The Antler's "Hotel" video premieres at Pitchfork

Pitchfork is premiering the video for “Hotel,” the second pre-release track available from The Antlers’ highly-anticipated, forthcoming fifth studio album Familiars, out June 17 on Anti- Records and on Transgressive Records in the U.K. June 16. Watch the video here. The band will play and intimate show at Brooklyn’s Rough Trade NYC on release day; fans who purchase the album at Rough Trade will receive a pair of wristbands for the show and can also win access via Flavorpill here.
Of the track, SPIN says, “‘Hotel’ trades on The Antlers' strengths: drowsy horns, twinkling keyboard bits, muted guitar, and lyrics that confront mortality, whether they're intended to or not.” To celebrate the release of the album, the band will embark on a nationwide tour with stops including New York, Chicago and two nights at Los Angeles’ Troubadour on June 25. Preorder Familiars here:
First single “Palace” premired to wide critical acclaim:
“A prettily mournful music box melody.”—Stereogum
“A lovely and glowing lullaby...”—Consequence of Sound
“Sounds like The Antlers saying “we’re back.”—Brooklyn Vegan
“Trembling show of instrumental melancholy.”—Drowned in Sound
“Even stronger, more decisive and prettier than ever before…”—Revolt
Familiars, the band’s fourth studio album, follows 2011’s critically lauded Burst Apart, which Pitchfork named Best New Music and NPR called “a delicate mixture of grace and intensity.” Familiars was recorded, engineered and produced by the band in their Brooklyn studio and mixed by Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Beach House) at DNA Downtown Studios.
The Antlers is Peter Silberman, Darby Cicci and Michael Lerner. Silberman founded The Antlers in 2006 as a solo project and released two bedroom-recorded LPs before enlisting Cicci and Lerner to round out the group. As a trio they recorded and released 2009s breakoutHospice and Burst Apart, as well as the 2012 EP Undersea.
