The Blakes -- "Art of Losses" out next week w/ NYC area dates -- Pre-Release Listening Party at PureVolume -- Live on KEXP Thurs, July 26 at 12 Noon Eastern

Seattle trio The Blakes return with their highly anticipated new album,  Art of Losses next week but over at PureVolume you can spin its exclusive premiere right now, one week before it officially drops on July 24.

Alyssa Coluccio from PV hails, “From the jangling soul-rock of ‘Paralysis’ to the tambourine-dream, 60s-leaning melodies of ‘New Friends’, this is an album built on diversity and heart, reflection and acceptance.” Emily Zemler at RCRD LBL called Art of Losses, “A terse collection of alt-pop numbers. The title track is a swaggering rocker that pairs grungy guitars with pensively mopey vocals, throwing back to ‘60s-style rock.” Download the track “Art of Losses” from RCRDLBL here.

The Blakes will be at Pianos on Thurs, July 26 for an early show at 7pm and The Saint in Asbury Park, NJ on Fri, July 27th.  Leading to the performances, The Blakes will be live-on-air for an interview with John Richards and performance at KEXP from their New York Studio. This session will air LIVE on 90.3-FM KEXP in Seattle and worldwide at http://kexp.org at 12noon Eastern on Thursday, July 26th.

In 34 minutes, Art of Losses zips through dreamy pop, electro-tinged rock, moody post-punk and lo-fi guitars mixed with big harmonies.  Snow recently discussed the influence of the Rolling Stones on The Blakes withPaste Magazine.

"The Blakes return with yet another stellar record proving they're one of the best rock bands out there today."
– John Richards, KEXP

“Soak the Kinks in cheap booze, reignite the Stooges’ strut and add some modern Strokes of ambition, and you have the Blakes.”
– SPIN

“Dandy Warhols-ish swampy guitars, twitchy Strokes rhythms, and power-pop vocal harmonies, offering an energetic and unmannered romp through modern rock radio.”
– PITCHFORK

“Innocent and raunchy, wide-eyed and tunnel-visioned, all at once.”
– NPR
