ICEAGE ANNOUNCE SUMMER TOUR OF NORTH AMERICA

The Danish four-piece comprising Iceage -- Jakob Tvilling Pless (bass), Dan Kjær Nielsen (drums), Elias Bender Rønnenfelt (vocals/guitar), and Johan Wieth (guitar) -- have kept busy since the release of their debut full-length album, New Brigade (What’s Your Rupture?/Abeano/Escho). Following a five-week tour of North America last summer, they released the video for “You’re Blessed,” which chronicled their tour of the states, received a thorough range of year-end accolades from outlets including Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, SPIN, New York Magazine, traversed Europe and Japan, and plunged themselves into various other projects. Jakob and Dan have been working on their metal band, SEJR (“victory” in Danish); Elias has released a 7” with War and is soon releasing his solo 7” under the name Marching Church; and Johan has recorded an album in an old church with War and Sexdrome frontman Loke Rahbek. In addition to working on new Iceage material, the band is currently on the road overseas and will return to the states this summer to tour the Midwest, East Coast, and Southeast, including stops at Chaos in Tejas in Austin and the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago. A full list of upcoming dates is below.

“The most important thing to know about Iceage is that they gave us this near-perfect, 12-song, 24-minute debut LP, a collection that nails the blasted, chaotic energy of UK post-punk and the midnight ambiance of 1980s goth and California death rock and adds no-wave wrapped hooks delivered by baby-faced, vacant-eyed frontman Elias Rønnenfelt . . . ” – Pitchfork [#37 in “The Top 50 Albums of 2011”]

“A band of teenagers from Denmark gallops through some of the year’s most engaging punk and post-punk—with remarkable style, an ear for melody, and plenty of hustle and clamor.” – New York Magazine [#6 in Nitsuh Abebe’s “The Top 10”]

“I don’t know much about Danish culture, but judging by the sound of their unruly punk rock youth, it involves some free-thinking, hard-drinking, barbed-wire-chewing aggression.” – Rolling Stone [#5 in Rob Sheffield’s “10 Best Albums of 2011”]

“[New Brigade’s] lifeblood is that nebulous X-factor no music nerd can chart: wild, implacable energy. The young band’s rumble is pure and dark and infectious enough to prompt a pit in your office kitchen, let alone some basement full of frustrated, flailing kids.” – SPIN [#23 in “The Top 40 Albums of the Year”]

“The Danish teens ripped into Seventies post-punk with such teeth-gnashing idealism they make it seem new again.” – Rolling Stone [Rookies of the Year]
