Wild Moccasins Premieres "Emergency Broadcast" on Rookie, Announces SXSW Shows

LOS ANGELES, CA, February 25, 2013 - Houston indie-pop upstarts Wild Moccasins are thrilled to announce their new video for lead track "Emergency Broadcast" is premiering with Rookie Magazine. In the video directed by Kevin Ryan, frontwoman Zahira Gutierrez, clad in a variety of otherworldly outfits, playfully trades verses with boyfriend and co-singer/guitarist Cody Swann as they dance wildly and smash a smoke alarm to smithereens in a haze of vibrant lights and effects that perfectly match the urgency of the song's frenetic guitars and driving rhythms. "Emergency Broadcast" is off the band's lauded sophomore album, 88 92, released earlier this month on New West Records (Robert Ellis, The Whigs). The track was singled out byEsquire as one of their "Best New Songs of The Week" week of release, who declared: "Because this is TV on the Radio meets the B-52s and exactly what you hope hoped Reflektor would sound like." Noisey called the track "theatrical, funked up and free-spirited."

With their rapturous new effort, 88 92, the co-ed quintet is on the verge of breaking out in a big way. College stations around the country as well as tastemakers like LA-based KCRWhave been spinning several tracks from the record. Paste Magazine recently featured them in their "12 Texas Bands You Should Listen To Now" feature while the New York Times (Texas Edition) singled out the album and stated: "Sleek fusion of indie rock, new wave and synth-pop... A few ballads aside this set appears built for the dancefloor." Meanwhile longtime champions Houston Chronicle say they are "due for a big 2014 breakout" and Houston Press predicts "Music lovers beyond Houston will certainly hear the Wild Moccasins' 'emergency broadcast' very, very soon."

Wild Moccasins just wrapped up a second tour with of Montreal as well as a triumphant hometown record release show to a capacity crowd. Houston Press, on hand to witness the event, exclaimed: "The singer/keyboardist's energy captivated the crowd's attention and admiration with a voice like Debbie Harry and dance moves like Karen O. Jumpy, emotional, and altogether lovely, her natural talent for performing will most certainly keep the Wild Moccasins successful for many years to come."

Wild Moccasins will perform several shows at SXSW this year with their full schedule to be released soon. The band, known for its theatrical and jubilant live shows, are booked for several festivals this spring and summer including Athens' Slingshot Festival,Houston's Free Press Summerfest and Dallas' Homegrown Fest. Afull tour will be announced in the coming weeks.
