Rufus Wainwright’s baroque-pop, the sly, swing-able, indie-jazz of Feist with Kaye’s own earnest folk-punch and you find her blend of classical poignancy with pop’s whimsy...mystic, absurd, and elastic.
Real Detroit

Kaye's electrifying voice and her band's folk-tinged indie-pop = an eclectic night, torch-songs and unfettered rock alike.
Fee's List

Kaye's strong vocals rise and soar, wispy at the edges, but burning sun-fire at their thickest exertion...[Things... is] a blending of perfect balance, showing strength in arrangement and ambiance.

Who is Charlene Kaye?
Close your eyes and listen. You'll hear throwback soul, orchestral chamber pop, and dazzling rock and roll, all tied together with the striking, one of a kind voice that belongs to Charlene Kaye. The daughter of two church singers, Kaye was trained from the age of five at classical piano and self-taught at the guitar. Born in Hawaii, raised in Arizona, Singapore, Hong Kong — and with a college degree from the University of Michigan — her music is as eclectic as it is universal. Equally inspired by pop icons such as Blondie and Nina Simone as well as current trailblazers Sufjan Stevens, Regina Spektor and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, her music is a mix of generations and genres, classic with a contemporary edge, fitting with the times yet unmistakably timeless. With her talented five-piece b and, the Brilliant Eyes, beside her, Kaye delivers the force of her powerful and alluring vocals, delivering catchy pop with searing vulnerability, gentle folk alongside growling rock, with her distinct charm and magnetic stage presence tying it all together.

Hailed as “an indie spirit headed for greatness” (the Michigan Daily), she continues to conquer audiences in her home base of New York and beyond, picking up steam even before she leaves the ground. Her single “Dress and Tie” featuring Glee star Darren Criss reached #140 on the iTunes charts the day of its release, and the video has accumulated nearly 200,000 views on YouTube since its March release. She has also shared the stage with acts such as Minus the Bear, Big Boi, Jenny Owen Youngs, and Hank and Cupcakes. She will record her highly anticipated sophomore LP this year.
