Dead Can Dance + Full Album Stream, Pitchfork Feature, Worldwide Tour Starts Thursday, Anastasis Out August 14

“Specializes in richly atmospheric music laced with medieval folk elements and esoteric ethnic influences.”—New Yorker

“Blurring traditional baroque, Eastern-European, Middle-Eastern, North-African and Native-American music into ethereal soundscapes, Dead Can Dance creates an ethnic fusion that equally appeals to and unites gothic, chant and world-beat enthusiasts.” —The Chicago Tribune

Critically acclaimed duo Dead Can Dance recently signed to [PIAS] America to release Anastasis is in stores on August 14 marking their first new recording since 1996’s Spiritchaser. In support of the album, Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry will embark on a worldwide tour this summer kicking off on release date atThe Orpheum in Vancouver. The tour marks the bands first live shows since their sold out 2005 tour and will bring them to four continents during an eight month period. Fans can expect live performances highlighting arrangements from decade’s worth of musical archives plus songs from their upcoming release. Please see dates below.

Perry and Gerrard began working on the album in the autumn of 2011. Earlier this year Perry said of the sessions at Ireland’s Quivy Studios, “Lisa and myself are genuinely excited to be working together again in the studio.”

Forming in Australia more than 30 years ago, Gerrard and Perry have created ten critically acclaimed albums including the classic Into The Labyrinth in 1993 and the retrospective Memento in 2005. The New York Times describes Dead Can Dance as “mixing elements of western medieval music, world-beat and synth-rocks magisterial sweep.”

Unlike other concerts, which typically remain in a single genre of music or work of a particular artist, festivals often cover a broad scope of music and arts.
