SILVERCHAIR SWEEP ARIA'S (Australian Grammy's) TO BECOME ALL TIME AWARD LEADERS IN ARIA HISTORY WITH 19 TOTAL AWARDS!
and ANNOUNCE NOVEMBER/DECEMBER US TOUR.
Silverchair swept the 2007 ARIA Awards in Sydney last night. They won five ARIA's - more than any other artist this year. Most significantly the band took out the prestigious Album Of The Year award for their acclaimed Young Modern. While they've had five chart topping albums over their career this was actually the first time that any Silverchair release has received that honor.
They received the following awards:
Album Of The Year
Best Group
Single Of The Year
Best Rock Album
Highest Selling Single
This extraordinary achievement makes Silverchair the most successful artist in the entire history of the ARIA Awards. Last night's haul took the band's career tally to 19 eclipsing John Farnham's previous record of 18 career gongs. Silverchair opened the Awards telecast with a memorable performance of "Straight Lines" and set the tone for a very special night that cemented Silverchair in their rightful place as one of the most acclaimed and successful bands in Australian music history
The ARIA's capped the busiest few months of the band's entire career. They have toured non-stop over the last 16 weeks racking up nearly 60 shows around the world including international festival appearances and their hugely successful "Across The Great Divide" tour with co-headliners, Powderfinger. NAPALM RECORDS NEWS
HOLLENTHON Returns!
Finally, six years after With Vilest Of Worms To Dwell, HOLLENTHON returns. Currently, the band, centered around vocalist/guitarist Martin Schirenc, is recording the new tracks in Schirenc's very own studio. The new material is much heavier, but on the other hand, also contains bombastic orchestral and ethnic elements for which Hollenthon is known. A cover version of The Tea Party and artwork by Ralph Manfreda (Belphegor) complete this exciting and long-overdue package.
A release and European tour is scheduled for March/April 08.
TYR - New Album in 2008
ThIS Viking Metal band from the Faroe Islands has undoubtedly won over myriad new fans during their 2007 tour with AMON AMARTH, as was the case following their phenomenal appearance at Wacken Open Air. The gang, led by vocalist Heri Joensen, is currently concentrating on the songwriting for the next album. Once again, Jacob Hansen, who also was responsible for the sound of Ragnarok, will produce the album. Like in the past, TYR’s latest songs will contain genuine, traditional Scandinavian music combined with crushing Metal. A tentative release date is scheduled for April 08. Hail to the hammer!
MIDNATTSOL - Studio News
The German-Norwegian formation is currently running a recording marathon to finish the follow-up to "Where The Twilight Dwells.“ Camren Elise Espenaes will once again record her vocals in Mastersound Studios (LEAVES´EYES, ELIS). The rest will be recorded with THE VISION BLEAK mastermind Markus Stock at Klangschmiede E Studios. Tue Madsen (SIRENIA), one of Europe´s leading sound engineers, and the infamous Finnvox studios will guarantee a great production.
Nordlys will hit the streets in March 08.
Welcome to Napalm - POWERQUEST
Napalm Records has signed POWERQUEST from the UK. Formed in 2001, the band plays, just as the name suggests, Power Metal and will surely appeal to fans of DRAGONFORCE or Rhapsody. By the end of October, POWERQUEST will begin recording and should complete the new album by December. The album's release is scheduled for Spring 2008.
ASMEGIN News
ASMEGIN are currently busy in the studio, recording new material. The Norwegians were not unproductive in the last years, and thus Tusind tabte Sjæles Kakofoni ("Cacophony of a thousand lost souls") will be a double-concept album that took the band over a year for the lyrics alone. While the likeable folk elements will be kept strong, the new album will also present a darker atmosphere and some progressive elements.
The release of Tusind tabte Sjæles Kakofoni is planned for mid 2008.

The Yarrows releasing debut album, Plum, on Dec. 18!
Empyrean Records is pleased to bring you Plum, the debut LP from The Yarrows. The album will release on December 18th, 2007. It’s a sublime record, one that trucks in the same emotional territory mined by tindersticks and the National while sounding wholly unique.
The Yarrows’ Plum comes on with a subtlety that makes the album an unlikely debut. This is the type of record that becomes indelible, song-driven and human; Plum is a musical atmosphere as textured and psychological as the songs themselves, filled with full-blooded and naked emotionalism that never descends into melodrama.
Formed in an abandoned lodge in hundreds of acres of woods in western New Jersey, the Yarrows are fronted by brothers Matt & Pierce Backes, with Scott Barcalow (bass/vocals, NYC) and Jack Firneno (drums, Philadelphia). The brothers grew up with Scott and production adviser Garris Shipon (Philadelphia), and while this is the first project to bring all four together in a focused way, they have been making music together most of their lives. Jack came into the band like the missing piece and fit in this tight bunch like he’d been there forever.
The band’s process is informed by the possibilities and pitfalls of working as a rock band. In this debut, The Yarrows are trying to make a record that isn’t cool or stupid. Plum might give up its treasures slowly, deepening a little on every spin. There are no obvious hooks, no singles and there’s nothing saccharine about it. From the stark snare hits that begin the opening track to the undulating then burning guitars of the closer, Plum sets out a challenging and gorgeous array of sounds, all driven by ten melodic, structurally inventive, and lyrically hypnotic songs.

