Bodog Music recording artists Soma City Ward will release their first album, The Bed I Made, on August 28 in Canada. Hailing from Vancouver, B.C., Soma City Ward is a rock 'n roll foursome poised to breathe new life into British Columbia's hard-rock scene.
Soma City Ward is not your average hard-rock band, their musical stylings act as an anthem for the working class hero. With heavy guitars and booming percussion, the melodic, male driven vocals add depth and power to the message of the songs. Formed out of the need to break free from a very dark period of his life, Alley Artico named the band Soma City Ward as a representation of the catatonic state music was heading in and he was living in. As the catharsis happened, the lyrics were written and the riffs were found, providing a classic guitar foundation for Cam Dixon on vocals to explore. SCW has since grown to include Zedd on the bass and Skinny 2 Sticks on the drums.
Bodog Music label-heads tracked the local buzz from Soma City Ward and immediately signed them to a deal in 2006. With a track record of breaking Canadian bands into the global market, SCW knew they found a home with Bodog Music.
"Everyone is really excited about working with Bodog Music," Zedd says. "We've got a great relationship with everyone there and they've shown with the other bands on the roster that they've got a real ability to get stuff done. We're really happy about or future with Bodog Music."
The band has spent countless hours in the studio recording their debut, which is fully loaded with blue-collar rock anthems, and aggressive guitar stomping tracks, including the explosive single, "Fade".
"It is the standout track, of course," says Artico. "It's a song about questioning our role in life and why some of us seem to choose the path less traveled."
It looks like these Canadian rockers are on the path less traveled themselves, as they prepare to bring their music to the masses.
