Noisey is premiering the video for EELS’ “Lockdown Hurricane,” the second single from the band’s eleventh album, The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett, out now on E Works/Pias. Watch the video via Noisey here.
The band is currently on tour to support the album. The Arizona Republic calls the live show a “darkly comic triumph” while The Austin Chronicles says, “EELS performed with humor, breadth and consistency.”
Legendary Journey frontman Steve Perry recently stood in with EELS at the St. Paul, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles stops on their worldwide tour for his first public performances in nearly 20 years. Together, EELS and Perry have performed EELS’ “It’s A Motherfucker” as well as Journey classics “Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin,’” “Open Arms,” and “Lights.”

The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everettmarks the 11th full-length release for EELS, whose debut Beautiful Freak was released in 1996. In addition to the recordings, Everett has embarked on a number of non-musical projects as well including his acclaimed bookThings the Grandchildren Should Know and the multiple-award winning Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives documentary film about Everett and his quantum physicist father, Hugh Everett III, broadcast on PBS’ Nova series.