What's new in the world of dance music
STRICTLY RHYTHM IS BACK!!
Think soul, think Motown. Think jazz, think Blue Note. Think house, think Strictly Rhythm. Strictly Rhythm, the world’s most celebrated house music label, is back and that means both classic and new releases!
Strictly Rhythm has a vibrant history and has had a major influence on the development of house music and the careers of world famous artists such as Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Armand Van Helden, Kenny Dope, Todd Terry, Louie Vega and Josh Wink – who are still known today as the elite of house music.
Strictly is amped to do what they do best, which is to get new exhilarating tracks out to house music fans. Their first all-new release features several of the label’s cherished old friends – Todd Terry, Kenny Dope and DJ Sneak, who have combined as the Todd Terry All Stars for the irresistibly catchy “Get Down” featuring the talented Tara McDonald on vocals. Strictly also has the single, “April” and album, “Beyond Elements” from the one and only Osunlade. The label is also thrilled to be teaming up with one of the brightest new talents in dance music, Quentin Harris, who’s creating a new EP and album for Strictly.
Masters at Work, better known as MAW to their mass of devoted fans, consists of world famous duo Louie Vega and Kenny Dope. Both originating from New York, the duo’s remix discography is an incredible catalogue of work, including mainstream artists from Madonna to Michael Jackson. As key producers of Strictly Rhythm, the duo underwent tough calls to select absolutely essential tracks for the compilation, including Barbara Tucker’s ‘I get lifted’ and ‘Beautiful People’. The most sought after duo came together to produce one unforgettable project.
Generating support from those at the very top of the DJ food chain, Marlon D introduces three tracks strong enough to warrant a solo release. The irreverent 'Jesus Creates Sound' is a drum lead affair, incorporating frenetic hi-hats and cymbal clashes, eerie effects and resulting in a heads-down stomper of a track. 'Deep Spiritual Journey' is, as the name suggests, deep, deep, deep. 'Dance 2 Da Beat' is without a doubt the most upbeat of the trio and has already proved to be a hit amongst the big name DJ's. With a bouncin' bass line and an equally bouncy vocal, this is set to prove that Marlon D is certainly one to watch.
Tiefschwarz, the uber-cool German producer DJs, are famed for their innovative productions and their ability to bring cutting edge electronic music to the mainstream without compromising their integrity. Alexander and Sebastian Schwarz, brothers and music lovers, dug deep to contribute gritty, electronic, stripped-down-sound tracks for the compilation. Their addiction to deep House is apparent in their selections. Opening with a sinister sounding ‘This Beat is Over’ while the mix goes on to highlight The Untouchables ‘Dance to the Rhythm’ and ‘Trippin’. Also includes Hardrive’s ‘Deep Inside’ and Aly-Us’ “Follow Me.’
UK SOUL BAND THABANI MAKE THEIR FIRST US APPEARANCE
Hailing from West London, Thabani, the Roots-Soul collective combine Soul, Afro and Groove influences to their potent mix of brilliant front line tunes with a modern contemporary edge.
Led by charismatic Zimbabwean singer and songwriter Tee Nyoni, together with a tight musical ensemble of brass, guitar, drums, African percussion and backing vocals, Thabani produce a classic 'Soulful Wall Of Sound.” Nyoni combines the energy of a young James Brown, the voice of Marvin Gaye and the songwriting influences of Curtis Mayfield and Fela Kuti!
Thabani is about to kick off their first tour of the US with four sets in New York City!!

NECTAR VOL. 2 | AGAVE RECORDS | RELEASED: OCTOBER 16, 2007
A rising house label, Agave Records, born out of the depths of the breaks capital of the world, Orlando, Florida, has stepped up to the plate with Chicago legend house DJ Johnny Fiasco to produce what is to be this year’s premier house compilation, Nectar Vol. 2. Referred to by many in the House community as a “DJ of DJ’s,” Johnny Fiasco’s new album, Nectar Vol. 2, is filled with fresh, sexy grooves and cool, subtle Latin jazz beats that will rock the house party or the iPod.
For Nectar Vol. 2, careful selection and tedious mixing have brought about a technical marvel sure to please club heads and professionals alike. Johnny Fiasco sat down with Agave’s A&R team to devise a track listing for Nectar Vol. 2 that serves both the chug and the bump. Artists such as Ian Pooley, The Sound Republic, Inland Knights, Joey Youngman and Vernon & Decosta have all found their way onto the second Nectar. Silk smoking jacket and monogrammed slippers at the ready! The Playboy Playmates have arrived, the place is swarming with sexy Bunnies, and it’s time to party along to a package of the sexiest dance music since disco was invented. Bob Sinclar is playing live at the Playboy Mansion.

Grammy Award winning, Masters At Work main man and house pioneer, ‘Little’ Louie Vega, steps up to the platters to mix the second installment of NRK’s Back In The Box series. Honing his skills on the NY club circuit in the mid-80s, Vega collaborated with Kenny “Dope” Gonzales for the Masters At Work project that has since gone on to spawn countless dance music “moments” (“I Can’t Get No Sleep”, “Work”, “To Be In Love”), and helped create and shape the house music sound as we know it. Quite simply, Vega has earned his stripes, and continues to win Grammy Awards, produce club hits, multi-instrumentation album projects, and DJ the world over.
Vega lays down a memory evoking 2 ½ hour mix over two CDs, giving stone cold classics a chance to shoulders rub with those tracks that worked it for Vega back in the day, but didn't necessarily break through to "classic" status. The track list reads like a "who's who" of dance history; Todd Terry, Blaze, Black Science Orchestra, Eric Kupper, Romanthony, Ralphie Rosario, Michael Watford....even Norman Cook makes a surprise entry under his Mighty Dub Katz guise!
So sit back and enjoy this romp down memory lane...

