“Railbird’s guitar parts sound like a chilled-out Battles while Pedinotti’s vocals recall Bjork’s charming
acrobatics...”
- TREESWINGERS
“’Jump Ship' spans so many genres that you can certainly
value where each member chimes in with their own vocal arrangement or unique
style of instrumentation. The song is so intimately structured…a truly
mesmerizing track.”
- INDIE SHUFFLE
Brooklyn-based musical collective Railbird premieres new
video for “Jump Ship” exclusively on Brooklyn Vegan. The video - directed,
edited, and produced by Margaret Lewis and Railbird’s Sarah K. Pedinotti (SKP)
- features guest vocalists Sarah Barthel of Phantogram and Anti recording
artist Sean Rowe.
Railbird is a cast of stunningly talented
multi-instrumentalists fronted by vocalist SKP, whose haunting delivery has
earned her apt comparisons to musical luminaries such as Bjork and Kate Bush.
“Margaret and I went into the making of this video with a lot of crazy ideas,”
says SKP, “Then I saw a guy making huge bubbles on a windy Spring day in
Central Park and was inspired.” SKP and Lewis sought out Keith Johnson, the
bubble wrangler, and the concept was born.
After self-releasing their debut album No One,
Railbird was invited to perform at SXSW, CMJ, and the 4th Annual
Roots Picnic in Philly. No One, co-produced by Jeremy Gustin and
SKP in Queens and upstate NY. The band’s unique blend of experimental
psych-pop has found a home with fans of Grizzly Bear, the Dirty Projectors, and
Massive Attack.
Railbird is currently recording demos and rehearsing in a
cabin at Lake George after completing a summer residency at Pete’s Candy Store
in Brooklyn. Upcoming NYC shows include a headlining set at Cameo Gallery on
August 23rd and an opening set at The Rock Shop on September 7th.
You can also catch Railbird at this year’s POP Montreal.
