YAUTJA: Pitchfork Advance Now Streaming Debut LP
Tour Underway; Songs Of Descent To See Release In One Week
|
Pitchfork has just posted an Advance feature for YAUTJA's debut LP, Songs Of Descent -- now just one week from its official release Tuesday, February 11th via Forcefield Records -- which features a widespread view of the cover art paired with a full stream of the entire pulverizing album.
Featuring members of Coliseum, Gnarwhal, Nameless Cults and more, and hailing from the filthy underbelly of "Music City," -- a.k.a., Nashville, Tennessese -- YAUTJA forges a potent mix of death metal, grind, and hardcore. Burning down everything in earshot with fourteen hook-laden crushers in just over thirty-seven minutes, Songs Of Descent presents the band's ultra-intense metallic, grind-infused, tone-heavy hardcore aggression with thunderous, organic recording attributes, captured at Dark Art Studios with Mikey Allred (Inter Arma, Accross Tundras, Hellbender). The album will see release via download and 12" LP; the digital version mastered by Mikey Allred and the vinyl mastered by Zack Allen of Obsidian Eye Studios (Loss, Recluse, Sky Burial).
This week only, unload the entire barrage of purely unrestrained aggression of Songs Of Descent at Pitchfork AT THIS LOCATION.
Orders for the LP are now being taken at Forcefield's webstore; limited to five hundred copies, joined by a poster, the first pressing of the LP is available on white wax HERE or gold and black wax,HERE.
Earlier this week, YAUTJA set out on their new tour in support of the album. They invade Chicago tonight and then continue into the Northeast and back down the East Coast over the next two weeks, shutting it down on February 16th with a celebratory hometown record release show.

"Only music with such a combination of smarts and tactile power can put your body in two places at once." - Invisible Oranges
"Made up of members of Coliseum and others, Yautja incorporate imperial sludge riffs ala Neurosis with grind, math, crust and more. You'd think a mish-mash of influence like that would be jarring, but Yautja feels a lot more organic than their description leads on... Think Inter Arma without the southern bent and with more grind instead of black metal." - Noisey/Vice
"...Yautja mixes a whole bunch of extreme music genres such as grind, hardcore and sludge and do it quite well... They have this great ability to mix up speeds and tempos without losing any of their ferocity." - Alternative Control
"Mixing elements of hardcore and punk with doom-laden metal, Yautja's sound is simply punishing... There are so many moving pieces and varying sounds on this album, yet where Yautja excels is mashing them all together in a way that doesn't sound disconnected or forced." - Metal Insider
"Yautja have effectively kicked our ass on Songs of Descent, a damn fine record by a band that'll get you ready to get some shit done in your life or else. It's another great find by Forcefield and one of the early killer debut albums of the year that hopefully will result in bruised bodies and punished eardrums everywhere they play." - Meat Mead Metal