LEWIS & CLARKE w/ Tunng this Wednesday @ Mercury Lounge!
"The eight tracks here are protracted and whisper-quiet yet engaging, with a constant tug of sorrow that satisfies..Rogai exhales poignant lyrics and juggles elegant instrumentation with a revolving cast that includes members of Man Man and Rachel's..Fans of Iron & Wine and ilk would be wise to prick up their ears." - Harp Magazine
"Eight tracks of delicate beauty" - Pitchforkmedia.com
"The melodies are exquisite, as delivered by an impressive array of strings, percussion, and Rogai’s own direct, unforced vocals...This is a band that more than deserves its growing acclaim." - Pop Matters
"Rogai has a gift for speaking plainly while tonguing poetry, and his meditations on life cycles and pastoral philosophy blossom and collapse with organic grace...Contributions from Man Man, Rachel's and Hella might draw people in to Holy Birth, but Rogai's cloudless crystalline vision will keep them." - A.V. Club (The Onion)
The songs of Lewis & Clarke are medicinal, meditative, and trance-inducing. They wind along lengthy lines of chamber folk, full of bows and bells, aphorisms and dreamy dreams. Both literally and figuratively, Blasts of Holy Birth is about being born and re-born.
Eve Miller and Russell Higbee join the folds of nylon-string guitar, harp, keyboard, horns, strings, and drums, with Lou Rogai, the voice and vision, with arms of friends draped in the name Lewis & Clarke.
Rogai is a pastoralist, a rat-race expatriate, an old-soul musician who chose to live more deliberately with his family under the eaves of mountain trees in Pennsylvania's Delaware Water Gap. It is a community distant to the big city's pace, but close enough for gigs and recording sessions with his city-folk colleagues. Among them are Russell Higbee (harp, keys) of Man Man and Eve Miller of Rachel's (cello) who, too, embrace the exploration of sinewy eastern melody and unaffected compassion called Lewis & Clarke.
"A profound work of earthy, orchestrated new-folk, Blasts Of Holy Birth raises the bar for both listeners and players in search of evolution in roots-oriented music. Meshing gorgeously hushed melodies and plucked guitars with baroque string arrangements and ethereal pulses and surges, Lewis & Clarke ( a.k.a. Del. Water Gap's Lou Rogai) has crafted a transcendent work of epic proportions. Themed around the birthing experience, the album moves in tidal breaths through meditative and hazy soundscapes, delicate minimalism, and goose bump inducing chamber sections. An expose of grace, beauty, peril, triumph, and the interconnectivity of all things - musically and lyrically, it's really that good." - Impose Magazine
In Delaware Water Gap, one can tune in to vibrations that only exist in certain areas. It is here that Rogai, with his family, took to nest in an antiquated dwelling within earshot of an historic jazz landmark: tuned in, turned on, and just far enough away from the rattle of the rest of the world.
Blasts of Holy Birth was written not with the usual pen-in-hand love-lost scribbles that song scribes commonly sing; here are celebrations, hand-in-hand, of life's travails and joys!
Lewis & Clarke songs are long and unhurried life lessons, believed and still unveiling truths, to himself and his son, who was months away from LIFE: Day One while this album was being composed. The only piece here not written by Rogai, "Comfort Inn", is by his friend, Aaron Ross, the CA mountain dweller and singer of Hella. Ross was awaiting the birth of his daughter during same time that Rogai expected his son, and so it only fit that they share in each other's song.
Over the last few years, Lewis & Clarke have toured and performed with Isobel Campbell (Belle & Sebastian), Blur, Robyn Hitchcock, Joan of Arc, Okkervil River, Mi & L'au, The Black Swans and other contemporaries.
And as is the case with good artists and smart adults, it is through big change and artistic redemption that we re-learn who we really are. And as the meat of life is inseparable from the weight of song, Lewis & Clarke's heavy-duty beauty, Blasts of Holy Birth, is born.
More praise:
"Lewis & Clarke has carved out its own niche thanks to the lush arrangements of its debut, 2005's "Bare Bones and Branches." - Billboard Magazine
"A whisper of an album, lovely without being precious, moody without being beleaguering." - No Depression
"Lou Rogai, who records under the name Lewis & Clarke, artfully mixes his multi-layered vocal tracks with finger-picked acoustic guitar, Hammond organ, Rhodes piano, and lap steel." - Acoustic Guitar World
"A gifted newcomer" - Magnet
"The mystical side of (Lewis and Clarke) is heightening...thoughtful, lightly philosophical, exploratory folk with a rustic, natural-world mood." - Erasing Clouds
"Elements of eastern instrumentation blend with acoustic plucking, sounding at once exotic and accessible, ala Macha on morphine" - Stereogum
"A set of melodies that achieve a haunting beauty, perhaps most defined by its cohesiveness; it is more than a collection of songs, each listen unearths a new layer." - Lost At Sea
"This is an album you simply must own." - Smother.net
"A pure music experience that whispers half-remembered truths to the soul, as Rogai easily soars above so-called "acid folk"/"freak folk" conventions by exhibiting amazing clarity and a sense of spaciousness in his songs... striking in its authenticity and ability to convey empathy and even inspiration. It is gentle and wild, an abundant feast of simple fare that nourishes the heart." - The Morning Call
"Full of gentle drones of bowed cello(courtesy of former Rachels member Eve Miller), ripples of plucked harp strings (by Russell Higbee of Man Man), slow-motion cascades of horns and synths, and existential rhythms of tabla and trap-kit snare, all tied together in patient, sophisticated arrangements that highlight Rogai's spiritually inquisitive lyrics and quietly demonstrative vocals." - Athens Flagpole
"Kaleidoscopic layering over sophisticated lines, the rosy folk songs within are tasteful, only bordering on sentimental, and graciously free of pretense...reverent, almost hymnal in quality." - The Aquarian Weekly
"An intelligent revelatory light into the heart of life and love" - Detroit Metro Times

