Sister Hazel plans 12 Days Of Christmas Tour 2007

Gainesville, Florida five-piece Sister Hazel is planning to do a special set of tour dates, dubbed the “12 Days of Christmas Tour 2007,” to celebrate the recent release of their holiday record, “Santa’s Playlist.” The tour kicks off in late November and goes through the end of the year (see full tour schedule below), and it features stops at a number of seated venues the band has not played in before, such as BB King’s in New York City, the Somerville Theater in Boston, and the Neighborhood Theater in Charlotte, to name just a few. For the 12 Days of Christmas Tour 2007 dates, the band plans to play all of the songs on “Santa’s Playlist,” as well as a handful of fans’ favorite rock hits. The first of the shows will be at the Performing Arts Center in the band’s hometown of Gainesville.

Kicking off the holiday festivities prior to the tour will be the band’s appearance at the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival in Chicago on November 17th. Joining KT Tunstall, Corbin Bleu and others, Sister Hazel will be performing on the The Harris Stage at Pioneer Court along Michigan Avenue in the afternoon (a 5-7 song rock set). The band is also slated to grace the WTMX-FM float in the parade, upon which they will perform acoustically. The parade is part of the evening festivities, during which Mickey Mouse and his pals from the Walt Disney World® Resort will illuminate over one million lights on 200 trees along The Magnificent Mile. The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival is the first official nationwide event celebrating the holiday season and is held along North Michigan Avenue between Oak Street and the Chicago River. This year is the first time this magical event will shine on a national stage through syndicated national television broadcasts. The procession and fireworks will air in over 40 percent of the country between November 18th and December 25th.

“Santa’s Playlist” was released on September 25th, and it was recorded in response to countless requests from fans. The album incorporates classics and standards remade in their own unique way, obscure Christmas tunes, and several of the band’s originals. “Each of us got to bring in three songs and produce them,” explains guitarist Ryan Newell. “Being in a band with five equal voices, it was a great experience to see each one of us take turns in the producer seat,” adds vocalist/guitarist Drew Copeland.

Sister Hazel will also be hosting Rock Boat VIII, which will sail from Miami, FL, on January 19, 2008, for a five-day festival at sea with port stops in Jamaica and Grand Cayman. The Rock Boat was co-founded by Sister Hazel and Sixthman.

Sister Hazel is: Ken Block (vocals, acoustic guitar), Drew Copeland (vocals, rhythm guitar), Ryan Newell (lead guitar), Jett Beres (bass), Mark Trojanowski (drums).
