Todd Carey to release "The Duets Project" EP on July 17, 2012

Brooklyn-based and Chicago-born singer-songwriter Todd Carey will be releasing his EP, entitled The Duets Project, exclusively online on July 17, 2012.  Says Carey of the EP:  “The Duets Project came about in a very natural and organic way. Fans and friends had been requesting stripped-down and intimate recordings of songs from my catalogue.”

Featured on the EP are five amazingly talented women dueting with Carey:  Alysse Fischer, Dawn Mitschele, Daphne Willis, Sarah Miles, and Amber Rubarth.  Says Carey of his choice to record duets:  “Having the material and desire to collaborate with a variety of female singers for a long time, it became the perfect opportunity to combine both ideas. While writing and recording the high-energy pop music for my next album, it became a quiet and meditative outlet artistically. It was also a great chance to debut a songwriting direction I've been exploring with the track “Float Away” [a track on the EP].  I’m really happy with the resulting EP and to be working with the Rock Ridge Music label.”

Carey’s most recent release, 2010’s After The Morning After EP, hit the Top 40 on iTunes’ Pop Chart and was produced by Mikal Blue (Colbie Caillat, Five for Fighting).  Previously, he released three solo albums (ElevateRevolving World, andWatching Waiting [which came out through Universal’s Fontana Distribution]) and an additional EP (Whitefish Bay Sessions).  Carey is no stranger to touring and has criss-crossed the country repeatedly, playing over 250 shows in support of After The Morning After.  He’s toured with and performed on stage with numerous artists including Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Marc Broussard, Keaton Simons and Matt Duke.  Music from his Watching Waiting album was featured in the film “Palo Alto” and on MTV's “The Real World.”  Billboard magazine called Watching Waiting “…custom-made for the top of the pop charts... with a witty edge.”

Carey is hitting the road again this summer for the “Float Away Tour” with Bushwalla, which has already stopped in Milwaukee at Summerfest this month.  Additionally, Carey has two dates with Tony Lucca in Florida in September before he performs at Hotel Carolina in Isle of Palms, SC.  (See below for a list of tour dates.)