She Wants Revenge Tonight in NYC: Remaining tour dates...
Prepare to get your sultry sway on this coming Monday when Justin Warfield and musical partner Adam 12 shall be performing live their new material from the album This Is Forever (Geffen) along with of course, songs from the old that made you fall in love with them in the first place.
After a sold out national tour this summer and fall, raving reviews, crazed fans and critics being converted who are now praising the electronic indie group after witnessing them live with a full band and seeing what they’re really made of. This album is sheer proof that this band has truly evolved since their spectacular debut and this is your chance to finally see them for yourselves.
“This Is Forever” Oct 9th (Geffen) "Someone’s gonna fall in love in here tonight." - Just Begun by S.W.R This Is Forever continues where their self-titled debut left off, a figurative morning after to the dance of the night before. Still continuing on the same path of creating thought provoking and emotional dance music, the album deals in the familiar themes of love, loss, and betrayal, yet somehow even darker in tone, with beats that bang even harder, and if it's possible, even catchier songs...a tall feat, but one they welcomed with open arms. With no intention of playing it safe this time out, the guys have crafted a challenging and compelling album that they are proud to present to their loyal fans and the uninitiated alike.
Much like their Electronic Rock fore-fathers; Dave Gahan, Robert Smith, Morrissey, and Ian Curtis had done so before, She Wants Revenge offered a voice and a rhythm for scorned lovers, bored housewives, jaded hipsters, gender-benders and club-kids across the nation, all seductively swaying their hips and pouting along to the undeniably catchy tunes such as True Romance, What I Want, These Things, Out of Control and the instant cross over hit Tear You Apart.
This show will be their third to last last on the east coast before they head back west toward their home of Los Angeles. Adam 12 shall continue to DJ and write, with numerous projects in the pipeline. The same goes for frontman Justin who will also be working on various things when he returns; but shall mostly be sharing dipers duties with wife Stefanie King Warfield and cradling his new baby son Bowie Jonah who was born just last week! Congrats Justin, and thanks for bringing to the world two amazing “collaborations” this year. We salute you!

At the top of the world, there is a job like no other. A job to die for…BUCKLE IN FOR AN ADRENALINE-PUMPING RIDE ON ONE OF THE WORLD’S MOST DANGEROUS ROADS!
It’s the most perilous road in the world -- a strip of ice built on permafrost and frozen lakes that connects remote billion-dollar mining outposts in northern Canada with civilization 300 miles away. Open for only two months a year, ten thousand loads, some weighing as much as 22 tons, will travel over this highway in an urgent race to provide critical supplies to the camps before the ice melts. ICE ROAD TRUCKERS, the smash series from The History Channel®, follows the competition and camaraderie of six courageous truckers over a season on the ice road, as they brave white-outs, thin ice, and the deadly cold to perform one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.
Meet Hugh, Rick, Alex, Jay, T.J and Drew – the ice road truckers. A charismatic and rag-tag fraternity, they’re bound to each other by the knowledge that only 28 inches of frozen water, years of experience and quick reflexes separate them from certain doom. Yet, they all know the draw: a year’s worth of salary and bragging rights in just two months. Coined by many as a “dash for cash,”, each trucker tried to rack up as many runs as possible – at $2000 per trip – in the eight short weeks before the road melts away. ICE ROAD TRUCKERS: THE COMPLETE SEASON ONE delivers home audiences to the frozen, white north for an entire perilous ice road season: from the construction of this massive frozen highway to the arrival and preparation of the truck fleet; from the first enthusiastic runs to the risky final days when the highway grows unreliable; from deep-winter breakdowns to isolation and boredom on the road.

JUNE Gears Up for The Victory Tour with BAYSIDE!!
"[Make It Blur] is the kind of magical set that wills you to play it time and time again before you come close to exhausting all its possibilities. Fabulous." - All Music Guide
"Between the production polish and the promise of a departure into more seasoned rock terrotory, June's sophomore effort seems awfully safe on paper. But thanks to its airtight execution, Make It Blur consistently counts for more then the sum of its parts... Crushworthy!" - Alternative Press
"June has spawned a new sound, one that deviates from the norm of today's rough around the edges emo rock." - Outburn
Currently preparing for almost six weeks of solid touring as one of the marquee acts on The Victory Tour, Chi-town's JUNE have been taking their infectiously-melodic-laden-indie rock on the road for the Summer in support of their latest Victory album Make It Blur. Just days away from the kick-off date of Oct. 25th in Baltimore, Maryland, June will be traipsing across the US with labelmates (and fellow Reybee clients) Bayside and The Sleeping, A Day to Remember, and Driverside Impact. (tour dates below)
Make It Blur is a marked departure from the band's debut album, 2005's If You Speak Any Faster. With Marc McClusky (Hit the Lights, Powerspace) in the producer's chair, the band set out to create their opus, the album they'd be incredibly proud of. And Make It Blur is just that - an album they're incredibly proud of. From the orchestral oomph of the opening track "No Time For Sense" to the acoustic-led intricate guitar work of "Finally" to the piano-laden pop gem "I'd Lose Myself", Make It Blur is an album that bypasses transition and lands them in the winner's seat. With each of the 12 tracks a standout, June has created a cohesive album that shows incredible growth and truly presents the band as seasoned musicians not afraid to show their really tight melodic edge while demonstrating their musical chops at the same time. "We definitely drew from our influences much more on this record," says drummer Mark Sutor. "It has a lot more of a pop feel. Influences range from Maroon 5, Third Eye Blind, Foo Fighters, Justin Timberlake, etc. I think the fans are going to love the songs because I feel like we have matured a lot more in-between the last record and this one."
Make It Blur is the sound of a band on the verge of hugeness... With this album, their potential to break through in a big way isn't blurry... It's crystal clear.

