The Fire and Reason are the only unsigned act to win the 2009 BRINK OF FAME award, beating Lykke Li, Morningwood, and Ladyhawke at this year’s NewNowNext Awards show. Last year, Lady Gaga received the nod, suggesting big things to come for New Yorkers (by way of Brazil and Mexico) - The Fire and Reason.

The NewNowNext ceremonies premiered June 13 on Logo TV (MTV/VH1 Networks).

Forming less then three years ago, The Fire and Reason features Brazil’s Bella Saona and Ecuador’s Steve Narvaez who joined forces to create some of the dirtiest rock, baille-funk electro-pop dance music blasting out of New York City. You could describe this Brooklyn-meets-Loisaida duo as a combination of Lower East Side rock chick, 1980's Madonna, South American hipsters and international jet-setters. Their first hint of success came with the popular remix of hit song “NME,” featuring a cool remix by trendy Parisian DJ TOXIC AVENGER. Well known for their syncopated, complex Afro-Cuban electro beats, The Fire and Reason make no secret of their multi-cultural appeal, always proud to play to their Latin roots whether they are singing in English, Spanish or Portugese.

With a considerable amount of presence within the electronic music scene already, it comes as no surprise that Brooklyn’s very own musical Svengalis Larry Tee and Alexander Technique would be the catalysts behind The Fire and Reason’s recent EP “Do It Again,” released June 9th through their buzz-worthy new label DJ’S ARE NOT ROCKSTARS (DANR). This EP features the title track “Do It Again,” additionally remixed by Larry Tee and Alexander Technique under the moniker "Blogula," as well as Killer on The Dancefloor’s remix of The Fire and Reason's Baile-Funk track, “Presta Atençao."
