Sole Premieres Dystopic Video "DIY" w/ Huffpost & Unveils Tour Dates

Denver emcee Sole has been defying genre conventions and pushing boundaries, both musically and visually, throughout his career and with his latest music video from his Sole and The Skyrider Band project titled, "DIY," it's easy to see why he's a hip-hop legend.

Set in a futuristic, corporate-controlled dystopian nightmare, the music video, directed by Alan August with a guest appearance from electronic artist Egadz, depicts Sole and his Skyrider Band mates attempting to break into a state propaganda building in order to spread an anti-state message. The video opens with a dictator making a speech to the citizens of this world, clad in all white and looking drained of any free will.

When asked about the inspiration for the music video, Sole, who happens to be deeply involved with the Occupy Denver movement, said that he thinks the video speaks for itself, but did say this about the dictator character in the video, "the dictator looks a hell of a lot like Hickenlooper." A reference to Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper with whom the Denver protesters have clashed with in the past.

Sole has been on a creative streak the last several months releasing a stream of memorable video stunners from his Occupy Wall Street inspired "I Think I'm Ben Bernanke" to the CGI-heavy "Bad Captain Swag."

Sole has also just completed a documentary with radio personality Harry Archer called "Art Is War," described as a film that questions the role of the artist in today's society, and explores the concept of art being war, an individual's mode of resistance against the powers that be. Sure to be both thought-provoking and provocative, the "Art Is War" DVD trailer is now up on SoleOne.org.

Sole can currently be seen performing live on his solo "American Spring" tour with artists Ceschi and Bleubird around the country, see below for upcoming dates in your area:
