New Album ‘Rock and Roll is Black and Blue’ to be
Released in North America on October 9, 2012
Danko, the moniker behind Canadian rock group DANKO
JONES, will take the Headbanger’s Stage at WACKEN FESTIVAL on August 1st and
2nd to perform his first spoken word shows in over seven
years—his last offering of the like being his spoken word album, The
Magical World of Rock, released in 2004. Danko has unveiled that the
subject matter of these lectures will be none other than his favorite band in
the world, KISS. The spoken word shows will come complete with slide shows and
video footage.
The August 1st show will begin at 12:30pm
and on August 2nd at 12:10pm on the Headbanger’s Stage.
“It's been seven years since I've stepped onstage to do
spoken word. In that time I've wondered what there was worth speaking about,”
states Danko. “I'm stepping on the WACKEN stage to talk about my one burning
passion that has consumed me for my entire life. Come and listen to my
confession.”
Video footage of the shows will be posted on the web at a
later date. Check out a video clip that
Danko himself recorded to promote the spoken word shows here.
DANKO JONES recently announced that they will be
releasing their new album Rock And Roll is Black and Blue on
October 9, 2012. The album is produced in full by their longtime partner in
crime Matt DeMatteo and was mixed by Mike Fraser, known for his work with AC/DC, Aerosmith, Franz
Ferdinand and Elvis Costello to name a few.
A lengthy European tour scheduled for October / November was
announced during spring and with ticket sales already looking great we expect
most shows to be sold out well before the doors open. Tour dates in Canada, US
and Australia will be announced soon with more European touring and a busy
festival summer in 2013 also on the horizon. European tour dates can be found