Northern State's Single "Better Already" on Grey's Anatomy/ US Tour With Tegan and Sara In Support of 'Can I Keep This Pen?' starts Oct. 29 in L.A.
Video for “Better Already”: http://www.ipecac.com/northern_state/
The Onion (A.V. Club) - The group's defiantly loose new disc once again kicks it independent-style, with a sparkling
new set that augments signature old-school flows and girlish good humor with electro and new-wave flourishes.
Entertainment Weekly A- : Northern State has crafted a legitimately trilling third album. It's an audacious leap forward,
and one that should finally earn them the unimaginable: respect
Spin *** 3 Stars: Energetic political jams such as "Cold War" make it easy to forget that it's been three years since
anyone heard from Le Tigre
Alternative Press *** 3 1/2 Stars: “The former partners in rhyme frequently drop the mics to explore everything from
pointy-shoed new wave to soft flutter electro-rock...the results are unexpected and lethal”
The ladies of Northern State are thrilled that their song "Better Already" was chosen to lead off last week's episode
of 'Grey's Anatomy'. Northern State are huge fans of the show and have been obsessively watching season 2 on DVD in
the back of their van while on tour in Canada with Tegan and Sara. According to Spero, " We are such huge fans of the
show that we refuse to watch the episode featuring our song because we don't want it to give away any plotlines. We just
finished season 2 on Dvd. We now need to get through all of season 3 on our US tour and THEN..and ONLY THEN..will
we watch the episode featuring "Better Already". It was a tough decision but Dr. Potash (aka Hesta Prynn), Dr. Goodmark
(aka Sprout) and I all agreed this was the best course of action given the circumstances."

DROID GUITARIST JAMIE TEISSERE SPEAKS OUT ON KORN SCUFFLE…NEW VIDEO FOR “FUELED BY HATE” ON HEADBANGER’S BALL, FUEL TV, AND MORE!!!
Contrary to the rumors that Droid has left Korn’s "Bi#%h! We Have A Problem" tour, Droid continues to destroy the stage, and Droid guitarist Jamie Teissere breaks the silence to clear the air about rumors of Droid being sent home.
“The rumors are not true,” says Jaime, “We are on our way to Tucson, Arizona as we speak and will continue until the end of the tour.”
Munky could not be reached for comment, but label representative Christy Priske had this to say: “The band and label bond is as strong as ever. The band has not been asked to leave the tour. Jamie & Munky have been best friends for years and the reported fight they got in was nothing more than a drunken scuffle that ended in apologies. All is well in both camps and Droid are moving forward to finish the tour.”
Droid are also pleased to announce that their brand-new video for the single “Fueled By Hate” can be seen on MTV2’s Headbanger’s Ball as well as the Headbanger’s Blog (available here: http://headbangersblog.mtv.com/2007/10/19/video-premiere-droid-fueled-by-hate-even-before-korn-punch-up/) . GORILLAZ: D-SIDES U.S. Release November 20
D-Sides, an assortment of B-sides from Gorillaz' multi-platinum second album Demon Days, early demos and previously unreleased tracks compiled together for the first time, has been confirmed for a November 20 U.S. release on Virgin Records.
D-Sides highlights include "Hong Kong," the lush and lovely track recorded by Gorillaz for Warchild and the surprise hit of last year's Demon Days Live show (given an exclusive refit here with added strings), the dubbed-out collaboration with The Bees, "Bill Murray," and the apocalyptic scum-pop of "We Are Happy Landfill." "Stop The Dams" is another collaboration, this time with the Sugarcubes' Einar Orn, protesting against dam building in Iceland's wilderness. Demos "People" (which later became Demon Days single "DARE") and "Don't Get Lost in Heaven" give a sneak peek into the band's creative process, while the Mandarin version of "Dirty Harry" provides an insight into how Gorillaz might sound if they'd been born east of the Yangtze instead of deep in the wilds of Essex, while D-Sides' bonus CD of remixes includes reworkings by DFA, Junior Sanchez and Hot Chip.
A special edition of D-Sides will be available in a debossed glossy dual box, and will include two exclusive Jamie Hewlett prints, a collection of Gorillaz badges, stickers and a "Choose Pazuzu" patch. The track listing will be the same as the standard edition.
D-Sides follows the immensely popular G-Sides, a collection of B-sides and rarities from the band's debut album, Gorillaz.

About Kaiju Big Battel
Kaiju Big Battel is a modern conflict of epic proportions. Planet Earth is under threat: scattered throughout the galaxy is a monstrous mob of maniacal villains, menacing alien beasts, and giant, city-crushing monsters that are waging war against one another. Presiding over this mayhem is the Kaiju Commissioner, an enigmatic human-arbiter appointed by a clandestine cadre of world leaders to regulate Kaiju rage. If the Kaiju Commissioner doesn’t do his job perfectly the entire world could get caught in the crossfire.
Currently, the Kaiju Universe maintains an active roster of approximately 50 monsters, including a factory-worker-turned-soup-can called Kung-Fu Chicken Noodle, a dirty hare-sage dubbed Dusto Bunny, a loser sea beast known as Call-Me-Kevin, and a despicable, square-headed mad scientist known as Dr. Cube. In addition to the Kaiju Commissioner, a few privileged humans also get a piece of the action, including Referee Jingi, a mustachioed official who enforces fairness and civility in the ring, Davio Salbino, an urban renewal expert who reconstructs crumbled cityscapes between Battels, and one tuxedo-wearing, mouth-running MC, Louden Noxious.
About Studio Kaiju
Studio Kaiju, an independent Boston-based performance and media group, is the creator of Kaiju Big Battel, the world's only live monster mayhem spectacle. Producer of consistently sold-out events, Studio Kaiju is best known for its live tournament-style performances, which are a character driven, tongue-in-cheek hybrid of American pro-wrestling, Japanese monster-movies, and lowbrow pop-culture. These multi-media events, complete with video installations, monster-movie props, a towering "Danger Cage", and crushable miniature cityscape, can also be enjoyed from a safe distance thanks to "Kaiju Big Battel: A Practical Guide to Giant City-Crushing Monsters" from Hyperion Books and the Kaiju Big Battel DVD series.
To fund its live event series, monster creations and metropolitan destruction, Studio Kaiju produces and distributes its own line of merchandise including T-shirts, "real" monster meat, magnets and a whole catalogue of other cool but useless, limited-edition designer collectibles. The world of Kaiju Big Battel is also supported by the fun-fun website, kaiju.com, which hosts Big Battel news, monster profiles, live event videos, arcade-style games, comics, and the most commercial online mall ever.

