"If Bathgate has mastered one thing in his young and enormously promising career, it's the art of distilling alienation into bruised-sounding beauty." - NPR

Michigan-based singer-songwriter Chris Bathgate has returned to the road for a 22-date fall tour supporting Americana artist Adam Aracuagi. This tour will include a special one-off performance in NYC at this year's CMJ Music Marathon. Following a year of touring, several hometown festival appearances, and a NPR Tiny Desk Concert, he continues to support his acclaimed full length release, Salt Year. Bathgate is also putting the finishing touches on his latest and greenest output, an EP entitled Old Factory with a bar of soap and download code acting as the physical product. More details on the release to come.

Bathgate has received national acclaim since being signed to Quite Scientific Records (Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Cotton Jones) in 2007, following years of self-releasing his own albums. Salt Year was featured in NPR Listeners Poll as "Best Of The Year (So Far)" while My Old Kentuky Blog proclaimed it as "without a doubt, the first great folk record of 2011." Originating from a period of personal tumult in his life Salt Year was the most difficult album he has made to date and the singer explains why in an interview and live performance at NPR's World Cafe Session.

After a result of several dead vans and many missed shows, Bathgate launched a successful Kickstarter campaign in hopes of funding a new tour van complete with a biodiesel conversion. He traded donations for exclusive songs and EPs, Salt Year test pressings, the original framed artwork piece that became the cover of A Cork Tale Wake - along with many other fun bits and pieces. Bathgate surpassed his goal by about $3,000 and now tours extensively in an environmentally friendly van.
