Videoing release "Reader LP" today; release show July 20th at Mohawk in Austin!

Videoing, a new music project from Austin, TX mixes hi-tech intentions with lo-fi cogs, gears and whistles, offering up a sound meant to be unique but familiar, gritty but smooth, driving but calm (in a crazy sort of way). Their debut album, Reader LP , should prick the ears of the blogosphere, the unsuspecting random listener and the audiophile community at large.

Adreon Henry has spent the last decade developing a long list of successful music, art, and mixed media projects including the ‘00s art / electro / post-punk trio Single Frame, spin and mashup masters Car Stereo Wars, and rap/punk/ performance art troop CUSTODIAN. Recent art projects range from the opening of E-Z Egos and Effigies, an Austin Convenience store dedicated to the sale of online personas and accompanying vinyl paintings, to a residency to develop pieces for the Albuquerque Film Festival in honor of actor Dean Stockwell, to design and branding for hip Austin, TX eateries.

Henry’s newest project, Videoing, reunites his musical tweaks, spastic drums, and skate shoe vox with the sonic oddities and dirty boot guitar mess and finesse of Single Frame co-founder, Brendan Reilly. Jen Bradley (also of CUSTODIAN) alters the dynamic with a menagerie of synth, stiletto Polly Jean vocal stylings, and rough spun aesthetics. Videoing’s debut release, Reader LP, is out July 10, 2012.

Henry and Reilly founded Single Frame (Ashtray) in 2000. After inadvertently losing the Ashtray in 2002, Single Frame released their debut album, Wetheads Come Running, and built a loyal following on the foundations of furious oddball performances, three more releases, and very kind reviews from a fledgling blogosphere / internet music community.

After Single Frame’s dissolution, Henry teamed with Bradley to conceptualize CUSTODIAN. Part punk-rap mash up band, part social experiment, the duo was as likely to be booted from the venue (or hair salon) for disturbing patrons with aggressive pre-show sweeping and mopping as they were to follow up the cleaning frenzy with blue collar rap, break beat drum layers, and duct tape wrapped celery throwing.

In 2010, Henry and Reilly rekindled collaborations, virtually, from their respective kitchens to develop various jingles, commercial scores, and webisode themes; ultimately leading to the brick and mortar foundation of Videoing.

With the completion of The Ruins, their collective studio, Videoing spent the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012 recording and mixing Reader LP with added assistance from Alex Lyon from the Bubble. The intended result is a variety of styles and feels ranging from post punk to anthem to dance to shoegaze to psych to math.

Accompanying Reader LP is a slew of videos headed by Jen Bradley who began showing versions of the "Night Watch" video at art exhibitions. Bradley and Henry have collaborated on the concept for the "Driver’s River" video, which pays homage to legendary filmmaker, Mya Derrin, and touches on the idea of ceremony and superstition.

All videos for Reader LP are shot and edited by the band.

Henry designed and screened each element of an initial limited edition CD release of Reader LP. A limited number can be picked up at slackelectric.com along with other hand crafted music releases, custom t-shirts, art prints, jewelry, and other creative oddities from Bradley, Henry and cohort Austin artists and designers.