JESU Releases "Lifeline" EP Today!
Dripping heavy, cascading walls of sound, U.K. shoegazing trio Jesu -- helmed by Justin Broadrick, with Diarmuid Dalton and Ted Parsons in tow -- churn out static-edged mini-epics – SPIN
Broadrick’s music comes over the stereo like its own weather pattern, an experience with more layers and detail than even 10 or 20 listens can trace out.” – PITCHFORK
The world's leading expert on distorting the living s**t out of an electric guitar. Heavier and more screwed-up than depleted uranium. Winner. – THE BBC
Count your lucky stars, fans of Justin Broadrick and Jesu. The man responsible for some of the most beautifully despondent, morose, funereal, and other synonyms for “sad” and “depressed” music of our generation has staved off suicide for yet another handful of months to grace us with a collection of melodically mournful and emotionally elegiac songs that could quite possibly give those already living on the edge a reason to find the highest viaduct in town. – DECIBEL
Arguably the most influential single figure in extreme music over the last two decades. – POPMATTERS
Could we possibly be serious? Four brand new jams from our favorite pot-addled limey genius, Justin K. Broadrick? One of which features a guest shot from ex-Swans vocalist Jarboe? Yeah, we’re totally serious—and wait ’til you hear our man’s latest clutch of dream rock gems. Like his previous EP, Silver, Lifeline is upper-atmosphere music that works just as well (if not better) down here on earth. We’d tell you more, but we’re too busy floating through the cirrus over Kangchenjunga right now, looking down at all those little specks that are really houses and cars and people and marveling at how insignificant we all are in the grand scheme of things and how the universe will continue long after we’ve all shed our mortal coils or whatever and - uh - shit - we just lost our train of thought there for a second. But look: It’s fucking Jesu, so we figure it’s already on everyone’s Top 10 list this year. For those of you keeping score, that actually makes TWO Jesu records on everyone’s Top 10 list this year. Which only leaves eight other spots for all the other awesome we put out.
Alright, it’s official: JESU conquered 2007. We know the year ain’t over; we can just tell. Critically lauded second full length selling like hot cakes? Yes. A massively successful spring tour of the U.S. with ISIS and Zozobra? Yes. And wait, three more EPs since?!? Yes. Lifeline is the third, and it contains four of JESU’s most refined tracks of shoegazed metallic abandon, one of which features Swans diva of doom, Jarboe. JESU’s records are so consistently dope that fans will know what to expect with Lifeline: serene ambient beauty, heavy bombast, and that totally signature melancholy and optimism that courses through each release. Of course, if you’ve been paying any attention then you also know that no JESU release treads old ground – it always sounds fresh -- something Senor Broadrick can’t help but do, I guess, since he also founded Godflesh, Napalm Death, Techno Animal, etc. ad infinitum!
This EP will mark JESU’s return to our shores for their first headlining tour of the US. Expect that triumphant return to also feature a variety of great bands including other HH artists that Justin is hand-picking to provide support.

BLACK TIDE Set To Tour With Avenged Sevenfold + New CD 2008 on Interscope!
BLACK TIDE burst onto the metal scene with a month-long stint opening up the main stage of Ozzfest. It’s no coincidence that at the young ages of 14 (Gabe-vocals, guitar) 18, (Zakk- bass and Alex-lead guitar) and 19 (Steven- drums), Black Tide already has an Ozzfest notch on their belt and are getting ready for their major label debut. The February release, Light From Above, is a heavy hitting, heart pounding album. It will bring back memories of explosive '80's metal to some and introduce a harder rocking sound to those who are too young to remember.
Confident stage presence and jaw dropping skill is what attracted Ozzfest to Black Tide, yet their ages caused them to be kicked off the Jagermeister-sponsored stage. Festival organizers and fans alike were outraged and as a result, Black Tide found themselves on the main stage opening up for Ozzy Osbourne and Lamb of God. Black Tide was embraced by the bands and fans all summer. They felt the same, especially Zakk who said, “Opening for Ozzy was like playing for God!”
Fresh off the main stage at Ozzfest, Black Tide is ready for a six-week tour supporting Avenged Sevenfold.

Ministry Bassist Paul Raven Dies of Heart Attack in Geneva
October 20, 2007 FRANCE - Ministry's bassist Paul Raven was found dead today in a private home in a small French village on the Swiss border. Initial reports indicate Raven's passing was due to a heart attack. Raven (known also for his work with Killing Joke, Prong) was in Geneva working with French recording artists Treponem Pal on their new release, with Marco Neves, Ted Parsons (Prong) and members of The Young Gods.
Born in Wolverhampton UK on January 16, 1961, Paul Vincent Raven established himself with his work in the seminal post-punk/industrial group Killing Joke when, in 1982 he replaced the original bassist for the band, recording and touring with the group throughout its most commercially successful period, performing on Fire Dances, Night Time and Brighter than a Thousand Suns. Throughout his extensive career, Raven participated in other collaborations including Prong, Murder, Inc., Pigface, Godflesh.
Most recently, Raven was nominated for a 2006 Grammy for Best Metal Performance for his work with Ministry's Al Jourgensen, with whom he had begun working with in late 2005 on the 13th Planet release Rio Grande Blood. After a 2006 World Tour with Ministry, Raven helped Jourgensen and Prong's Tommy Victor pen the September 18, 2006 Ministry release The Last Sucker, Ministry's final studio release.
States Jourgensen: "I am in total shock. The world of music is a sadder, emptier place. Not only was Raven an extraordinary talent, but one of my closest dearest friends. Our condolences and prayers go to his immediate family. He will be truly missed by artists, musicians and his fans the world over.
The one consolation is knowing Raven's already hooked up with the right people and started a new project in the After Life. God's speed, Raven. Rest In Peace, you fucking pirate."
Raven's newest project, Mob Research, featuring members of Warrior Soul and The Mission UK, and schedule for release on 13th Planet Records in 2008, was in the final mixing and mastering phases at the time of Raven's sudden and unexpected passing.
A memorial dedicated to the Life and Art of Paul Raven can be found at www.thirteenthplanet.com

