Firehorse // "Our Hearts" Video // LA, SXSW and Brooklyn

“Fabulous, fabulous songs and a great singer in Leah Siegel... Think the best of Jeff Buckley”
- Bob Boilen, NPR "All Songs Considered"

FIREHORSE is the captivating new project from singer/songwriter/instrumentalist Leah Siegel.  In Sept 2011 the Brooklyn outfit released the eclectic debut, And so they ran faster… and the album has received praise from the LA Times, Wall Street Journal, NPR, Paste, Teen Vogue, MOKB & The L Mag, to name a few.

Firehorse was recently named NPR’s “Next Big Band from NYC,” a Paste Magazine “Best of What’s Next” and one ofSpinner’s “12 Artists to Watch in 2012.”
Paste Magazine appropriately premiered the debut video from Firehorse for Our Hearts on Valentine’s Day and they’re currently giving away signed copies of And so they ran faster… on vinyl.  Check out the video for “Our Hearts” here.

Leah Sigel will be doing an intimate SXSW send-off show at Hotel Café in LA on March 7th and then the full band has a packed week in Austin.  Once returning home, Firehorse will be holding court in Brooklyn with an appearance at The FilmShop’s event at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Sat, March 24 and a headlining show at the Knitting Factory on Wed, April 25.  A full list of tour dates can be found below.

Produced by Geoff Stanfield (Mark Kozelek, Sun Kil Moon, Moby) and with Steve Elliot on guitar, the inimitable Tim Luntzel(Rosanne Cash, Loudon Wainwright III, and more) on bass, and Brian Wolfe (Sufjan Stevens, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, My Brightest Diamond, Joan Jett) on drums, And so they ran faster... explores the sonic possibilities and personal expression of an artist reaching for the next horizon.

Firehorse did a wonderfully vulnerable and eye-opening feature with Todd Martens of the LA Times in October 2011 and aWeekend Conversations" interview w/ Jim Fusilli of the Wall Street Journal where Fusilli calls the album, “terrific," and commends, "I love this album for so many reasons.  It’s got such a timeless vibe to it.”

“Firehorse has crafted a nine-track album that shows off her vocal range and drapes it in adventurous orchestral pop arrangements.”
- Todd Martens, LA TIMES

“Siegel’s powerhouse vocals were the highlight of the set, at times haunting and at other times providing the
perfect soundtrack to what quickly evolved into an indie-pop dance party.”
- Bonnie Stiernberg, PASTE MAGAZINE (10 Great Bands from CMJ)

“(And So They Ran Faster...) is a stunning collection of thoughtful songs which explore pop, jazz and electronic music, while calling attention to the versatility of her vocals. Siegel recently recorded a fantastic studio session with us, and this year she'll tour and release more videos from the new album.”
- Alisa Ali, THE ALTERNATE SIDE/WFUV

“Ms. Siegel’s evocative vocals recall a more mainstream Kate Bush or Cat Power’s Chan Marshall minus the abstraction, and constantly belie the mechanical musical precision of chippy lead single, 'Our Hearts'."
- MY OLD KENTUCKY BLOG

"We haven't stopped listening to first single 'Our Hearts,'... Seriously, you'd be crazy not to download this track."
- Leigh Belz, TEEN VOGUE

“the fusion of funk and pop and grunge, and a trained, confident voice were all the right ingredients, but the songs themselves were some of the best crafted I’ve heard at this year’s CMJ.”
- Sydney Brownstone, THE L MAGAZINE
