Big Harp Tour Kicks Off Tonight In Baton Rouge; Debut Album White Hat Out Now On Saddle Creek

Big Harp Tour Kicks Off Tonight In Baton Rouge
Debut Album White Hat Out Now On Saddle Creek
Big Harp kicks off their tour with labelmate Maria Taylor tonight in Baton Rouge. The husband and wife duo is touring in support of their new album White Hat out now on Saddle Creek. The tour marks Big Harp’s first-ever shows in the Southwest, Pacific Northwest and includes a hometown show at the Echo.
Recorded by Rilo Kiley’s Pierre de Reeder, the 11 songs on White Hat draw inspiration from the classic country and folk of Chris Senseneyʼs childhood and are anchored by Stefanie Drootinʼs rock-solid rhythms and indie-punk roots, White Hat contains echoes of artists from Townes Van Zandt to Nick Cave, Willie Nelson to Captain Beefheart. PopMatters says "...there are moments of crystalline beauty: the lilting guitars of “Everybody Pays”, the rickety, out-of-control guitars that caterwaul through “Nadine”, the country and western swing of “Goodbye Crazy City” and the salsa mixture that “Out in the Field” adds as texture." The recordings are raw and un-fussed over, with the spirited energy and honest emotion of live performance. Performer Magazine raved, “Big Harp has flexed their storytelling muscles on this stellar debut – and their story is one of which you should take notice."