Page France Embarks On The Cotton Jones Basket Ride
Born on a ship during the 1984 Baseball World Series between the San Diego Padres & the Detroit Tigers. Sleeps in a Peachtone cabin in the woods of Western Maryland, between a Captain Beefheart poster, and dog named, the loan officer. Has a nasty cough, and eye sight a bit less sharp than when he was 12. Finished a collection of songs : Paranoid Cocoon. Plays those same songs on stage with friends.
The earnest vibrato of Michael Nau's voice earned him a flurry of accolades the moment he placed his initial fingerprint on the music world a few years back. Though the rural Maryland native sat as a relative underdog to capture the ears of the country, Nau turned heads from coast to coast with his unique brand of jangly folk/pop leading Pitchfork to dub him "A true prodigy" and NPR to call "his wonderment in the simplest of things...infectious".
In early 2008 Nau's new face, The Cotton Jones Basket Ride, will see its first full-length release on Quite Scientific Records with Paranoid Cocoon, an album which sees the former Page France front man venturing away from the Free Design tinged hand claps of his previous work and towards the chaotically charming beauty of Harry Nilsson singing along to The Velvet Underground.
In the meantime, an individually handmade, hand-stamped, limited EP Booklet of five songs is available for purchase at all Cotton Jones shows, and via the Quite Scientific website. The booklets are hand made, hand stamped, and include a CD of four songs set to appear on the upcoming record, and one exclusive to the release.
Self-Titled EP Track listing:
1. To Death With You
2. All Along the Year
3. Friends and Such
4. Mary
5. Singer in a Band
6. Miracle Bound
Plans are also in the works for a separate 7" vinyl release to be titled Lovely Day, I Guess. You can check out the live debut of The Cotton Jones Basket Ride as a full band as part of the CMJ Music Marathon on October 19th @ The Cake Shop in NYC (Quite Scientific Records Showcase).
Tour Dates:
10.19 New York, NY - The Cake Shop (Quite Scientific Records Showcase)
11.5 Arlington, VA - Iota Club w - Federal Reserve Mondays
11.10 New York, NY - Pianos w/ Cheyenne

Tailgate at the Symphony: Barbeque of Seville (Oct. 24)
Burgers and beer, good friends, a great spot on the St. Johns River, and hundreds of enthusiastic Symphony fans add up to a winning combination. It’s none other than to the sixth annual Barbeque of Seville, a great way for all residents to get a taste of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. The event takes place Wednesday, October 24 at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts, which includes an outdoor cookout at 5 p.m. followed by a JSO concert at 6:30 p.m. in Jacoby Symphony Hall.
Patrons will also have the first chance to meet Morihiko Nakahara, who makes his debut as the Jacksonville Symphony’s new associate conductor. “I’m very excited about joining the JSO family,” said Nakahara. “It is a magnificent orchestra, plays in a marvelous concert hall, and is situated in an ever-growing city and region.”
The JSO’s Barbeque of Seville offers residents a great way to come downtown, or stay downtown after work, and have fun at the symphony – at an affordable price. The all-inclusive ticket price is $20 (general admission) in advance and $25 on the day of the concert. For tickets and information, call the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra box office at (904) 354-5547 or log on to jaxsymphony.org (online service fees apply).
The event begins with Bubba Burgers, beer and soft drinks on the river promenade of the Times-Union Center. After satisfying their appetites, guests make their way into Jacoby Symphony Hall for a Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra concert, led by Morihiko Nakahara, the JSO’s new associate conductor. Although he claims he’s not a dancer, Nakahara’s program, titled “Shall We Dance?” features selections such as Smetana’s Dance of the Comedians, Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances, Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 5, and appropriately fitting for the event, Rossini’s Barber of Seville Overture.

DUBFIRE announces the launch of his new label SCI+TEC
Dubfire (aka Ali Shirazinia)-- one half of the Grammy Award winning and four-time nominated electronic music duo Deep Dish -- is pleased to announce the launch of his new digital label, Science + Technology Digital Audio [SCI + TEC]. The label will act as an exclusive outlet for Dubfire’s original productions and a home for up and coming artists from around the globe.
The launch of SCI + TEC comes at a time of immense change and artistic growth for Dubfire. As heard on his recent Taipei mix compilation for Global Underground, Dubfire has shifted his attention towards a mix of darker, deeper music that first inspired him while growing up in the Washington, DC area. The crown jewel of Taipei was Dubfire’s cover of Love & Rockets’ “I Feel Speed,” a track that featured his own vocals and perfectly showcased his constantly evolving sound. It will be released as a single in November on SCI+TEC. Cutting-edge producers Audion [Matthew Dear], Booka Shade and UNKLE have been tapped to remix the track – these mixes will be available in December.
“With Deep Dish, we are currently exploring our own creative paths. Since the music industry climate has changed, I though it was the right time to start a new digital-only label. I also needed an outlet to release my productions quickly and at a great value for the fans.”
Some of the most respected and inspired DJs have been supporting Dubfire’s recent productions. His tracks “Roadkill” and “RibCage” are two of 2007’s most acclaimed releases and they’re helping to build a growing buzz all over the world on his new journey. “RibCage” is already being hailed a techno classic around the globe, notably in Germany where it garnered a #1 spot in Groove Magazine’s influential DJ Chart for an unprecedented two months in a row!
Long-time friend, legendary DJ/producer Richie Hawtin, has included Dubfire’s original track “Emissions” on the forthcoming M_nus compilation EXPANSION / contraction. Dubfire’s track sits alongside the work of respected underground artists including Marc Houle, Troy Pierce, and Hawtin’s own Plastikman guise, among others. Dubfire has also remixed the Plastikman classic “Spastik” for release on M_nus in 2008 and more recently, completed mixes for System 7 and UNKLE.
SCI + TEC will release music on a monthly basis with the goal of twelve releases per year. Forthcoming tracks include the aforementioned “I Feel Speed,” as well as Dubfire + Simi’s nod to the Naples techno scene, “Angels Over Naples,” featuring mixes from Davide Squillace, Rino Cerrone, Gaetano Parisio, Danilo Vigorito and more.

