"Every band faces adversity or challenges along the way and we're no exception," explains frontman Eric Hausser of Chicago-based pop punk band COUNTERPUNCH. "Using BRUISES as the title to this release kind of sums up the journey we've been on for the past ten years." Their third studio album Bruises is set for anAugust 5, 2014 release on Cyber Tracks with pre-sale kicking off on July 9. In the meantime, fans can get a taste of their new album by downloading their single "Destroyed By Lions" for FREE in the next 24 hours: http://goo.gl/A6mc43.
Bruises was produced and mixed by Matt Allison (Alkaline Trio, Less Than Jake, The Menzingers) at Atlas Studios in Chicago. "I think he was a great filter for ideas and kind of harnessed our creative energy in the best way possible," describes Hausser. "Matt also got us to focus our time and effort on the right songs. Overall, it was a special experience and something that we needed as a band." The 11-track album masterfully blends the sound of '90s melodic skate punk with modern Rise Against-style angst and showcases the band's penchant for three part harmonies and anthemic choruses. From the No Use For A Name inspired "Blueprint" to the metallic riff laden "Guardrails" to the anthemic "Destroyed By Lions" – Counterpunch has crafted an album for both the new school and old school punk fan.
