Shortly after the 2012 release of their honest and powerful 90s influenced recordColourmeinkindness, on Run For Cover Records, UK quintet Basement surprised fans by going on an indefinite hiatus.  In the short two years since, the alternative rock act has steadily gained a loyal following across the globe.  Fans were elated when the band announced a summer world tour, with all dates quickly selling out.  Now followers have something else to be excited about - not only is Basement playing again but today they announced the release of their new EP, Further Sky via Run For Cover Records on July 29th, 2014.

Noisey is currently streaming a new song, "Summer's Colour", from Further Skyalongside an interview with Basement guitarist Alex Henery which details the new EP.

Further Sky breaks Basement's musical silence following their final acclaimed 2012 full-length Colourmeinkindess.  Boasting two new songs and a cover of Suede's "Animal Nitrate", the EP updates the band's alternative rock explorations with a decidedly British flavour.  Recorded spring 2014 at North London's Livingston Studio (The Clash, Bjork, Jesus and Mary Chain), new tracks "Summer's Colour" and "Jet" build upon past work adding more complex interwoven melodies touched with the subtle psychedelic tendencies of Swervedriver and Failure.  "Animal Nitrate" provides the perfect cousin to Basement's originals, operating in the same melodic headspace with lively instrumentals and a shimmering chorus.

The sold-out world tour will have support from Ovlov as well as Run For Cover labelmates Pity Sex, Superheaven, Cloakroom and Creative Adult and marks will be Basement's first live appearances since 2012.  All tour dates are below.