The Dimes' debut LP coming on December 11th!
Wildly melodic and inherently quirky, The Dimes’ sunny day indie-pop is born of the same Northwest, um, loins as The Decemberists, The Shins, Ben Gibbard, and even recent Austin to Portland transplants, Spoon. In fact, known for unexpected outbreaks of foot stomping and hand clapping at their live shows, The Dimes boys’ first full-length looks to push them a couple rungs up the ladder, closer to likes of the aforementioned indie royalty – maybe sooner than anticipated.
Early reviews are already gushing with admiration for the new album, The Silent Generation. The Portland Tribune boasts “a fantastic new album from one of the city’s most promising new artists”, while the Stranger coos “The Dimes simply create really lovely, understated but sweepingly beautiful tunes that burrow into your brain, take hold, and refuse to leave.” And the Willamette Week testifies to “lucid, charging pop anthems complete with clap-along beats and considerable harmonic glee.”
However, even with all of the charming comparisons to their Northwest kin, The Silent Generation is built around something undeniably original. While singer-songwriter Johnny Clay insists the record isn’t a full-fledged concept album, he does concede that most of the record draws its inspiration from a series of Depression-era newspapers that guitarist, Pierre Kaiser, found buried beneath the old floors of his 1908 Portland home. At first, the old papers were a novelty item and a good read for a history buff like Clay. But it wasn’t long before he fell in love with the cast of bizarre characters he found, resurrecting them on the new album.
Only a day after unearthing the papers, Clay arrived at rehearsal with two brand new songs in his quiver, including “Paul Kern Can’t Sleep”, a brilliant American pop song about a WWI soldier who didn’t sleep for 30 years due to a stray bullet lodged in his brain. Intrigued by the new material, the four friends started doing what they do best - geeking-out in the studio, creating the gleeful and quirky arrangements that they’ve become known for: stomps and hand claps, punchy guitars, glockenspiels, melodicas, flutes, and their signature statement – perfect heart-warming harmonies that Brian Wilson would applaud.
The result is an album that unravels like a soundtrack to an odd documentary film, bringing to life a world of endearing, yet enigmatic characters from long ago. A film where a 19th Century Czech opera star can hob-nob with Al Capone-era Chicago gangsters, while an 8-year old boy from Kansas can fly high above a cornfield after being sucked out of his home by a tornado. A strange world perhaps... but not to worry. The Silent Generation will rile you up, spook you a bit, romance you some, then ease your mind with happy melodies and unique instrumentation that will bring you back home.

The Master Plan of the Elite Will Soon be Uncovered
For the New World Order, a world government is just the beginning. Once in place, these global syndicates can exact their plan to reduce the world’s population by 80% in order to select the “chosen few” of the planet and help them live forever -- with the aid of advanced technology. In ENDGAME: BLUEPRINT FOR GLOBAL ENSLAVEMENT, one of America’s most incendiary activists and filmmakers, Alex Jones, exposes the dark history of a global elite whom he believes is following a master plan to depopulate the world and secure a monopoly over our planet’s future. Shot on location and in high definition, this chilling exposé – certain to make viewers reconsider their worldviews -- makes its DVD debut on November 13 for $19.95srp.
In ENDGAME, Jones chronicles the history of the global elite’s rise to power and reveals how dictators and the world’s bloodiest wars have been financed – all to pave the way for the first true world empire. By tracking history back more than 250 years, ENDGAME reveals in compelling fashion -- unlike any documentary before -- all the pieces of the globalists’ dark agenda. Looking back at past atrocities committed by those attempting to steer the future, it’s revealed how the media has contributed by censoring information about the elites for more than 60 years. Jones and his team also track the elusive, secretive Bilderberg Group from Ottawa to Istanbul in an attempt to uncover their secret summits, giving citizens the world over a front-row seat to witness global kingpins setting the world’s agenda – and, quite possibly -- instigating the next World War.
But ENDGAME goes far beyond an explanation of how the elites are creating their mythic New World Order: Jones shows how they are literally planning a return to feudal times, with massive population reduction, eugenics-led creation of a super race; the “ghetto-ization” of the masses in giant urban conglomerations; and how the North American transportation control grid will assist in ending U.S. sovereignty forever.
ENDGAME graphically illustrates this Brave New World, literally quoting Aldous Huxley and his eugenicist brother Julian, and proving that Huxley’s fictional future is largely here -- now.
Loaded with additional controversial materials, the ENDGAME DVD packs on another round of conspiracy theories with both bonus programming, including:
* “Bilderberg 2007 Report” - Extended footage of the annual secretive conference
* “The Battle for the Republic” featurette with extended interviews and footage
* Special performance of “Shackles on Me” by blues legend Jimmie Vaughan
Don’t miss this mind-boggling documentary, which, for the first time on film, fully reveals the elite’s agenda to dominate the earth and carry out one of the most wicked plans in recorded history.
