“A combination of Bruce Springsteen, The Pogues and the noise the devil makes as cities burn. It's one thing to talk about the destruction of institutions that hold society together, but another to mean it. World/Inferno Friendship Society means it, or seems to, and it's unclear which is more dangerous.” - NPR
"A raucous, nine-person cabaret act that introduced a welcome touch of anarchy to the cozy Caucus Patio" - Entertainment Weekly
"Showtune-esque vocals, plenty of horns, and hooks that are impossible *not* to sing along to." - Alternative Press
“If you're looking for something different, important and fun (all at the same time), then I can think of no CD that fits the bill as well as Red-Eyed Soul.” – Punknews.org
"The word "unique" doesn't even describe half of the qualities that make the WORLD INFERNO / FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY a compelling recorded and live act. This compact of friends and roaring musicians is "disorderly conduct" in motion, enacted with a fervor that cannot be washed out." - Pastepunk.com
Brooklyn punk legends WORLD/INFERNO FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY join forces with Jay Scheib,* one of contemporary theater’s brightest young visionaries, to create a punk-rock opera for the times. Continuing the charge in the evolution of the genre via the ultimate 20th century archetype of alienation, Peter Lorre, World/Inferno dedicate a furious song cycle following Lorre’s unheralded existence from his days with Wedekind and Brecht through the cycle of World Wars to a pitiless fall from grace in the drug-infused quagmire of Hollywood vines. Led by the inimitable Jack Terricloth, World/Inferno paint a picture of the twentieth century from the outsider’s eye via a multi-media spectacle.
"Addicted to Bad Ideas" is the new album from the collective known as The World/Inferno Friendship Society, Gotham City's anarchist big-band originally known for bringing their brand of circus inspired swing-punk to rooftops, basements, halls, churches and anywhere their fire-breathing mayhem was accepted. The Inferno has since created a cult-following (especially in the New York City metropolitan area) that is so magical, their live appearances are some of the most intense and eagerly anticipated events of the weekend.
Recorded by Don Fury and featuring, for the first time ever, a full orchestra backing the group, "Addicted to Bad Ideas" is by far the band's most fascinating work yet. Premiering live in Fall 2007 @ WXPN's World Cafe in Philadelphia, in conjunction with the Chunksaah Records release of the band's new record, one of America’s finest progressive punk bands bring their unique vision from the clubs to the stage for the first time, and delves into the most comprehensive and intriguing work the World/Inferno Friendship Society has ever brought us.
