NUX VOMICA: Relapse Confirms Awaited New LP From Portland Outfit; New Track Released

At the beginning of April, Relapse Records will dispatch the new, self-titled LP from Portland, Oregon-based crust brigade, NUX VOMICA, the label debut from the underground heavyweights, and first full-length from the band in over five years.

Formed in Baltimore in 2003, NUX VOMICA's initial stripped-down crust format vastly mutated over the years as the band expanded their sound into more unrestrained, diversified territory, a cross-country relocation to Oregon part of the equation. The band has carved its ugly name into the minds of underground diehards for over a decade through a cavalcade of underground releases and delivering their craft live through bouts of regional touring.

Blending the suffocating atmospherics of the doom/sludge with the raw ferocity of black metal, punk and d-beat, NUX VOMICA constructs an organic heaviness comparably hanging somewhere in the balance between Neurosis and His Hero Is Gone. Their self-titled delivers more than forty minutes of their torrid style through three massive works, creating an emotional odyssey into the depths of human darkness; a flawless combination of epic song structures with crushing melodies and colossal riffs with powerful dynamics. Well worth the wait since their last endeavor, Nux Vomica shows this top-tier act's potent and varied style of crust punk at its prime, as if it were simply lying in wait, gaining strength, waiting for the proper time to attack.

The first single from the Nux Vomica is now playing ahead of street date, in the form of the monstrous "Reeling." Immerse yourself in its tormented diversityHERE.

Relapse will issue the album on CD, LP and digital formats on April 1st; preorders have been activated and are now available right HERE.

Stay tuned for further updates, samples and tour dates as the band prepares to spread their infection with these newest works. Review copies will be released in the coming days.
