Stereogum Says "Hello, Again" to Kittyhawk, Debut LP Now Streaming, Out 10/14/14 via Count Your Lucky Stars

Stereogum is streaming the debut full-length Hello, Again from Chicago four-piece Kittyhawk today, calling it "an impressive set of tracks that match a keen grasp of melody (both vocal and instrumental) with big, bold, dynamic song structures."
Kittyhawk play the sort of wry, dryly sweet pop songs that call to mind early 2000s bands such as Rainer Maria and The Anniversary.  Trading bass guitar for a Farfiza organ, the band is anchored by the charming l harmonies of singer Kate Grube, whose narrative lyrics push their songs forward, inviting listeners to lean in a little closer.  After the release of several split releases and a self-titled EP, the band is ready to release their debut full-length Hello, Again on Count Your Lucky Stars Records on October 14, 2014 (full tracklisting & art below).  Pre-order is now available via the Count Your Lucky Stars online store.

Noisey praised the record saying "The Chicago band is such a wonderful break from the proliferation of the sad emo boy’s club. Kate Grube’s earnest vocal work recalls bands like Rainer Maria, the Anniversary, and the Rocking Horse Winner. But that’s not to say Kittyhawk is another band simply regurgitating the music of scenes past. The band has its own distinct identity that sometimes punches you up hard and other times lulls you gently down. Really, we need more bands like this."  Consequence of Sound hailed Kittyhawk as well, saying "the band masterfully blends Midwestern emo’s beautiful guitar work, pop punk’s saccharine hooks, with an intangible conviction that holds it all together."

Kittyhawk will embark on a short run of tour dates this fall, including dates with Count Your Lucky Stars alum Into It. Over It. as well as Nai Harvest (all tour dates below).
