The When and Where: The shows will be Friday, December 14th and Saturday, December 15th at The Logan Square Auditorium (2539 N. Kedzie Avenue) in Thrill Jockey's hometown of Chicago, IL.
The doors open each night at 6 and music starts promptly at 7. We will have "redecorated" the Auditorium and promise this will not be like any Logan show you have ever seen before. There will be two stages! Specific set times or dates will not be announced. Expect the unexpected! We promise to keep it interesting with two dueling stages, special guests and collaborations and more.
The show will be the US debut for School of Language, David Brewis of Field Music's new solo endeavor. School of Language's debut album will be released on Thrill Jockey in early February of 2008. The show will also be the Chicago debut of Thalia Zedek's new band, also set for a new album in early 2008. Bobby Conn is bringing the big band and Califone promises the full horn section. Since many of these bands just completed their cover recordings for Plum, Thrill Jockey's 15th Anniversary 7" box set, we are assured of some special collaborations. Will Califone join The Sea and Cake in their performance of "Spider's House"? Will Arbouretum join forces with Angela Desveaux? We hope you join us to find out!
The Ticket: Weekend passes are 50 dollars, availible from the Empty Bottle and Ticketweb.
The Party Favor: Everyone gets a copy of the Super Epic Thrill Jockey Mega Massive Mix by Trey Told 'Em - Gregg Gillis (Girl Talk) and Frank Musarra!
Thrill Jockey opened the vaults to these two mix masters and let them go to town, and they exceeded all expectations! They managed to fit every single Oval song into one track and also crafted a special Tortoise and Trans Am mega mix, and last but certainly not least is the has-to-be-heard super epic mix that manages to include almost every Thrill Jockey artist! It's70 minutes of music in all! Check out the Trans Am megamix here:
