Rubblebucket Announces Fall Tour, Survival Sounds Out August 26 on Communion

“…bobs along merrily with warmth and punch provided by muted brass, intrigue courtesy of the unexpected twists in the arrangements, and humor by a penchant for whistle solos.”
The Wall Street Journal

“On the strength of a style melding propulsive polyrhythms, syncopated horns, New Wave-era art-school rock, and gleaming pop, all within a slyly psychedelic aesthetic, Rubblebucket may be on the verge of a breakthrough.”—The Boston Globe

Rubblebucket has announced a 35 date fall tour in support of their upcoming album Survival Sounds. Their third full-length album is out on Communion Records August 26. SPIN recently premiered Survival Sounds’ first pre-release track, “Sound of Erasing.” “The track’s ska guitars build over glitchy sonics,” says SPIN of the song, “and finally erupt into an tropical-friendly crescendo.” Listen to “Sound of Erasing” via SPIN HERE and via Soundcloud HERE. The record is the band’s label debut and comes on the heels of 2013’sSave Charlie EP and 2012’s Oversaturated EP. NPR Music’s All Songs Considered praised Save Charlie, calling its title track “a fabulous pop song,” and Pasteadmired Oversaturated’s “catchy, compelling music that will make anyone with a pulse dance.” See full tour dates below.
Survival Sounds was produced and mixed by John Congleton (St. Vincent, Modest Mouse, David Byrne) and recorded at Mission Sound Studio in Brooklyn. According to Traver, “This is by far the longest project we've ever worked on. For various reasons we were able to hit our stride as a group and settle into functional creative roles...We pushed ourselves creatively, really worked to create lyrics that were the most meaningful, arrangements that hit the hardest and sounds that were the most clarion.”
Rubblebucket was formed after the Kalmia Traver and Alex Toth met while attending The University of Vermont. Following graduation, the two were joined by Adam Dotson (trombone), David Cole (Drums) and Ian Hersey (electric guitar), and released their self-titled debut in 2009. The groups second full-length, Omega La La was produced and mixed by Eric Broucek (Hercules and Love Affair, Classixx, Holy Ghost) and its single “Came Out of A Lady” was chosen as one of the Top 50 Songs of 2011 by Paste. The album was available online for free two months prior to its official release and was downloaded 50,000 times. The band made its television debut on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in 2012.
