ANNIE LENNOX DEBUTS AT NUMBER 9 ON THE BILLBOARD CHARTS WITH HER 4TH SOLO RELEASE SONGS OF MASS DESTRUCTION!

Multi-million selling artist Annie Lennox’s critically acclaimed fourth solo album, “Songs Of Mass Destruction,” (Arista Records) debuts at number 9 on the Billboard charts with 78,354 albums sold. This is Annie's second Top 10 debut and second best scans debut as a solo artist. "Songs of Mass Destruction" also debuted at #2 on both the Digital Albums Chart and the Internet Albums Chart.

“Songs Of Mass Destruction” showcases an artist who is unafraid of pushing boundaries and challenging herself. Annie delivers thought provoking and intelligent lyrics matched with her distinctive pop sound. She says that this album is the closest she’s been so far to that authentically raw and emotional place, infused with the contrasts of beauty, yearning and sadness.

In a career that has spanned over 25 years, including the 15 years since Annie released her first solo album, Diva, no other British female artist has achieved so much recognition. Over 78 million in global sales, and 33 hit singles compliment the 4 Grammies, 11 BRITS, 5 Ivor Novellos, the Oscar, and the 2 Golden Globes amongst other accolades.

Currently on the road for the ‘Annie Lennox Sings’ tour which kicked off on October 8th and continues through November 11th she will be performing in smaller venues across the United States. This tour, the 3rd of her solo career, will give fans the opportunity to enjoy her new material and beloved classics in a special and extraordinarily rare environment. Annie’s exquisite voice and mesmerizing stage presence will be illuminated in this once in a lifetime concert experience.

The critics have embraced “Songs of Mass Destruction,” Rolling Stone gave it 3 ½ stars, USA Today gave it 3 stars and praised, “The pop siren’s agile voice, always bold but beautifully reined in, is front and center on a collection of sturdy, grown-up songs…” The Los Angeles Times also gave it 3 stars and raved, “That’s good news for fans of the demigod of divas, because her quest has resulted in a return of the fiery, gospel-rooted rave-up to her repertoire…” and People Magazine said of the album, “Lennox is at her brooding best on sumptuous ballads like “Lost” and ‘Smithereens,” on which her soulful delivery lends real depth to a line like “Everybody is an island to themselves.”
